Chapter 53: The Seedling of No. 1 Middle School

Following her memory, Jiang Yanqing quickly found the teacher's office. The school's classrooms were originally a row of bungalows, and the teacher's office was at the end of the bungalows.

The office door was ajar. Jiang Yanqing reached out and knocked on the door. A gentle male voice responded from inside, "Come in."

Jiang Yanqing gently pushed the door open and looked at the four or five teachers in the room. She was stunned for a moment, and after a moment of reaction, she remembered that her head teacher was the middle-aged man at the back.

Because conditions were limited and there were few teachers in that era, basically every teacher would teach one or two grades, and they were basically in one office.

The teachers in the office also looked up at Jiang Yanqing. For a moment, Jiang Yanqing felt a little nervous. As expected, the oppressive feeling that teachers brought to students was a psychological shadow.

Even after so many years away from school, it's still hard to get rid of it.

After closing the door, Jiang Yanqing walked straight to Teacher Wu and said softly, "Teacher Wu, I'm Jiang Yanqing. Can I go back to school?"

Teacher Wu was holding a teacup in his hand. He had just taken a sip and it was still a little hot. He was blowing away the foam while wondering what age the student was. When someone came closer, he vaguely remembered that this was the student in his class who had been absent from class all the time.

I have to say that the teacher's memory is still very good. Of course, Jiang Yanqing's grades have always been very good, so basically all the teachers have an impression of her.

After Jiang Yanqing finished speaking, Teacher Wu frowned and responded, "So, are you going back to school to start the third grade again?"

Jiang Yanqing shook her head. "Teacher Wu, I want to take the high school entrance exam this year. Although I didn't come to school, I didn't miss my ninth grade classes."

Teacher Wu frowned and thought for a while, then rummaged through the table and pulled out a set of papers. He handed them to Jiang Yanqing and said, "This is the latest monthly exam paper for the ninth grade. Do it and let me see it."

Jiang Yanqing simply took it and sat down on the stool next to him as Teacher Wu pointed. He took out a pen from his schoolbag, glanced at the test paper, and started writing quickly.

Junior high school students in the 1980s generally had to study Chinese, mathematics, geometry, physics, chemistry, English, geography, and politics.

The subjects for the high school entrance examination are Chinese: 100, Mathematics: 100, English: 100, Physics and Chemistry: 60, and Politics: 100, for a total of 460 points.

Jiang Yanqing wrote for two hours without stopping. She didn't even notice when Teacher Wu came back from class. After finishing a stack of papers, she shook her hand and handed them over.

"Teacher Wu, take a look."

Teacher Wu had just sat down and saw Jiang Yanqing writing seriously. He read with interest for a while. When Jiang Yanqing stopped writing, he looked up at the old-fashioned wall clock and realized that only two hours had passed.

After taking a sip of tea, he asked, "How many subjects did you study?"

Jiang Yanqing stood up and replied, "Teacher, I've finished writing."

Teacher Wu flipped through the test paper in surprise. Sure enough, it was filled out completely. He finished the test paper that would take two days to complete in just two hours. He didn't just write it randomly, right?

It’s no wonder that Teacher Wu doubted Jiang Yanqing. After all, she hadn’t been to school for more than half a year. Even if she had a good foundation before, she still had to slowly pick up the knowledge!

As for cheating, it is definitely impossible. There are so many teachers watching me in the office, and there is only a Chinese textbook on my desk.

Without wasting any time, Teacher Wu stood up and distributed the papers and answers to the teachers who were still in the office, asking them to help mark them.

In just twenty minutes, all the papers were back on Teacher Wu's desk: Chinese 96, Mathematics 100, English 100, Physics and Chemistry 54, Politics 80.

The total score was 460, and Jiang Yanqing scored 430. The points were deducted because she was not familiar with the current expressions of some words in politics.

After looking through all the papers, Teacher Wu really stared at Jiang Yanqing, completely ignoring the boiling hot tea that had just been filled with water, and poured it into his mouth.

The result was predictable. He shuddered from the heat and narrowly avoided spitting out tea on Jiang Yanqing's feet. Jiang Yanqing smiled bitterly and called out, "Teacher Wu, are you okay?"

Teacher Wu took a deep breath, calmed the burning sensation in his mouth, and then pretended nothing had happened. He said seriously, "Why are there so many deductions for politics?"

Jiang Yanqing replied helplessly, "I lost my political book, so I don't remember a lot of it."

A politics teacher nearby gasped and said, "Old Wu, your student is really something. Even with his books lost, he still managed to get such high scores. He's a promising student at the No. 1 High School in the city!"

In any era, any teacher hopes that his or her students will be as successful as possible. It is a responsibility to teach and educate, as well as a sense of accomplishment of being a role model.
