Chapter 162 It's Even

Gu Guizhi came forward and asked, "How is it?"

Qi Mengmeng smiled bitterly: "My sister-in-law is pregnant, and there is half a chicken at home. I want to make some chicken soup for her."

Gu Guizhi had no objection to this and followed Qi Mengmeng's instructions.

Qi Mengmeng wasn’t sure whether Li Lai Di’s almost miscarriage had anything to do with helping her with the work today, but since Li Lai Di helped her with the work today, it was no big deal for her to make chicken soup for her.

In the ward, Aunt Xu looked at Li Lai Di and asked after a long while, "What did the doctor say?"

Li Lai Di lowered her head and said in a muffled voice: "The doctor told me to have a good rest."

Aunt Xu wanted to ask why she almost had a miscarriage, but seeing Li Laidie's expression, she thought it would be better to let her son ask.

Li Lai Di saw that Aunt Xu didn't say anything and thought she was angry, so she quickly explained, "Mom, the doctor said that as long as I take good care of the baby and don't get too tired, the child will be fine."

"Yes." Aunt Xu nodded, looked at the infusion bottle, and asked, "Can you go home tonight?"

Li Lai Di shook her head: "The doctor told me to stay for two days."

"Well, that's fine. I'll go home and make you something to eat. I'll pick up Weiwei and I'll ask Daming to bring you food later."

Aunt Xu said this and prepared to leave.

Li Lai Di remembered what Qi Mengmeng said when she left, and quickly said, "Mom, Mengmeng said she wanted to stew chicken for me when she left."

"Stewed chicken? Why?" Aunt Xu really didn't understand. Gu Guizhi and his wife sent Li Laidie to the infirmary, and they hadn't had time to thank them.

"Mengmeng said that I was tired from making sauerkraut for her, so she wanted to give me some nourishment." When Li Laidie finished speaking, her voice was so low that it could not be heard clearly.

Aunt Xu has been strong-willed throughout her life, and she is not the type to take advantage of others.

Rather than saying that Li Laidi was tired from helping Qi Mengmeng make sauerkraut, it would be better to say that she was tired from helping Li Pandi.

Li Lai Di was worried that Aunt Xu would be angry.

As expected, Aunt Xu's face turned red with anger. She tried her best to suppress her anger: "Li Lai Di, even if you are tired, are you tired because you are helping Meng Meng? I think you are tired because you are working for your sister."

"They've sent you to the infirmary. How dare you let them stew chicken for you?"

Aunt Xu really didn't expect her daughter-in-law to be so shameless. How could she agree to this?

Li Lai Di quickly explained: "Mom, mom, I didn't ask Meng Meng to stew chicken for me. I already said it has nothing to do with her."

Aunt Xu didn't believe this. If she had discussed it with Qi Mengmeng, she wouldn't have reminded herself.

But now is not the time to argue about these things. Aunt Xu looked at Li Laidie's pale face and suppressed the anger in her heart.

"You lie down here, I'll go back and take a look."

Aunt Xu told the nurses to help take care of Li Lai Di, and she hurried home.

When she was almost at the door of her house, she smelled the aroma of stewed chicken. Her brows furrowed. She walked around the door of her house and finally walked into the Gu family.

Qi Mengmeng was just putting the jujubes and wolfberries into the pot. When she saw Aunt Xu coming in, she immediately smiled and said, "Aunt, my chicken soup is almost done. I'll send it to my sister-in-law later."

Aunt Xu looked embarrassed. She swallowed her saliva and said, "Mengmeng, Lai Di almost had a miscarriage this time because she was careless. It has nothing to do with you. Just think of this chicken soup as bought by Auntie."

Qi Mengmeng was stunned for a moment. She thought Aunt Xu was here to cause trouble, but she didn't expect that Aunt Xu was here to explain.

"Auntie, my sister-in-law did make sauerkraut for me, so it's only right that I make chicken soup for her."

Qi Mengmeng did not take the responsibility on herself, but she could still send some chicken soup to her.

Aunt Xu didn't have the nerve to ask for the other person's chicken soup.

The two of them made a lot of noise, and Xu Daming, who was rushed back, heard it.

Xu Daming understood the whole story and asked Aunt Xu to accept the chicken soup and bring over a piece of homemade bacon.

Aunt Xu went back to get the bacon. The chicken soup was already cooked. Qi Mengmeng took a ceramic basin and poured all the chicken soup and chicken into it.

Aunt Xu asked Qi Mengmeng to leave some, but Qi Mengmeng smiled and said nothing.

Xu Daming was very perceptive. He took Aunt Xu back to his home and asked her to prepare some simple meals. He took them to the infirmary and did not come back at night.

Aunt Xu heated up a few steamed buns made from yesterday's flour, fried some eggs, and cooked some noodles, then asked Xu Daming to take them to the hospital.

After Xu Daming left, Aunt Xu sat alone on the kang and wiped the sweat off her face. She felt dizzy after all the busy work, as if she had forgotten something, but she couldn't remember it for a while.

Next door, Qi Mengmeng and Gu Guizhi had hot noodle soup in the evening.

Qi Mengmeng cut the meat into thin strips, stir-fried it with lard, and added tomatoes for seasoning. A big pot of noodles, accompanied by steamed buns and meat sauce, was enough to fill the two of them.

After dinner, Qi Mengmeng took out some brown sugar and wrapped some out.

Gu Guizhi knew it was for Li Lai Di, so he asked, "You've already made chicken soup, why are you giving me brown sugar?"

Qi Mengmeng wrapped the brown sugar and said, "I made chicken soup today, and Captain Xu also gave us a piece of bacon, so we're even."

"We live close to Sister Li and have a good relationship with her. Even if she almost had a miscarriage and it wasn't because she was tired from making sauerkraut for us, it's only right for us to go and see her."

Of course Gu Guizhi knew and understood, he just didn’t like Qi Mengmeng being misunderstood.

Qi Mengmeng is certainly not a saint. She is willing to take care of Li Lai Di because of the wisdom of Aunt Xu and Xu Daming, and because Li Lai Di did not wrongly accuse her.

The atmosphere in the infirmary was a little unpleasant. Li Lai Di felt a little guilty when she saw Xu Daming. She knew that Xu Daming wanted a son, but she almost aborted the child.

Xu Daming served Li Laidi a bowl of chicken soup and chicken, and also gave her a steamed bun.

"The doctor said you need to eat something good to nourish yourself. This is the chicken soup that Deputy Colonel Gu's wife made for you."

Li Lai Di took the chicken soup and explained, "I'm in the hospital, it has nothing to do with Meng Meng."

Xu Daming nodded: "I know, you are tired because of helping Pan Di."

Li Lai Di shook her head: "No."

Xu Daming looked at her quietly: "You have always been in good health. If you hadn't gone to help Pan Di, how could you be tired?"

Li Laidie opened her mouth, not knowing how to explain for a moment.

"Forget it, it's over. You should be more careful in the future." Xu Daming didn't necessarily want to be angry with Li Laidie. After all, it was his idea to let Li Pandi marry Lin Jianjun.

"Pandi is married now, so don't always help her with work in the future." Xu Daming reminded Li Laidie.

Li Lai Di nodded quickly.

Only then did Xu Daming urge Li Lai Di to drink the chicken soup.

Li Laidie raised the chicken soup to Xu Daming's mouth and asked him to drink some.

Xu Daming shook his head: "This is what Deputy Colonel Gu's wife cooked for you. Drink it. If you can't finish it, I'll take it back and ask Mom to make you some chicken noodle soup tomorrow morning."
