Chapter 143: Taking Mushrooms

Tian Xiaolan also turned around and went home. When she got home, she told Aunt Guihua and the others about her plan. They all agreed with her decision.

These mushrooms grew rapidly, and Fang Guihua picked a lot of them, piling them up in a winnowing basket. Not to mention that it seemed like there were endless mushrooms to pick, and they kept growing after she picked them.

After washing up, they went to bed. Tired after a day, they fell asleep as soon as they hit the bed. Tian Xiaolan vaguely saw a layer of white mist in front of her. She felt the earth-shaking shaking as she walked over and found endless blood and stones, as well as people crying and shouting helplessly, as if foreshadowing something.

She was suddenly awakened. She had proven through practice that all her dreams had actually happened. So, could what she had just seen have also happened before? She would have to ask her aunts; they would definitely know.

She kept thinking about this in her mind, and when she opened her eyes the next day, she still felt uneasy. There was a mountain behind their village with many big rocks on it. If a landslide really happened, everyone in their village might be buried underneath. By the time they were discovered, it would be too late to rescue them. The air was scarce in the ground and it was easy to suffocate to death.

There was a knock on the door in the morning. Tian Xiaolan thought Lei Zhong had come to get mushrooms so early. When she opened the door, she found a handsome man with eyes and eyebrows that looked a bit like Li Weiguo.

Tian Xiaolan called out uncertainly, "Brother?"

"Xiaolan, are you really okay?" Li Weiqing looked at her in surprise.

Tian Xiaolan quickly opened the door and let him in. "Yes, brother, why did you come back just now? Auntie said you arrived yesterday!"

Li Weiqing wanted to cry when talking about this, "I wanted to come back earlier too, but my bus was late yesterday and I didn't get the bus home, so I walked back. Please don't tell Mom."

Tian Xiaolan gave him a thumbs up and praised him, "Brother, you are really awesome. Come in quickly and don't stay outside in the cold wind."

"Hey, that's no big deal. I'm a real man and I'm not afraid of walking on the road at night!" Li Weiqing said while patting his chest to make the promise.

Li Weiguo was a light sleeper. When he heard voices, he got up and looked, and found that it was Wei Qing who came back. They had received news that he would come back a long time ago, but they waited and waited but didn't see him. Why did he come back at this time? The cars in the town were not open yet.

"You must be hungry, Xiaolan, go get your brother some food."

"No, I'm not that hungry. It will be dawn soon and I can have breakfast. Now I want to take a nap." Li Weiqing put down his bag and fell asleep on Tian Xiaolan's small bed.

It just so happened that Tian Xiaolan couldn't sleep, so she sat next to a few buckets of mushrooms and picked them. She found a backpack, wrapped it with a layer of straw, and put the picked mushrooms in it so that it wouldn't be so conspicuous when Lei Zhong carried it on his back later.

After a while, Lei Zhong came and knocked on the door. Tian Xiaolan opened the door and found that it was him outside. She handed the backpack to him and asked, "You didn't meet anyone else on the way, did you?"

"No." Lei Zhong was very careful along the way, looking back every few steps, and did not find anyone else.

"That's good. Hurry up and carry it back." Tian Xiaolan's hands felt sore after holding the basket for so long.

"So many mushrooms!" He originally thought there were only a few, but when he opened it, he found they were all there.

"These mushrooms will shrink when cooked, and they can only feed a certain number of people." Tian Xiaolan paused, "We still have to think of other ways."

Yesterday he went to see the village chief, but he told him that the matter was left to Hu Chunsheng, and that it was useless for Lei Zhong to ask him. Later, when he went to see Hu Chunsheng, he told him that there were only so many things in the warehouse, and it was up to him to take them or not! He couldn't give him any food even if he asked him.

He was so angry that he hammered the wall on the spot, which scared Hu Chunsheng so much that he almost blurted out that it was Wang Long who told him to do that.

But most of the money went into Wang Long's pocket, and he just cleaned up his mess.

"If you have any ideas, tell me now!"

Tian Xiaolan calmly analyzed the situation with him: "If there's no rice in the granary, then the rice is most likely at the village chief's house. Find an excuse to get him out so we can go to his house and take a look. Families don't have much surplus food these days, so if there's extra, it means he moved it."

"Then shouldn't we go steal?" Lei Zhong still couldn't quite believe it. This was something she could say, and doing such a thing was illegal.

Tian Xiaolan said firmly, "If he's taking food from us working people and only cares about his family's food, without caring about the lives of others, then what he's doing is just capitalism. How can we be considered stealing if we take back our share? What we're doing is right. I know Uncle is a good person. How could you bear to let everyone work all day and not even have a full meal?"

"You have a point. It's ours, so why should his family eat it?" Lei Zhong thought about it. They worked so hard, so why should they give it to his family? He slapped his forehead and decided, "Let's do it tonight."

Tian Xiaolan: "Okay, I have something to tell you tonight, so you have to be mentally prepared!"

"I'm leaving first, otherwise someone might see it and spread the news." Lei Zhong carried the mushroom basket and walked quickly back home. Although it was still a little dark, the road under his feet was as flat as the ground for him.

At dawn, Tian Xiaolan looked at Fang Guihua nervously, "Auntie, do you know if there was a landslide in the past few years?"

Although Fang Guihua found it strange that she was asking this so early in the morning, she thought carefully and said, "I've never heard of this kind of slippery slope since I was born. I only know that as long as your thinking doesn't slip, there are always more solutions than problems."

Tian Xiaolan's heart sank at Fang Guihua's answer. Now that she was certain it wasn't something that had happened before, it was a premonition. Could it be a mudslide in their village? And when would it happen? These questions occupied her mind, leaving her no time to think about anything else.

But Aunt Guihua was right, there are always more solutions than problems. Generally, small animals will exhibit different abnormal behaviors in the hours before a disaster, so she should pay more attention.

Unable to sleep, Tian Xiaolan lit a fire in the kitchen and prepared breakfast. After breakfast, Fang Guihua hurried to the mountain to feed the pigs.

Tian Xiaolan also called Master Zhu, who was sleeping on a mat in the main room, to get up and eat. While they were eating, Li Weimin said, "I heard some murmuring sounds while I was sleeping."

"Uncle Lei and I are talking."

"What? Why is he coming to our house?" Li Weimin's eyes widened. It was so early in the morning. Could it be...

As soon as she saw him, she thought too much. Tian Xiaolan smiled and said, "You misunderstood. He came to me just to get mushrooms."

Li Weimin stood up and looked at the mushroom pot. The mushrooms that were lush yesterday were now only a few seedlings. His voice became higher, "Mushrooms! You gave him all those mushrooms? He can't eat that much!"

Tian Xiaolan said softly, "Keep your voice down. Brother Weimin is still sleeping. Besides, I added mushrooms to his lunch so that everyone would have enough to eat."
