Chapter 39 Encounter with Fang Mingxiao

Tang Lei gave Jiang Yanqing a phone number, but didn't follow her. He said he had something else to do and left first.

Jiang Yanqing waved and watched Tang Lei walk away with a smile, then walked in the opposite direction along the street she had come from.

Jiang Yanqing secretly took out the watch in the space to check the time. It was almost five o'clock. She thought about finding something delicious to eat before going back.

Jiang Yanqing strolled along for a while, not knowing how long she had walked before she ran into two boys with cross-body bags walking towards her.

Jiang Yanqing's sight happened to fall on a small stall on the roadside. This stall was really unique, as it actually sold pets.

Why do I say it is different? Because it doesn’t seem like something that should exist in this era.

Jiang Yanqing had only seen this kind of stall in night markets in later generations, and she walked over with great interest.

When I got closer, I found that there were quite a few kinds of birds, including birds of various colors, two pure white rabbits in a cage, a small basin of turtles of different sizes, and a white puppy curled up in a ball in the corner.

The vendor was a plump, middle-aged man. He looked at Jiang Yanqing who was approaching with obvious interest, and his mouth was grinning from ear to ear.

Inexplicably, Jiang Yanqing felt like a sucker who had been delivered to her doorstep.

There were few cars on the road these days, and it only took a few seconds to cross the road. Soon Jiang Yanqing squatted in front of the stall.

Jiang Yanqing glanced around, pointed at the white puppy and asked, "Boss, how much is this?"

The middle-aged man smiled and said, "Young comrade, you really have good taste. This dog is a pure and valuable breed."

Jiang Yanqing raised her head and looked at the boss with a half-smile, "Oh~ What rare species are you talking about?"

The middle-aged man's smile froze slightly, but he quickly returned to normal and said, "Little comrade, this is the dog I brought back from Kyoto. I originally sold it for eight dollars, but it's getting dark soon, so I'll charge you five dollars!"

Jiang Yanqing was about to speak when a clear male voice suddenly came from above her head, "Boss, didn't you sell this dog for one dollar yesterday?"

The voice sounded familiar. Jiang Yanqing stood up and turned to look over. It was Fang Mingxiao, who had a calm face, standing straight with a gray bag slung across his body.

Jiang Yanqing frowned. It was really unexpected to meet Fang Mingxiao here.

I greeted him, "What a coincidence, why are you here?"

Fang Mingxiao nodded slightly, opened his thin lips and said, "Don't be fooled."

Jiang Yanqing curled her lips. She was not a naive young girl, so how could she be fooled by such a little trick?

He turned to look at the boss and said, "Boss, you have to be honest in doing business. You can keep this dog for yourself."

After he finished speaking, as he was about to leave, the middle-aged man became anxious. He had finally met someone who was very interested in this little sick dog, so how could he let it go?

I picked it up on the mountainside when I passed by the village. No matter how much I sell it for, I will make a profit.

He sighed twice and said, "Hey, come here, little comrade. I'll sell you this dog for one dollar. Take it!"

"50 cents."

"Oh... okay, fifty cents." The food I fed these days was just like feeding a dog. It was actually fed to a dog, but it was all in vain. I didn't make a single cent. I felt so sad.

The fat man muttered to himself, and quickly took out the little white dog and handed it to Jiang Yanqing, as if he was afraid that Jiang Yanqing would go back on his word.

Jiang Yanqing had her hands free and was worried about where to put the little white dog. Did she have to hold it in her hands and take it back? A gray bag was silently stretched out from the side.

After quickly putting the white dog in, Jiang Yanqing turned around, a smile on her face, and said, "Fang Mingxiao, thank you so much."

She handed over fifty cents and carried the bag in her hand. The white puppy stretched out its head, and its wet eyes made Jiang Yanqing's heart soften. In her previous life, she also loved cute things the most.

Jiang Yanqing and Fang Mingxiao walked aside and asked curiously, "Are you back to school?"

Judging from the outfit, she must have just come out of school.

Fang Mingxiao nodded, looking at Jiang Yanqing's smile, and explained, "The school has some unexpected arrangements tonight, so we'll have the night off."

Jiang Yanqing frowned slightly. "It's too late to go back to the village after a night off. You won't be able to make it back tomorrow morning. Are you going back tonight?"

It's easy to imagine that with such a long distance, Fang Mingxiao should usually live in school, but now that he's out with his schoolbag, he probably can't stay in the dormitory tonight.

Fang Mingxiao didn't answer. He glanced at the puppy Jiang Yanqing was holding and said, "Just return it to me here tomorrow morning. I'm leaving now."
