Chapter 30 Incident

When Hou Guifang returned, she looked extremely grim.

Sheng Qian hurriedly asked, "Aunt Fang, what happened? You look so pale."

"Something happened to Yunting's father."

"What happened to Uncle Feng? Is he alright?" Sheng Qian still had a good impression of Long Haifeng.

Hou Guifang turned her face away, and tears welled up in her eyes and streamed down her face.

Hou Guifang wiped it with her sleeve.

"When did this happen?" Sheng Qian found it strange. Logically speaking, she shouldn't have specifically called Hou Guifang to inform her of something like this.

After all, Hou Guifang was still here taking care of Long Yunting.

“I only found out about this when my relatives called. Everyone in the Long family was trying to keep it from me,” Hou Guifang said, her voice choked with emotion.

Sheng Qian thought for a moment and asked, "Should we go back to the capital for a visit?"

"Yunting, can you manage here all by yourself?" Hou Guifang asked, her voice choked with emotion.

Upon hearing this, Sheng Qian knew that Long Haifeng's situation was very serious. "Aunt Fang should go back as soon as possible and then come back as soon as possible."

Sheng Qian calculated that she would need to stay here for a while longer, and taking care of someone lying in bed was still manageable.

Aside from specific times, Long Yunting doesn't need much care.

Hou Guifang was still hesitating.

Having spent time with Sheng Qian, Hou Guifang has come to understand Sheng Qian's character.

A person who can act on their impulses is definitely not timid or cowardly, and they care about their son quite a bit.

Even if she were the mother, she wouldn't have wiped Long Yunting's body as carefully as Sheng Qian.

Hou Guifang heard from that relative that Long Haifeng had been admitted to the critical care ward and that a critical condition notice had been issued.

If she can make it back this time, she might be able to see Long Haifeng.

After both father and son suffered misfortunes, Hou Guifang was so devastated that she almost lost her footing.

He was still holding onto the armrest of the wooden sofa.

A mist seemed to be obscuring my view.

She gritted her teeth and held on.

Sheng Qian noticed that Hou Guifang's condition was not right, so she came over and helped her to sit on the sofa, and then gave Hou Guifang some medicine to take orally.

After taking the medicine given to Hou Guifang by Sheng Qian, her buzzing head finally cleared up.

"What kind of medicine did you give me?" Hou Guifang didn't care what she had eaten at this point; she just asked casually to make sure she hadn't fainted.

“Some medicine to relieve nervous tension,” Sheng Qian patted her back, “I’ll go pack your clothes and we’ll leave in a car right away.”

"Thank you for your help..." Hou Guifang was completely lost and didn't know what to pack.

Sheng Qian packed all of Hou Guifang's belongings into a suitcase and gave Hou Guifang a bottle of medicine: "This is a fast-acting life-saving medicine. One pill can keep the patient going for a few days."

Hou Guifang accepted the gift haphazardly, but ultimately maintained a degree of composure and made a phone call to have someone drive over to take her out of town.

Less than two hours later, someone drove up and picked up Hou Guifang.

During the two hours of waiting, Hou Guifang kept giving instructions to Sheng Qian.

Sheng Qianyi agreed to them all.

After seeing Hou Guifang off, Sheng Qian returned home, sat down by Long Yunting's bed, stared at the soundly sleeping man, pressed her temples, and said with distress, "Now look what's happened, I'm stuck here all by myself. Your father had an accident, don't you want to wake up and go back to see him? You might never see him again, can you really be so heartless?"

The person in bed remained motionless.

"Forget it, what's the point of talking to someone like you who doesn't want to wake up?" I'd rather go do her thing.

While Sheng Qian was making dinner, Zhang Shunlin and Zhao Niangen arrived.

The two lingered outside hesitantly, almost being mistaken for thieves by people nearby.

They both did indeed commit theft.

Sheng Qian put down her work, wiped her hands and came out. She wasn't surprised to see the two of them. "You're here. Come in and sit down."

"Are you home alone?" Zhao Niangen didn't dare to come in.

“Yes, what, you still want to steal it?” Sheng Qian raised an eyebrow.

"No, I wouldn't dare..." Zhao Niangen quickly waved his hand, "We came to ask you what you plan to do in the future."

"Wait until I've eaten first. Are you sure you're not coming in?" Sheng Qian asked, pointing inside.

Zhang Shunlin was getting impatient. "We won't go in. Let's talk somewhere else after you finish eating. It's not appropriate for us to go in since you're home alone."

He pointed in a direction and said, "We'll be waiting for you at the fork in the road to the west."

He then strode away after saying that.

Sheng Qian thought to herself, "That's quite thoughtful."

I know that it's easy to get into trouble these days.

As the saying goes, "A widow's doorstep is always a source of gossip." If someone sees this, who knows what kind of filthy things they'll say behind her back.

Sheng Qian quickly finished her meal and went to the fork in the road as Zhang Shunlin had instructed.

The two of them squatted there, gnawing on a hard steamed bun.

Seeing her arrive, he quickly got up.

Zhao Niangen, in particular, stood up and asked somewhat eagerly, "When will we start doing something big!"

"Don't rush, we have to take it one step at a time," Sheng Qian gestured for them to squat down, and then squatted down herself.

The three of them squatted in the darkness and talked for quite a while.

Zhang Shunlin listened to Sheng Qian's vision of the future and felt it was all very unreal.

"To do these things, we need permits and our own staff..."

“I’ll take care of the permits. As for manpower, we can hire workers once we have the money. Look at the people in the brigade, there are too many monks and not enough porridge. As long as we open up this market, we can get things running. In the future, you can become coal bosses.”

Zhang Shunlin still felt it was unreliable.
