Lu Qingyan watched people cook, and walked out of the room. She looked around the house, frowned when she saw there was no living room, and then saw there was no place to hang clothes, so she couldn't help but shout:
"Gu Mingze, you use the balcony as a kitchen. Where are you going to hang your laundry in the future?"
"No one lives in the house next door, so let it dry there first. I'll work hard and get you a bigger house." Gu Mingze was cooking while listening to his wife's words and comforting her.
Lu Qingyan nodded without saying anything. No matter what, it was better than what was described in the books she had read before, where people cooked in the corridor and shared a toilet, so she tried not to be picky.
"Wife, eat." Gu Mingze brought the dishes into the house and said
"When you have time, ask someone to make a long table and put it next to the corridor. We can eat here so that the house won't be filled with the smell of food." Lu Qingyan suggested, looking at the corridor where a long table could be placed without delaying people from walking back and forth.
Gu Mingze heard what his wife said, glanced at the corridor, and felt that it was not a problem, so he nodded and said, "Okay, I'll find someone to do it later, let's eat first."
Lu Qingyan entered the house and sat on the table. She took a bite of the braised pork, but found it too greasy, so she only ate stir-fried cabbage and steamed buns. After eating a steamed bun, she put down her chopsticks.
"Is that all you're going to eat?" Gu Mingze asked, frowning as he looked at the cabbage and a steamed bun that were missing from the edge of the plate.
"I'm full." Lu Qingyan patted her stomach and said
"Then take a look at what's missing at home, I'll drive over to buy it later." Gu Mingze said as he looked at his wife's slightly bulging belly.
"I'll go with you. I'm familiar with the road." Lu Qingyan said as she looked at Gu Mingze with bright eyes.
"Okay." Gu Mingze quickly finished his meal, cleaned up, took out all the banknotes and passbooks, handed them over and said, "This is what I have saved over the years, I'll leave it with you."
"So much?" Lu Qingyan put the banknote in the box, opened the passbook, looked at the 1,600 yuan in it, and said in surprise
"Except for the money I send home every year, I keep the rest for myself, plus the rewards I get from completing missions, that's all I have." Gu Mingze looked at the surprise on his wife's face and said with a smile
"Then let's go." Lu Qingyan put the passbook away, put the money in her pocket, and said happily while hugging Gu Mingze's arm.
"Okay, let's go now." Gu Mingze touched his wife's hair.
I was very happy and felt that my wife had valued me and I no longer had to worry that she would abandon me at any time.
After the two went downstairs, Lu Qingyan stood at the door waiting for Gu Mingze to drive back to pick her up. After waiting for a while and seeing no one coming back, she walked forward a few steps and looked around at the surrounding environment.
In the building in front, there were a few aunties sitting downstairs basking in the sun and chatting. When they saw the fair and pretty girl coming over, they shouted and asked:
"Little girl, you look unfamiliar. Are you new here?"
"Hello, Auntie. I just came here yesterday." Lu Qingyan heard someone calling her, looked around, and felt that they were asking about her, so she smiled and said
"Really? Are you here to visit relatives or to accompany the army?" Several ladies looked at each other and asked curiously.
"I'm with the army." As soon as Lu Qingyan finished speaking, she saw Gu Mingze driving over. She hurriedly said goodbye to the ladies and got in the car.
"Hey, that guy driving the car is Captain Gu, right?" A tall, thin, wrinkled old lady pointed at the driver and said
"Really? Then the little girl is Captain Gu's wife?" A plump old lady with neatly combed hair squinted her eyes and looked over, asking uncertainly.
"That's unpredictable. I heard that Captain Gu got married and his wife is from the countryside, but this girl doesn't look like she's from the countryside either." A man of medium height with slanted eyes nodded and said to the very mean old lady.
So several people started to share the news they got from other places around this topic, but no matter what they said, they were not sure whether this little girl was Captain Gu’s wife.
Finally, the few of them had no choice but to go home and cook, preparing to find out more in the next two days to find out what the situation was.
