Chapter 45: Try scolding me again?

Bai Ruoxi walked awkwardly to Gu Mingfeng's bedside and glanced at the ring. "Is this your apology to me?"

"Yes, it's all my fault. I caused you to suffer so much. My mother specially melted down her earrings and necklace to make this ring. Although the style is a bit old-fashioned, it is very heavy. You have fair skin, so it will look good on you."

Gu Mingfeng held her hand without saying a word and put the gold ring on her ring finger.

"Ruoxi, I was wrong for what happened before, but I swear that after we get married, I will be devoted to you and treat you well. My mom checked, and the 28th of next month is an auspicious day, so why don't we get married on that day?"

Bai Ruoxi shuddered with fear and immediately pulled her hand away, "Why are you in such a hurry? We haven't even taken our wedding photos yet."

She wanted to pull the ring off, but hesitated.

Although the Bai family treated her well, she was not Bai Dingxian's biological daughter after all. Even though she had everything she needed now, she had never received any jewelry.

Gu Mingfeng took out a pair of pearl earrings from under the pillow and handed them to her. "Taking wedding photos is not easy. When I recover from my injury, I will go to the city to take the photos. You can wear these earrings then. How about these pearls? Are they big enough?"

Bai Ruoxi wavered a little again.

But when she thought of Xing Haodong, she suddenly felt that these things became boring.

Are these vulgar dead things as important as her love?

As soon as Lin Qiu saw her expression, he knew that this girl was having a love affair, so he immediately came over and held her hand.

"Don't worry, Mingfeng. In a few days, Ruoxi will go with you to the city to take wedding photos. This is the food Ruoxi brought specially for you. Take your time to eat. I'll take her back first."

After saying that, he dragged Bai Ruoxi out of the ward.

"Aunt Qiu, what are you doing? I accepted his things, how can I cancel the engagement?"

Lin Qiu rolled his eyes at her. "You know you're not going to get what you want. Didn't Gu Mingfeng give you enough in the past? Do you think this debt can be settled? Don't be naive. Unless you can prove that marrying that Dong Ge is better than marrying Gu Mingfeng, you'd better give up this idea as soon as possible."

Bai Ruoxi's self-esteem instantly swelled, "Don't worry, I will definitely prove it to you!"

In the ward, Gu Mingfeng opened the thermos bucket with great interest, took a few sips, and his smile immediately disappeared.

The taste of this food is far worse than what Jiang Mingxin used to make.

In front of the county court.

Jiang Mingxin found a place, parked Sister Hong's tricycle, took out his English tutorial book and started doing exercises.

The English section of the 1989 college entrance examination was too easy for her. As long as she was familiar with the question types, she was almost certain to get a full score.

In less than twenty minutes, she finished a set of papers. With half an hour left before the court session, she packed her schoolbag and prepared to go in.

"Mingxin? Oh, it's Mingxin, right? I haven't seen you for several years. You've grown into a big girl."

Suddenly, a faint voice sounded behind her head.

Jiang Mingxin turned her head and looked, not surprised, "Auntie."

"Hey, I saw you from a distance." The person who came was Jiang Dacheng's wife, Jiang Mingxin's aunt Liu Yun. She had dry and yellow hair, dark skin, and a skinny appearance. She was not short, but because she always hunched her neck and hunched her waist, she could never stand up straight.

Even when she spoke, she spoke in a low voice and seemed timid.

Jiang Dacheng's family originally lived in Jiangjiatun, but because Jiang Dawei got married and occupied the house, Jiang Mingxin's grandmother was partial to them and only let the three of them squeeze into the old dilapidated house. He couldn't stand this, so he brought his family to the county to make a living.

Because he was very strong and lucky, he was hired by a machinery factory a few years ago. Only then did his family escape poverty, rent two bungalows, and settle down.

When Jiang Mingxin saw Liu Yun coming, he guessed that Jiang Dacheng was not far away, so he quickly jumped off the tricycle, tidied his clothes, and got ready.

After a while, Jiang Dacheng hurriedly approached with his only son Jiang Fu. When he saw her, he roared, "You little bitch, you're so capable that you dare to sue your own father? He gave birth to you, can't he teach you a lesson? You're a traitor, what good will it do you if your father goes to jail? If I had known earlier, he should have listened to me and strangled you to death!"

Jiang Mingxin sneered: "Uncle, you really are worthy of being his elder brother, you are just the same beast."

"Fuck you, little bastard! Come here, I'm not going to beat you to death today, my last name is Jiang!" Jiang Dacheng was so angry that he took off one of his shoes and was about to slap her in the face.

Jiang Mingxin dodged left and right, running around the field like walking a dog.

Jiang Dacheng was so tired that he was out of breath. "You, you just wait for me..."

"Uncle, if you want to throw a tantrum, you should at least understand what this is. The People's Court, this is where the people are judged! All men and women are born equal, and we all have human rights. But what about you? What did you do over a decade ago without telling anyone? Why did Auntie jump into the river back then? God is watching what we do. Haven't you encountered any evil spirits in your dreams these past few years?"

As soon as these words were spoken, Jiang Dacheng's face turned pale with fright.

He looked around nervously and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw there were no policemen.

Liu Yun and Jiang Fu also had pale faces. The former was because the horrible memories were brought back to him, and the latter was because he felt ashamed.

Jiang Fu is almost fifteen years old this year. He only found out when he grew up that his mother had given birth to a daughter before, but his father threw her into the river and drowned her in the middle of winter.

Compared to this, Jiang Mingxin felt that Jiang Dawei still had some humanity.
