Chapter 7 The Qi Family

Before Aunt Lin could push open the gate, it suddenly opened from the inside and a young boy ran out.

He was originally in high spirits, but when he saw Aunt Lin standing at the door, he suddenly behaved himself and asked, "Mom, where have you been in the middle of the day? My brother and I are starving."

Aunt Lin slapped the boy on the head and said disdainfully, "You're already grown up, can't you cook a bowl of noodles for yourself?"

"If I ever end up in bed, you can just wait to starve to death."

The boy touched his head, chuckled, and said, "Mom, if that day really came, my brother and I would have gotten married long ago."

Speaking of daughter-in-law, it is also what Aunt Lin is most worried about. Her eldest son is in the army and has no time to date. He is almost 25 years old and is still a bachelor.

As for the second brother, he is twenty years old this year and has some time, but it seems like he has no interest in women. He said that he won’t get married unless his eldest brother does.

The youngest one is lively and good at coaxing people with his mouth, but he is still studying and has to prepare for the crucial college entrance examination, so he won't be able to get married in the short term.

After the boy finished speaking, he noticed Jiang Yanqing standing beside him. He exclaimed in surprise before asking uncertainly, "Are you Yanqing's sister?"

Jiang Yanqing nodded and greeted with a smile, "It's me. It's only been half a year since we last met, and Brother Jiale doesn't recognize me?"

Qi Jiale touched his head embarrassedly, thinking, it’s only been half a year since we last met, how come the person has changed so much?

Jiang Yanqing, who used to work in the mine, was the most beautiful girl in the entire coal mine. She was pretty, lively and lovely.

Now, he looks pale and thin, and looks like he is about to fall over if a gust of wind blows towards him. Only the outline of his face can be recognized.

"Sister Yan Qing, are you having a hard time in the countryside? Are you always hungry? Look how thin you are. If I didn't have good eyesight, I really wouldn't have recognized you."

The look in his eyes when he looked at Jiang Yanqing was filled with a hint of sympathy, but not disgust.

Aunt Lin was afraid that Jiang Yanqing would be embarrassed. Why would this naughty boy come up and expose someone's scars?

He slapped Qi Jiale on the head again and said angrily, "We're having noodles for lunch. Go ask your brother to get the white flour out of the cupboard. Where's your dad?"

Qi Jiale was no fool. He regretted asking the question right after he opened his mouth. He tactfully didn't ask any further questions. He walked inside while answering, "Dad said he went out for a drink at noon and won't be back for dinner."

Aunt Lin pulled Jiang Yanqing and comforted her, "Qing girl, your brother Le can't speak, don't mind it, he's just a silly pig."

Jiang Yanqing's lips curled up, but she held back her laughter. Qi Jiale said unconvincedly, "Mom, how can you say that about your own son?"

Aunt Lin rolled her eyes at Qi Jiale and ignored him. She dragged Jiang Yanqing to the main room, where there was a young man sitting who was obviously older than Qi Jiale.

Jiang Yanqing also greeted politely, "Brother Jiahui."

The man stood up and nodded, "Sister Yan Qing." After that, he was pulled away by Qi Jiale to get the flour.

Aunt Lin asked Jiang Yanqing to sit on the stool, then took out the brown sugar from the cupboard and made a cup of sugar water for Jiang Yanqing. She said, "Qing girl, just drink the sugar water like this. Auntie will go to cook. Eat more later."

Jiang Yanqing stood up and said politely, "Auntie, let me help you. I know how to make noodles now."

Aunt Lin couldn't help but feel sad again. Although girls do need to learn how to cook, who would be willing to learn in this way?

That being said, it was Jiang Yanqing's first visit and it was under such circumstances. Aunt Lin refused to let Jiang Yanqing go to help and instead asked Qi Jiale to take Jiang Yanqing to read books together.

After all, Jiang Yanqing hasn't come back to school for such a long time, which shows that the Jiang family has no intention of supporting Jiang Yanqing to go to college.

But this time it’s different. After getting justice for Jiang Yanqing, this child must go back to school. What else can a child of this age do if he doesn’t study hard?

In other words, the Jiang family is so heartless that they tortured such a good and lovely girl.

It would be fine if Jiang Yanqing was a girl who grew up in the countryside, but she was also a city girl before, raised in pampered conditions. Once her parents died, she fell from heaven to hell. How could one not feel sorry for her?
