Chapter 7 Spending Money on Others

According to Qi Mengmeng, she wanted to take all of Ge Tiezhu's money, but Qi Huilan knew that although Ge Tiezhu loved Ge Wenling, he cared more about money and would not give her all of it.

Qi Mengmeng thought about it and felt that Qi Huilan's guess made sense. The most important thing was that she was not sure whether Ge Tiezhu, who was about to have a son, was still willing to spend money on Ge Wenling.

When the mother and daughter entered the room, Ge Tiezhu and Ge Wenling were eating. Each of them had a bowl of fragrant chicken soup with golden chicken oil floating on it. There was also a plate of scrambled eggs and a dish of peanuts on the table.

"You can eat so well so early in the morning?" Qi Mengmeng raised her eyebrows.

"Hmph..." Ge Wenling was still jealous of Qi Mengmeng for hitting her. Not only did she ignore her, she also picked up the steamed bun next to her and took a big bite.

Ge Tiezhu stood up, took the food from Qi Huilan, and explained, "I bought a chicken and asked Wenling to stew it. I plan to take it to the hospital later to nourish Mengmeng. You see, we only drank the soup and didn't eat the meat."

The expression on Qi Huilan's face finally relaxed a little, and Qi Mengmeng had already gone to the kitchen.

On the kitchen table, one lunch box was full of chicken, and another lunch box contained two white flour buns and half a box of scrambled eggs.

If these things were prepared by Ge Tiezhu for Qi Huilan and her daughter, Qi Mengmeng would be able to cut off his ears.

"Mom, we're all home now, so there's no need to trouble Uncle Ge to take us to the hospital." Qi Mengmeng put two lunch boxes on the table, handed Qi Huilan a white flour bun, grabbed the other one and took a bite. Hmm, it tasted pretty good.

She picked up another chicken leg and took a bite. It was delicious, even more delicious than the modern three-yellow chicken.

Ge Wenling watched Qi Mengmeng eat mouthful after mouthful. The chicken soup in the bowl no longer smelled good. She reached out her chopsticks to pick up some meat, but Qi Mengmeng blocked her with her chopsticks.

"Uncle Ge just said that these chickens are for my health, you can't eat them."

Ge Wenling was so angry that her shoulders were shaking: "Why? I stewed this chicken."

"Just because your dad said that the chicken is for my health, you should think that the chicken has been sent to the hospital." Qi Mengmeng said and called Qi Huilan: "Mom, eat it quickly. You must be tired from taking care of me these two days. Eat more."

"This chicken is not..." Ge Wenling watched the chicken that she was reluctant to eat go into Qi Mengmeng's mouth. She said six words without thinking and was grabbed by Ge Tiezhu by the arm.

"Wenling, you and Mengmeng are sisters, so don't worry about it. Drink the soup and wash the clothes."

Ge Wenling's arm was hurt by Ge Tiezhu's grip. Her brain became clearer and she dared not speak anymore. She picked up the soup that she had been reluctant to drink and drank it in one gulp. She then used a steamed bun to dip the remaining soup in the bowl and stuffed it into her mouth. She glared at Qi Mengmeng and went back to her room.

Qi Mengmeng guessed that the chicken and white flour buns were reserved for Ge Tiezhu's other woman, so she ate them even more happily.

Qi Huilan had lost her appetite. She only ate half of the steamed bun and stopped eating. She put the remaining steamed bun and chicken in front of Qi Mengmeng and said, "Mengmeng, the doctor said you are malnourished. You should eat more."

Ge Tiezhu's face sank for a moment, but he regained his composure when Qi Huilan looked over.

"Huilan, you take care of Mengmeng at home today. I'm going to work first." Ge Tiezhu stood up and was about to leave.

"Wait," Qi Huilan stopped Ge Tiezhu, "Old Ge, Wenling took Mengmeng's job. Mengmeng agreed not to make a fuss about it, but she has to give the money for buying the moves to Mengmeng."

Ge Tiezhu looked at Qi Mengmeng. He didn't expect that she would stop making trouble so easily.

"Okay, I'll give Meng Meng 500 dollars to buy this job for Wen Ling."

"Puchi..." Qi Mengmeng suddenly laughed and looked at Ge Tiezhu: "Uncle Ge, I'll give you one thousand and you buy me two jobs."

Ge Tiezhu frowned: "Mengmeng, where do you get a thousand dollars?"

"I don't have a thousand dollars, but there are no jobs that pay five hundred dollars now. Even a temporary worker in a workshop can't be hired for five hundred dollars. I'm a worker, so I can sell for twelve hundred dollars at least."

Qi Mengmeng calculated the bill slowly: "If I go out and say now that I can buy a job as a clerk in a textile factory for twelve hundred dollars, I'm afraid many people will rush to grab it."

Of course Ge Tiezhu knew that Qi Mengmeng was telling the truth, but he believed that this job was given to the family by Grandpa Qi, so he looked at Qi Huilan.

"Huilan, you know that I have been supporting the family for many years, and I don't have much money. Wenling has called you mom for so many years."

Ever since Ge Tiezhu and Qi Huilan got married, Ge Wenling has always called Qi Huilan "Mom". Qi Huilan also treats her like her own daughter. Whenever she buys something for Qi Mengmeng, she always brings one for Ge Wenling.

Because Ge Wenling was fat, Qi Mengmeng could make two pieces of clothing with the cloth she used to make one piece of clothing.

Before Qi Huilan could say anything, Qi Mengmeng exclaimed, "Mom, have you saved all your salary over the years? Why did Uncle Ge say that he was the one who supported the family?"

Ge Tiezhu's face turned red instantly, he was angry.

Qi Huilan glanced at Qi Mengmeng and told her to behave herself. Then she turned around and said to Ge Tiezhu, "Old Ge, from the moment we got married, each of us has contributed 20 yuan a month for household expenses, and the rest of the money is saved. I usually buy rice and flour for the family, and I buy and make clothes for my two daughters."

Her meaning was very clear. She paid the bulk of the household expenses, and Ge Tiezhu saved all the money he had.

Qi Mengmeng was full at this time, and there was still half a box of chicken in her lunch box. She closed the lid and tilted her head to look at Ge Tiezhu.

"Uncle Ge, if you really don't want to pay, I'll go to the factory and ask for your job back."

"No." Ge Tiezhu refused loudly.

When he took Ge Wenling to the factory to complete the job registration, he told her that Qi Mengmeng gave the job to Ge Wenling. If Qi Mengmeng told the factory about this, he would lose face.

But he couldn't bear to spend more than a thousand yuan to buy a job for Ge Wenling.

"Uncle Ge has no money?" Qi Mengmeng stood up, looked Ge Tiezhu up and down, and shook her head: "My mother said that Uncle Ge kept his money for himself, and you don't usually buy things for the family, so did you spend the money on others?"

"Nonsense." Ge Tiezhu couldn't help getting angry. "Isn't it just paying money? I'll bring it back to you in the evening."

Ge Tiezhu turned around and walked out. When he reached the door, he turned back and said, "Huilan, Wenling has called you mom for so many years, how can you be so cruel?"

"I've called you uncle for so many years, but you're even more cruel. You took my job for your daughter." Qi Mengmeng retorted immediately.

Ge Tiezhu felt upset, so he slammed the door, went out, and rode away on his bicycle.

The two people who were talking on the side of the road looked at each other and followed on their bikes.
