Chapter 8 The Goodwill of the Qi Family

After waiting for about twenty minutes, Aunt Lin called for dinner. Qi Jiale jumped up excitedly, ran out, and went to the kitchen to help serve the noodles.

Although reform and opening up have been implemented and people's lives have been greatly improved, it is still rare for ordinary families to eat pure white flour.

Generally, it is two or three liang of noodles, and the black market still exists to meet the needs of families with spare money to improve their lives.

This also appeared in Jiang Yanqing's memory. Before, Jiang's parents were very good to the original owner. When the meat coupons were used up, they secretly went to the black market to buy expensive meat to improve the original owner's diet.

Four full bowls of white noodles looked extremely tempting. Jiang Yanqing had eaten too much of the rich delicacies of later generations, and when he smelled the fragrance of the noodles, his appetite was also aroused.

Not to mention the two Qi brothers who were extremely hungry. They were almost drooling, but it was Jiang Yanqing who was there and helped them restrain themselves.

Sitting at the dinner table, Aunt Lin picked up a piece of dried radish with chopsticks and said kindly, "Qing girl, just eat something for lunch. In the evening, ask your Uncle Qi to buy some meat and I will make you braised pork."

Jiang Yanqing knew that this was just Aunt Lin's polite words. In this day and age, being able to use white flour to entertain guests showed how much thought she put into it.

I quickly replied, "Auntie, you are so kind. These white noodles are better than anything I have eaten in the past six months. I am so sorry to bother you."

She seemed very moved and lowered her head. Aunt Lin couldn't bear it, so she touched Jiang Yanqing's head and said with a forced smile, "Okay, okay, let's eat quickly, or you'll get noodles later."

Qi Jiale had been waiting since his mother hadn't touched her chopsticks. Now, as if granted amnesty, he took a large piece of noodles, put it in his mouth, and sighed contentedly, "It's delicious."

The four of them finished the noodles in a hurry. Even the noodle soup at the bottom of the pot was drunk up by the two brothers, leaving nothing.

After dinner, Aunt Lin asked Qi Jiale to wash the dishes. Tomorrow is Sunday, so she has half a day off this afternoon.

Qi Jiahui still had to go to the factory to work, so he said goodbye and left.

Jiang Yanqing was originally going to wash dishes with Qi Jiale, but was pulled back by Aunt Lin, who said that Qi Jiale liked to wash dishes and would get angry with anyone who competed with him for the job.

Jiang Yanqing couldn't help laughing. Fortunately, Qi Jiale couldn't hear the clattering in the kitchen, otherwise she would have burst into tears. How could he betray his own mother like this?

Aunt Lin took Jiang Yanqing to clean up the house. The Qi family had three bedrooms, one for Aunt Lin and her lover, and the other was where Qi Jiaming lived when he was still at home while he was serving in the army.

There is another one where the two brothers Qi Jiahui and Qi Jiale live. Qi Jiahui has a dormitory in the factory, but he only comes back to live there occasionally.

So Jiang Yanqing was arranged to stay in the empty room of Qi Jiaming. He took out the washed and sealed quilt to dry it in the sun and cleaned the dust inside. Jiang Yanqing would stay here tonight.

As to why Jiang Yanqing didn't go back to her own home, it was because she didn't have the key. When she returned to the countryside, all the useful things were looted by the Jiang family.

Even the nicer-looking clothes were snatched away by Wang Dahong, leaving some for Jiang Yanyan. The two were about the same age and had similar body shapes.

Part of it was sent to her mother's family as a favor. The poor little girl who owned it had to endure a whole winter in tattered clothes, but she eventually lost her life.

In the afternoon, Jiang Yanqing accompanied Aunt Lin to sow seeds at home. Qi Jiale was strong and was responsible for turning the soil. The yards here were big, and basically every family would open a vegetable garden in the yard, so they didn't have to go out to buy vegetables all year round.

Jiang Yanqing's family also has one, but Jiang Fubao and his wife are so lazy that they probably just abandoned it.

Around five in the afternoon, Aunt Lin's husband, Qi Aiguo, came back carrying a piece of pork belly. Seeing Jiang Yanqing and Aunt Lin sitting in the yard winding yarn, he smiled and said, "Oh, you're busy!"

Jiang Yanqing stood up and called out politely, "Uncle Qi, you're back."

Qi Aiguo nodded, handed the book to Qi Jiale who was reading on the side, and said, "I'm back. Qing girl looks thinner. There was a meeting at the mine this afternoon. Tomorrow your uncle Zhou and I will go and seek justice for you."

As he spoke, he shook his lips and seemed very angry.

Aunt Lin also echoed, "When the incident happened, I said that the Jiang family didn't look like a good family. They had split up a long time ago, and they weren't very friendly. Sigh..."

"If you had listened to me and brought Qing girl back home to raise her, she wouldn't have suffered so much."

Qi Aiguo glanced at his wife disapprovingly. "You're just too naive. If we had brought Qing back, how would the people at the mine look at us? They'd have thought we were after the pension."

As she spoke, she seemed to remember that Jiang Yanqing was still beside her. It was not nice to say these things in front of her. She glared at Qi Jiale and went into the house with her hands behind her back.

Qijiale...

So innocent.
