Chapter 378 Lying Down and Acting Like a Boss

Yu Xiaoman had to stay in the hospital for two days, so he was in a hurry for lunch today, so he bought some food in the hospital cafeteria.

But it's Chinese New Year, there are few patients in the hospital, and there are not many dishes in the cafeteria. Hunzi plans to go back and cook in the evening. It's cheap and tastes good.

It’s almost the New Year and there’s a lot of food at home, so he just needs to act quickly.

Hunzi washed the lunch box and returned to the ward. Xiaodouzi had already fallen asleep, and Yu Xiaoman looked at him tenderly.

"Is Xiaodouzi lying next to you and squeezing you? Let me carry him over here." Hunzi said as he carried Xiaodouzi to the other side and urged Yu Xiaoman to lie down and rest.

Yu Xiaoman was indeed tired. Seeing the gangster was there, he felt much more at ease and fell asleep within two minutes of lying down.

The gangster was watching the two of them and thinking about what to bring back when he went home that night.

In Yu Xiaoman's current condition, he must be accompanied by someone. He has to stay here at night. He has to go home and get two quilts. The weather is cold now, and if he lies on the ground directly, he will get frozen in two days.

Now the whole family is depending on him, he can’t afford to have any problems.

Hunzi planned to wait until Yu Xiaoman woke up before letting her look after Xiaodouzi, and then he hurried home to cook and get things.

It took some time to pack up. I didn't make anything complicated for dinner. I just cooked the frozen dumplings at home and sent them to the hospital.

He wanted to feed Yu Xiaoman, but Yu Xiaoman shook her head, saying that she no longer needed intravenous drips and could eat by herself. Xiao Douzi also said that she could grab things to eat.

Seeing that the mother and daughter could eat by themselves, Hunzi packed up the things he had brought, then went to get some hot water, made a large ceramic jar of malted milk and handed it to Yu Xiaoman.

"Don't be busy, eat first, the dumplings will be dried later."

"Don't worry if it gets dry. Just pour some hot water in it. There's also dumpling soup to drink." Hunzi said as he poured hot water into the lunch box and took out two dumplings. He fed one to Yu Xiaoman and the other to Xiaodouzi.

Xiaodouzi had just eaten his fill and now couldn't eat any more. However, Yu Xiaoman was forced by the gangster to eat several dumplings.

"I really can't eat anymore." Yu Xiaoman shook his head.

Hunzi confirmed that Yu Xiaoman really couldn't eat anymore, so he picked up the lunch box, drank the water first, and then finished the dumplings in the lunch box one by one.

After dinner, Hunzi spread the mattress he brought from home on the floor. The lady who had just spoken to Yu Xiaoman reminded him, "You can go to the nurses' station and borrow a couple of stools to put together."

Although the stool is a bit narrow, it is better than sleeping directly on the ground.

The gangster thanked the old lady, went to the nurse's station, borrowed two stools, and put the three stools together with the stool he had just sat on. He also found some cardboard and put the mattress on top, and a simple bed was ready.

"You are quite smart, young man." The old lady praised the boy.

The woman on the bed, who was not sure whether she was the aunt's daughter or daughter-in-law, called out to her unhappily, "Mom, I'm sleepy."

"Then you go to sleep, you go to sleep, mom won't say anything anymore." The aunt said good-temperedly.

The gangster asked Yu Xiaoman, then went to turn off the lights, and the room fell into darkness.

Yu Xiaoman was tired today and fell asleep quickly, but Hunzi lay on the bed made of stools. But he was worried about Yu Xiaoman and Xiaodouzi, so he got up several times to check on them.

The next morning at five o'clock, the gangster got up and packed up all his things.

At this time, Yu Xiaoman and Xiaodouzi were still asleep. Hunzi didn't dare to go out. He waited until both of them woke up. Then he helped Yu Xiaoman to go to the toilet and then hurried home to cook.

He cooked a pot of millet porridge, put ten dumplings he had made before the New Year into the pot, and then went to wash up.

After washing up, Hunzi started to make the dough rise again. He thought that he would take some time to go home and steam a pot of buns at noon.

It was too troublesome to wash the sauerkraut, so Hunzi cut the cabbage first. At this time, the millet porridge and buns on the fire were ready. He wrapped the buns with a clean cloth, put the millet porridge into the lunch box, and hurried to the hospital.

"Xiaoman, are you hungry? Have a bun first." Hunzi took out the buns and gave one to Yu Xiaoman and Xiaodouzi respectively. He also scooped a large spoonful of brown sugar into the millet porridge and put it on the small table to cool.

He took another bun and handed it to the lady next to him.

"Auntie, these are our homemade steamed buns. How do you like them?"

The old lady waved her hand: "No, no, we've already had breakfast, you can keep it for yourself."

From the situation of Hunzi's family of three, we can tell that their family conditions are average and the aunt would feel embarrassed to eat their buns.

The bastard kept his hands raised and said, "Auntie, if you hadn't reminded me last night, I would have slept on the floor. It's just a bun, right? Don't be polite to me."

The gangster looked around, as if looking for her lunch box.

The old lady could only take the bun and said, "Then I'll be welcome. Thank you."

"You're welcome, you're welcome." The gangster waved his hand and went back to eat the buns.

Hunzi told Yu Xiaoman what he had done this morning: "I will go back early at noon and make a pot of dumplings. They are delicious when they are freshly steamed. I will stew a chicken in the evening and give you chicken soup."

"There is some food at home. You can just make some simple food. It's too tiring to run back and forth." Yu Xiaoman was worried that Hunzi would be tired.

"It's okay, these are just small jobs, I can do them no problem." The gangster acted as if nothing was wrong.

When I was in the army, it was much more tiring than it is now. It was just cooking and delivering meals, so it was really not tiring.

Yu Xiaoman stayed in the hospital for two days, and the hunk delivered meals to him for two days. The meals were not sloppy, and apart from white flour, they consisted of eggs and chicken soup.

When Xiaoman was discharged from the hospital, his complexion looked much better.

The doctor told Yu Xiaoman to go home and rest in bed for a week and try not to get out of bed.

The gangster agreed readily, but Yu Xiaoman didn't take it seriously.

After returning home, Yu Xiaoman wanted to wash clothes, but was stopped by the gangsters.

"The doctor just told you to rest for a week, what are you going to do?"

"I haven't washed the clothes I took off a few days ago. I'll go wash them."

The custom here is to change into new clothes on New Year's Eve and not work on the first day of the New Year.

Yu Xiaoman originally planned to wash clothes on the second day of the New Year, but she was hospitalized on the first day. Today is the fourth day of the New Year, and she hasn’t washed her clothes from before the New Year.

"I'll go take a shower in a while. You go back to bed and lie down. The doctor told you to rest. You have to listen to the doctor." The gangster forcibly pulled Yu Xiaoman onto the bed.

"If you don't consider yourself, you have to consider the baby in your belly. What if you get tired again and hurt the baby?" Hunzi tried to reason with Yu Xiaoman: "If you want to work, wait until the baby is born, I'll let you do all the housework and I'll just lie there and be the boss."

"You wish." Yu Xiaoman gave Hunzi a reproachful look. She knew Hunzi was doing this for her own good, but she also felt sorry for him because of all the trouble he had been making these past few days.
