Chapter 210: Being Blocked

While Tian Xiaolan was thinking, Wei Wenjie had already prepared the meal and brought it out.

Tian Xiaolan looked around but didn't see Wei Wenjie's father, so she asked, "Is your father not at home?"

Wei Wenjie brought in the dishes and said, "He went out to buy some supplies."

"Oh, let's eat!" he said, going to the kitchen to get the bowls.

The stir-fried vegetables on the table were green and juicy. Tian Xiaolan had already picked up a piece of them with chopsticks to taste. Her mouth was filled with the unique aroma of the vegetables. It was pure, natural and pollution-free, and went very well with rice.

Tian Xiaolan swallowed the food in her mouth and asked: "Wenjie, how much money can you still take out now?"

"My dad left me two hundred yuan. Do you want to go shopping?"

Tian Xiaolan nodded: "It should be about the same. I'm going out for a while."

Wei Wenjie was a little worried: "Where are you going? It's so late now, I'll go with you."

"I'm going to see Sister Zhou. You can come if you want."

After dinner, Tian Xiaolan waited for Wei Wenjie to wash the dishes, closed the door, and went to find Zhou Qiaoqiao.

There was no one on the street outside. Everyone had gone home to cook dinner. Tian Xiaolan was walking in front and Wei Wenjie was protecting her from behind. There were still some scoundrels in the town, and it was very dangerous for her to walk alone at night.

The two of them walked, and Tian Xiaolan hurried forward while it was still light. Not long after, they arrived at a deep and dark alley. There were some debris around, and a wild cat was staring at them. Tian Xiaolan walked to the side to avoid being caught.

Wei Wenjie picked up the pole next to him and used it to drive them away if they rushed over.

"I built this road and planted this tree. If you want to pass through here, you must leave money for passage!"

As they were walking, several people suddenly rushed out from the alley and blocked Tian Xiaolan and the others' way.

Tian Xiaolan looked at them speechlessly. Why are there always people who are not doing their jobs properly? It was right for them to block her way today. She let them know what robbery is. It just so happened that she was short of money. This was something that was delivered to her doorstep, so she would rather take it.

Wei Wenjie took a few steps forward and stood in front of Tian Xiaolan to prevent them from hurting her.

"Hey, who did I think you were? You're just the guy selling sweet soup, why do you have to be a hero to save the damsel in distress? Don't blame me, brother, for not giving you this chance. Give us two hundred so my little brother can have a full meal, and I'll let you go!"

"How could I possibly have so much money? If you don't let me have it, I won't be polite!" She said, moving her arms and looking at him.

The boy uttered these words, his words full of threats: "If you hit us, tell your dad and let him beat you to death!"

Chen Shaohui also began to mock her skills: "You are a nagging woman. You can't win but you can only complain. No wonder the girl you like avoids you!"

"Hit him! Make him shut up!" The boy was so angry that he felt embarrassed in front of his younger brother.

Tian Xiaolan was just listening to them arguing. When she saw that they were about to fight, she grabbed one of them with each hand to stop them from fighting.

Wei Wenjie and Tian Xiaolan were a little confused and didn't understand why she was stopping him.

The boy next to her tried to pry Tian Xiaolan's hands open, but couldn't move them at all. He angrily called his younger brother for help.

The atmosphere on the town's streets was tense. The underlings watched helplessly as their boss was captured, powerless to resist. Fear washed over their faces, and they dared not step forward.

They knew in their hearts that the boss was the best fighter and they couldn't even beat him, so if they went up to him they would simply die. But they wanted to slip away, but they were afraid that the boss would come after them in the future, so they could only stand there stupidly, at a loss.

Seeing them like this, Tian Xiaolan couldn't help but laugh and said, "Can't you guys just talk nicely? We're all from the same town, so it's not good to make such a scene, don't you think?"

However, as she spoke, the hand that was held became more and more painful, as if the bones were about to be crushed. When the young man heard this, he nodded quickly and the strength in his hand was reduced.

Tian Xiaolan still looked at him kindly and continued, "That's right. If I find out that you bully him, it won't be so easy to get away with it next time." Her tone was neither light nor heavy, but it hit the boy's ears like a sledgehammer.

Even though his hand was released, the boy did not think of fighting back.

At this time, the younger brothers saw the red fingerprints on his hands and asked, "Boss, are we still going to fight?"

The young man roared angrily, "Fuck fighting, let's go!" After that, he left in shame with a few people.

The dark alley was filled with silence, as if the noise just now had never happened.

Tian Xiaolan looked at their backs as they left, breathed a sigh of relief, rubbed her wrist, and pondered the right and wrong in this town in her heart.

Wei Wenjie looked at Tian Xiaolan with admiration and said, "Xiaolan, you are so awesome! I can't even beat him!"

Normally he had nothing to do and came here to eat and drink for free. He was always bullied. His father told him that if he met such people, he had to be more aggressive than them, otherwise he would be suppressed. Later he fought back, but still couldn't beat them because they were outnumbered.

Tian Xiaolan: "He probably hasn't had dinner yet, otherwise how could I have immobilized him with just one hand?"

Wei Wenjie didn't find it strange to hear these words from her. Instead, he felt that this was what she should say.

"Do they always beat you?"

Wei Wenjie pretended to be relaxed and said, "No, how could that be possible? I was the one who beat them."

Tian Xiaolan asked worriedly, "He just said your dad beat you, why?"

"If they hadn't brought their parents to complain, I wouldn't have been beaten!"

Because those people would not stop until they saw him being beaten, and they kept shouting that his father must teach him a lesson, usually by beating him with the rod, because in their eyes, a filial son is made under the rod.

So he would stage a chase-and-escape drama with his dad for those who were causing trouble to see.

Tian Xiaolan could feel his helplessness when she heard these words from his mouth. It was obvious that they were the ones who caused the trouble first, but he was the one who was punished. It turned out that people always favor their own children.

"Remember to run away when your dad hits you. Don't get hurt by these bastards. It's not worth it."

Wei Wenjie nodded and said, "You are the first person who cares about me so much. Thank you!"

"What are you thanking me for? Am I not your master?"

The two talked as they walked and came to the door of Zhou Qiaoqiao's house. They knocked twice and the door opened.

He happily pulled Tian Xiaolan in: "Xiaolan, you're here! I saw the things you left for me last time. You said you were going to live here, so why did you bring things with you? It's so awkward."

Tian Xiaolan said sincerely: "Before we lived in your house, you didn't give us anything, and we ate and drank for free for so long. If I don't give you something, I won't be able to live with it!"
