"Did your sister say she'd come pick you up and take you somewhere to stay?"
During lunch, Sheng Guanhua received a message from Sheng Qian. Zhou Shi happened to see it and, while everyone was enjoying their meal, whispered a question.
Sheng Guanhua's face lit up with joy. "My sister said she's made all the arrangements. I'll send you my location later, and we can still hang out together in Beijing."
"Um."
Zhou seemed hesitant to speak.
"What's wrong?"
Sheng Guanhua subconsciously moved closer.
Zhou Shi stepped back slightly, glanced at Sheng Guanhua's handsome profile, and said, "I was just thinking that the three of us could stay together and then have some fun by ourselves for a few days."
“There will be that opportunity; we’re even on the same campus.” Sheng Guanhua nudged Zhou Shi lightly with his elbow. “Why are you acting like a girl, all clingy?”
His voice was low, tinged with amusement.
Zhou Shi's ears burned, and she glared at him, "Go away, who's the girl? You're the one who looks like a girl."
That's right.
Sheng Guanhua is fair-skinned and looks like a girl.
Sheng Guanhua sat back down speechlessly. "Let's eat."
Zhou smiled silently, glanced at Sheng Guanhua again, and then looked away.
"What are you two whispering about?" Fang Runqing leaned over to eavesdrop, but Sheng Guanhua pushed her away.
"It's hot, don't get so close."
Fang Runqing's lips twitched slightly. Why didn't you feel hot when you were all together just now?
Zhou Shi said, "Don't bother him. Let's eat. You still need to go shopping later, so eat quickly and go."
Fang Runqing was a bit oblivious, and upon hearing this, she immediately put her thoughts aside and said, "That's right, I still need to buy some Beijing specialties to take back to my parents."
Fang Runqing's family also came, but they were in a hurry to go back. Fang Runqing's parents wanted to go back, and Zhou Shi's parents also wanted to go back together, and also take care of Fang Runqing's parents who had never been far from home.
The specialties of the capital are just a few things. Zhou's parents are business people and often travel around, so they don't bring those specialties with them.
"Aren't your parents coming back?" Zhou asked in a low voice.
“We probably won’t be going back so soon,” Sheng Guanhua said.
There was a hint of disappointment in Zhou's eyes.
If both of their parents left Beijing in advance, they could live together and move around the city freely.
Having parents around can feel restrictive in some ways.
After the meal, Sheng Guanhua told Sheng Li and the others that Sheng Qian would come to pick them up later.
“This girl finally remembered we’re in Beijing,” Luo Minjuan couldn’t help but complain. “We made more than a dozen calls before she didn’t answer. If it weren’t for Zhou’s parents, we would be sleeping on the streets right now.”
"Alright, that's enough. Everyone's here," Sheng Li said, though he was also angry, but he held back because the parents of Sheng Guanhua's two classmates were present.
He can't afford to lose face.
Zhou Shi and Fang Runqing's parents gave a slightly embarrassed smile.
"When did she say she was coming?" Luo Minjuan asked, suppressing her anger.
Sheng Guanhua said, "They're here now. They told us to wait outside."
"Why didn't you say so sooner, child?" Luo Minjuan looked at the parents of the two classmates and smiled, "Mr. and Mrs. Zhou, do you want to find a place to sit down first?"
“No need, let’s just wait here together,” Zhou’s father said with a smile. “Since we are your family, let’s go shopping together when we get there. After shopping today, we should go back tomorrow.”
If we delay any longer in Beijing, our family business will be in trouble.
They came to Beijing to familiarize their children with the environment beforehand, and to see what universities in Beijing look like, what procedures are required, and so on.
If they have time when school starts, they will come over.
If they can't make it in time, let the children go to register on their own.
Zhou Shi's parents trusted him completely, but they didn't care about anyone else.
Zhou Shi is the eldest son in his family. He has an older sister, two younger brothers, and a younger sister.
The family members are doing alright.
With a good family background, Zhou Shi lived a much better life than others. As the eldest son, he was also more mature and stable in many ways.
Upon hearing that Sheng Qian's parents had come to the capital, the whole family wanted to come and meet them.
There are too many people, and I'm afraid they'll be frightened.
In the end, only Hou Guifang and Long Yucheng accompanied the couple to meet people.
"The old man said that after picking them up, he would take them home. Xiaoqian, since your in-laws don't live at home, they should at least visit. Let's have them treat us to a meal."
Hou Guifang had met Sheng Li and his group before, and she disliked Sheng Li from the bottom of her heart.
But who can blame them when Sheng Li is Sheng Qian's father?
"I will let them know, but it will be a hassle for my family."
"No trouble at all, we're overjoyed."
“Yes, sister-in-law, it’s rare for us to have guests over, so please let us do our best,” Long Yucheng chimed in.
Sheng Qian smiled and nodded upon hearing this, saying that she would decide whether to go to the Long family after meeting them.
They waited in front of the restaurant for about twenty minutes before seeing the group of people who were late.
When they saw the person being pushed in a wheelchair, Zhou Shi and Fang Runqing's parents were both taken aback.
Zhou Shi and Fang Runqing exchanged a glance.
"Brother-in-law, sister!"
Sheng Guanhua smiled and waved.
Then I took two steps forward.
"This is Aunt Fang, and this is your brother-in-law's younger brother, Long Yucheng. He's two years older than you, so you can call him 'brother'."
"Aunt Fang, Brother Yucheng!"
Sheng Guanhua greeted the other party with a smile.
