The next morning, the sun shone into the room, Lin Zheng and Xiao Zhiquan were still sleeping soundly. Lin Qingmei walked into the room quietly, and couldn't help laughing when she saw the cute appearance of the two.
Lin Zheng was seen sleeping soundly with one hand on his head and the other under his body; while little Zhiquan was curled up like a cute kitten.
"Lin Zheng, Xiao Zhiquan, the sun is shining on your butts, you two little guys, wake up!"
However, the only response she got was the sound of snoring.
Lin Qingmei was so angry at the two of them that she laughed. It seemed that they wouldn't hear her unless she was a little rude to them. "Lin Zheng, if you don't get up, you'll be late."
"Oh no, I overslept again." Lin Zheng woke up first, he jumped out of bed and ran out the door.
Zhiquan also opened his eyes dazedly and looked at the thing in front of him in confusion.
"Lin Zheng, stop. Today is Sunday and you don't have to go to school. You two little lazy bums can't be woken up even if I call you." Lin Qingmei said with her hands on her hips.
Lin Zheng scratched his head and smiled sheepishly. "I played too late with Xiao Zhiquan last night, so I slept so deeply just now."
"Sister Qingmei, why did you get up so early?" Xiao Zhiquan rubbed his eyes and drew the curtains in the room. It was still pitch dark in the room and he couldn't tell whether it was day or night.
"You two should get up quickly and have breakfast. If you are still sleepy, you can go back to your room and sleep after breakfast. I have to go to work at the farm and don't have time to wait for you. Lin Zheng, remember to help Xiao Zhiquan brush his teeth and wash his face." After saying this, Lin Qingmei hurriedly left home. If she didn't leave, she would really be late.
After Lin Zheng responded, he turned to look at Xiao Zhiquan, "Xiao Zhiquan, let's get up and wash up."
Little Zhiquan nodded obediently. Lin Zheng took little Zhiquan to the shower room and clumsily helped little Zhiquan brush his teeth. Little Zhiquan had foam in his mouth but still smiled foolishly at Lin Zheng.
After washing up, the two sat down at the dining table. Lin Zheng looked at the porridge and pickled vegetables on the table and muttered, "It would be nice if I could eat meat buns."
Xiao Zhiquan agreed: "Yeah, meat buns are the best, but the pickled cabbage made by Sister Qingmei is also delicious."
After breakfast, Lin Zheng took little Zhiquan to play near home.
They were playing when they suddenly heard a loud noise coming from the entrance of the village.
"Brother Zhiquan, let's go home and get the eggs. The peddler should be here. We should go and see what delicious food he brought to exchange. If we go too late, there will be nothing left."
Lin Zheng took Xiao Zhiquan home, got an egg and ran towards the village entrance. When they arrived at the entrance, the peddler was already surrounded by villagers.
"You are a dishonest peddler. We sell eggs at the purchasing station for three cents each. Sugar at the supply and marketing cooperative is 20 cents per pound. How come you can only exchange one egg for a piece of candy? Aren't you cheating children? Do you believe me? I will report you?"
“Don’t I need sugar coupons to buy sugar at the supply and marketing cooperative? I’m just earning some hard-earned money. If you think it’s a loss to exchange an egg for a piece of candy, then just don’t let your child come to exchange it.” The peddler was not afraid of being reported by others. He didn’t sell things to outsiders. He just bartered with the villagers.
"Okay, Sister Xingqi, stop making trouble. The peddler has always exchanged sugar this way. You should know that although a pound of sugar is only 20 cents, you still need a sugar ticket! A pound of sugar is only about 80 pieces of sugar, and the peddler didn't make much money from you."
Aunt Liu frowned and pulled Aunt Xingxi away. She didn't know what she was making a fuss about today. An egg and a candy, what should I do if the peddler doesn't come to Linjiawan anymore?
