"It's Aunt Suzhen's." Tian Xiaolan couldn't hold the child in her arms, so she lifted him up a bit to prevent him from sliding down. "Xing Yifei, have you seen my brother?"
"He should be working."
Xing Yifei saw that she had no strength left, but hadn't let go yet. He glanced at the baby in Tian Xiaolan's arms and said, "He's that big now, you don't need to hold him."
Tian Xiaolan discussed with him: "Can you come down and walk by yourself? I have no strength left."
The child buried his head in her arms and refused to come out. Xing Yifei sneered, took him out of Tian Xiaolan's arms, and said to Tian Xiaolan, "You go find someone first, I'll take him back."
The child looked at him with tearful eyes, not daring to make a sound. Tian Xiaolan suddenly realized why he was so scared. In this scorching summer, Xing Yifei exuded a chill, like an air conditioner. But his suggestion was not bad. It really wasn't going to be fast enough with him, and it would be dark soon, so it was better to let Xing Yifei take him back first.
Tian Xiaolan touched his head and said, "Listen to this brother. He will take you back to find your mother. He won't hurt you. Don't be afraid."
"Did you hear that? Don't be afraid." Xing Yifei felt the child beside him trembling, so he rubbed his head. "I'll take him away first. Go find them."
Tian Xiaolan looked at him, smiled and said, "Thank you."
Xing Yifei watched Tian Xiaolan go away. As she walked further and further away, he retracted his gaze to look at the little girl, and then he said "Follow me" and strode ahead.
After walking two steps and hearing no sound from behind, Xing Yifei walked over, squatted down and said to him: "If you don't want to go back, just squat here. I heard there are a lot of snakes that like to crawl here. Maybe they like to bite children." When he said this, he put his hands together to form a snake's head and opened his mouth to scare him.
The child was so frightened that tears kept falling down. Seeing the child crying, he suddenly panicked and quickly squatted down, trying to soften his expression. He whispered to the child: "Don't cry, otherwise you will attract snakes."
After hearing what Xing Yifei said, he stopped sobbing, but he couldn't stop crying.
Xing Yifei stretched out his hand, wanting to pat the child's shoulder to comfort him, but he was afraid that his actions would scare the child again, so he stopped his hand in mid-air, looking a little at a loss.
His eyes were filled with anxiety and concern, his brows were slightly furrowed, and he kept saying, "Little friend, I didn't mean to scare you. Now come back with me."
He was still crying, tears rolling down like beads from a broken string, his little face full of fear and grievance.
Xing Yifei scratched his head and suddenly came up with an idea. He took out a candy from his pocket, shook it in front of the child, and said in a gentle voice: "Look, this is a candy. As long as you stop crying, I will give it to you. How about it?"
The child's crying gradually subsided, his eyes were attracted by the candy, and he looked at the candy in his hand while sobbing.
Seeing this, Xing Yifei smiled slightly, slowly handed the candy to the child, and said softly, "Eat it and don't cry anymore."
The child took the candy and finally stopped crying. He wiped the tears from his face with his little hands and looked at him. There was still some timidity in his eyes, but the fear from before was gone.
