Yu Jiahe was unable to react for a moment. Jiang Yanqing was just a little girl, not even fifteen years old. Old Man Qin had lived a life of integrity, so how could he possibly have such thoughts?
Besides, Old Man Qin’s wife has been dead for many years. If he wanted to find a wife, he would have done so long ago. Why would he wait until he is over 60 to find a little girl and ruin his reputation in his later years?
But at this moment, Yu Jiahe was confused. He quickly stopped and touched his chin, thinking about how to solve this matter.
Now I am not sure what the old man is thinking, and I don’t know what to do. It is even more impossible to inform the Qin family. What if I am wrong? The old man will definitely not let me go.
If I make a mistake and affect the little girl's reputation, I will be a sinner.
After thinking about it, Yu Jiahe decided that he had to go back and keep an eye on the old man to see what he was thinking so that he could come up with a plan to deal with it.
Just as they were passing by a fruit stall, Yu Jiahe went up to buy a watermelon and two kilograms of yellow peaches, then carried them in a net bag and walked back.
When Jiahe returned to the courtyard, Jiang Yanqing and Old Man Qin were sitting in the shade of a tree in the yard playing chess. He could still hear Old Man Qin yelling, "Hey, hey, hey, hurry up! How long have you been thinking about this move?"
Then, an impatient female voice said, "If you keep making noise, I won't play chess with you anymore."
Old man Qin sighed deeply and said nothing more. The yard door was ajar. Yu Jiahe walked forward and pushed it. The yard door creaked open.
Jiang Yanqing was sitting with her back to the courtyard gate. Before she could turn around, Old Man Qin stood up and shouted, "Why are you here again?"
Then Yu Jiahe replied with a smile, "Grandpa, I haven't been here for several days. I missed you. The more I thought about you, the more uncomfortable I felt. I'll accompany you to have dinner before going back."
He walked in shamelessly, waving the watermelon in his hand and said, "Grandpa, I also brought you watermelon and yellow peaches. They are all fresh. I'll go cut some for you."
For the sake of the fruit, and because Jiang Yanqing didn't object, Old Man Qin finally stopped talking and sat down again, saying, "Hurry up."
Jiang Yanqing listened to what Old Man Qin said and guessed who it was. He didn't look back and concentrated on making his own move.
When Old Man Qin sat down, he looked at the chessboard, frowned, and said, "Xiaoqing, how can you play here? I'm about to win."
Jiang Yanqing smiled with an ambiguous smile, "Win, win. You've already lost two games, so winning once will make you happy."
Old Man Qin pointed at Jiang Yanqing and said angrily, "Hey, Xiaoqing, you can't let me win. I have to win fairly."
Two minutes later, Yu Jiahe, who was washing peaches in the kitchen, paused and shook his head helplessly.
"Ahhh...you promised me to win, Xiaoqing, you're so unkind! You're going to piss me off to death."
Old man Qin's wailing was accompanied by a little girl's low laughter.
"Hey, Grandpa Qin, you know the saying 'All is fair in war, no deception is too much'? Before the outcome is decided, we can't let our guard down."
Then came the old man Qin's panting and regretful sounds. Yu Jiahe was stunned when he heard it. When did the old man become so childish?
"Why haven't you washed it yet? You're so clumsy." A roar scared Yu Jiahe so much that he almost threw the peach in his hand away.
He quickly washed the peaches, put them on a plate, and walked out of the kitchen holding the watermelon in one hand and the peaches in the other.
As soon as Old Man Qin saw Yu Jiahe show up, he immediately felt like he had a punching bag and said with disdain, "You're so slow in doing things. You don't act like a real man at all."
Blah blah, Yu Jiahe felt really wronged, but he didn't dare to refute.
He quickly walked to the shade of the tree with the plate in hand and said, "Grandpa, Comrade Xiaoqing, please have some watermelon and yellow peaches."
Jiang Yanqing nodded politely, "Thank you, my name is Jiang Yanqing."
Yu Jiahe also nodded, "You're welcome."
Old Man Qin picked up two pieces of cut watermelon and handed one to Jiang Yanqing. He took a big bite of the watermelon in his hand and said vaguely, "Xiaoqing, eat quickly. Don't be polite with that brat. Let him buy whatever you want to eat. He has money."
Jiang Yanqing cleared his throat and laughed. How could anyone say that to his own grandson? He was truly a real grandfather.
After all, they were not familiar with each other. After eating the fruit, Old Man Qin and Jiang Yanqing continued to play chess. Yu Jiahe didn't say a word to Jiang Yanqing.
Whenever Old Man Qin lost the game, he would curse Yu Jiahe. Jiang Yanqing didn't like just sitting there, so she changed the subject to help him out.
This time, it was almost five o'clock. Old Man Qin had won twice, and his desire to win was overflowing. He kept pulling Jiang Yanqing to continue, and nothing he said was of any use.
But it was almost time for dinner, and Jiang Yanqing had to go back after dinner. It would be bad to delay too late, so Old Man Qin let Jiang Yanqing go for the time being, let her go to cook, and pulled Yu Jiahe to continue playing chess.
Jiang Yanqing entered the kitchen and looked at the gas stove on the stovetop and the stove next to it. All kinds of pots and pans were neatly placed. She nodded with satisfaction. This way she would be in a good mood to cook.
