Liu Dajiang came out holding an enamel cup. When he saw Qi Mengmeng, a smile appeared on his face.
"Meng Meng, you came to see me?"
Qi Mengmeng nodded to Monkey and followed Liu Dajiang into his office.
Liu Dajiang took out a few candies from the drawer and placed them in front of Qi Mengmeng: "Mengmeng, have some candies."
Qi Mengmeng smiled and told Liu Dajiang what happened last night.
Liu Dajiang was so angry that he stood up from his chair: "What are you talking about? A widower with three sons dares to come to my house."
Qi Mengmeng carefully observed Liu Dajiang's expression and knew that he was really worried about Qi Huilan.
"Uncle Liu, do you think I should find a companion for my mother? I'm already married and I don't know when I'll be joining the army. If my mother is left alone at home, will she be bullied by the neighbors?"
Qi Mengmeng sighed.
Liu Dajiang's expression changed, and finally he sat down slowly, leaning forward: "Mengmeng, do you mind your mother getting married again?"
"I don't mind." Qi Mengmeng answered quickly: "My mother married Ge Tiezhu at that time, and it was my grandfather who decided it. I hope she can decide for herself when she remarries."
Liu Dajiang almost blurted out "What do you think of me?" but swallowed his words back.
Qi Mengmeng was worried about Liu Dajiang, but some things had to be said by him himself. She waited for a while, but Liu Dajiang didn't say that he wanted to marry Qi Huilan.
Liu Dajiang forced a smile and talked about something else: "Before you said you wanted to change houses, there is a family nearby who wants to change houses with you, but their house is smaller and not as new as yours."
The house that Qi Mengmeng and her family live in now was bought ten years ago and has been well maintained over the years. Even the furniture inside is very new.
Liu Dajiang really put a lot of effort into changing houses for Qi Huilan and her daughter. Not only did he tell everyone in the institute, but he also looked around when he went out to work and asked everyone he met. He actually found someone who wanted to change houses.
This family lives in the alley next to the Public Security Bureau. They have a total of three and a half houses, one less than the Qi family's house. It has been built for twenty years. Four generations of more than a dozen people live together in it. When they heard that they could change houses, they went to Qi's house to take a look and immediately agreed.
Qi Mengmeng didn't expect Liu Dajiang to find someone to exchange rooms with so quickly, so she asked worriedly, "How are the neighbors around here?"
Their family has lived with Aunt Zou's family for so many years, and Aunt Zou even brought her unreliable brother to live with them. If by chance they end up with bad neighbors again, it would be better for them not to move.
Liu Dajiang shook his head. He had already checked and found that the neighbors nearby were all honest and decent people. Most importantly, the house was next to the Public Security Bureau. If anything happened, Liu Dajiang could go over to help.
Qi Mengmeng guessed Liu Dajiang's thoughts. She thought it was a good idea. As long as Liu Dajiang could treat Qi Huilan well, she didn't object to having a stepfather.
Liu Dajiang stood up and told Qi Mengmeng that he would go over and take a look.
Qi Mengmeng didn't want to delay Liu Dajiang's work, so she asked for the address and decided to go over and take a look herself.
Although Liu Dajiang was worried, it was working hours now and he was afraid that someone would look for him if he went out, so he could only tell Qi Mengmeng the address in detail again and asked her to repeat it. He let her go only when he felt there was no problem.
Qi Mengmeng came out of the Public Security Bureau and walked slowly towards the address Liu Dajiang mentioned.
It is working hours now, and those sitting at the doorstep are either unemployed young wives or elderly women who are taking care of their children at home.
Qi Mengmeng walked to the entrance of the alley and several little boys ran past her laughing. She took a few steps forward and saw a little girl of two or three years old in a floral top fell to the ground and cried sadly.
She looked around and saw no adults nearby, so she went forward to help the little girl up and took out a piece of candy from her pocket: "Don't cry, I'll give you this candy."
The little girl took the candy, peeled off the candy wrapper and put the candy in her mouth, saying vaguely, "Thank you."
Qi Mengmeng didn't expect the little girl to be so polite. She took out a handkerchief to wipe the tears and dust off her face and asked her, "What's your name? Do you know where your home is?"
"Tiantian." The little girl grinned at Qi Mengmeng and pointed in the direction she just came from: "Brother ran away."
Qi Mengmeng guessed, "Your name is Tiantian, and you went out to play with your brother, and your brother ran away, right?"
Tiantian nodded happily: "Yes."
Qi Mengmeng touched the little braid on her head and asked her if she knew where her home was. Tiantian was just busy eating candy and didn't answer her question.
Qi Mengmeng had a headache for a moment. She couldn't go door to door to ask whose child the child was, but if she left the child alone here, she was worried that the child would be taken away by someone else.
Tiantian finished the candy in her mouth and reached out to Qi Mengmeng without any hesitation: "Sister, eat more."
Qi Mengmeng took out another candy and put it in her palm, then took it back: "Tiantian, do you know where you live? I'll give you this candy when we get home."
Tiantian tilted her head and thought for a moment, then pointed behind her and stretched out her hand, asking Qi Mengmeng to lead her.
"I'll take you home." Qi Mengmeng has always liked children. Facing the cute and adorable Tiantian, she couldn't say no.
Qi Mengmeng didn't expect that Tiantian was right next to the room she was going to move to. Through the open gate, she could see a woman washing clothes inside.
"Tiantian, is this your home?" Qi Mengmeng squatted down and asked Tiantian.
"Yeah, candy." Tiantian reached out to Qi Mengmeng.
Qi Mengmeng handed Tiantian a piece of fruit candy and knocked on the door again. Since she had already sent the person there, she had to tell the adults.
Ye Tao, who was washing clothes, turned around and ran over immediately: "Tiantian? Why are you here? Didn't you go out to play with your brothers?"
Tiantian held the candy in her hand in front of Ye Tao: "Mom, candy."
Ye Tao snatched the candy from Tiantian's hand. Tiantian pursed her lips, as if she was about to cry: "Mom, candy, it's sweet."
"Where does the candy come from?" Ye Tao heard that some human traffickers like to use candy to deceive children.
Qi Mengmeng next to her said awkwardly, "Sister, I gave the candy to Tiantian. I saw her crying at the intersection and gave her a piece of candy. I promised her that I would give it to her once she found her home."
Tiantian nodded beside her, and Ye Tao handed the candy to Tiantian somewhat awkwardly. Tiantian immediately put the candy in her mouth and ran into the yard.
Ye Tao curled the corners of her mouth, invited Qi Mengmeng into the yard, and poured her some water to thank her for bringing Tiantian back.
Suddenly, an old lady appeared on the wall from the yard next door: "Taozi, who is this person?"
Ye Tao stepped forward quickly: "Aunt, why are you climbing the ladder again? You just fell down two days ago, have you forgotten?"
