Chapter 32 Making Favors

"Why are you all blocking my doorway?" Sheng Qian pushed her bicycle aside and nimbly moved behind the crowd.

The women gathered in front of her house turned around and saw Sheng Qian. They asked urgently, "Qian, has your mother-in-law left?"

Sheng Qian breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the gate was intact and undamaged.

Hearing them asking all at once about Hou Guifang's whereabouts, he said, "Aunt Fang went back to the city on business. What's wrong? Do you need her for something?"

"Is your mother-in-law coming back?" A woman tugged at Sheng Qian's clothes, looking extremely anxious.

Sheng Qian frowned and tugged at the hem of her clothes. "They'll be back, so you don't need to worry about them running away. What's wrong? Tell me quickly, and I'll do what I can. As for what I can't do, we'll have to wait until they come back."

Hearing Sheng Qian's words, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back!"

They finally managed to get in touch with Hou Guifang; if she leaves, where will they find such a connection?

Families with both daughters and sons often seek a better alternative path.

Those with daughters want to marry someone better, while those with sons want to find a respectable job.

It would be even better if I could get a job in the county town!

Perhaps it was because of Long Yunting's impressive abilities that people within a hundred miles knew about it and kept flocking to Hou Guifang's place.

When the person suddenly left, they were frantic and took this opportunity to come and confirm things.

Sheng Qian's words reassured them, but then they realized that it was really inappropriate for them to be making such a racket in front of someone else's house, and they felt a little embarrassed.

Someone pulled out the order form that had been given to Hou Guifang earlier: "Qian girl, we placed an order with your mother-in-law a couple of days ago for the fragrant balm you made. Can we pick it up now?"

"Yes, yes! We were worried that if your mother-in-law passed away, we wouldn't be able to get the ointment we wanted."

"Qian girl's skills are really good; she can even make ointment like this!"

"As expected of the Long family's daughter-in-law, she's truly capable!"

One compliment after another left Sheng Qian speechless.

"You wait here, I'll go in and get the ointment, then I'll collect them one by one. Once the goods are in hand, the money will be there." Placing an order is one thing, but without money, there's no money either.

"Oh dear, I'll go back and get the money first. Qian, you wait here!" An older woman slapped her thigh, turned around, and jogged back to get the money.

Most of the people didn't have any money on them, so they turned around and went back to get some.

Half of the people paid Sheng Qian on the spot, said a few nice words with smiles, and left.

Sheng Qian knew that all these people were buying her medicated balm only because of the Long family's influence.

During this period, it was impossible to produce too many varieties; there were only three sample versions.

Shengqian didn't sell them at high prices; they were all prices that they could afford.

Two yuan.

The medicinal herbs she used were all readily available in the mountains; she just added a little labor cost and a temporary storage fee.

If you put it all together, you can still make a little money, maybe two yuan.

Even small amounts of money are money, and Sheng Qian plans to register a brand.

I need to create a brand and register my own clothing; otherwise, if someone steals my stuff, I'll have no recourse.

Sheng Qian still needs to keep an eye on Long Yunting; she has to wait for the Long family to arrive before she can do anything else.

By the time they had all brought money to buy the balm she was holding, Sheng Qian was starving.

Looks like I need to put some dry food in my spatial storage, so that even if some disaster happens, I can be self-sufficient.

I grabbed a quick lunch and glanced at the clock on my phone; it was almost two o'clock.

Pan Feng, who had just returned home with the medicated balm, was examining it when she saw Gao Xiufang limping out. Pan Feng was furious. "You useless thing, what are you doing out here again? Are you trying to embarrass us? Our family lost fifty yuan, and we wouldn't even get fifty yuan if we sold you!"

He then started hitting Gao Xiufang.

After being beaten last time, Gao Xiufang lay in bed for nearly twenty hours. She had just come out when she ran into Pan Feng who had returned.

"Ouch...it hurts, Mom, it hurts so much."

"Pain? I don't think you feel any pain at all. It's a miracle you weren't broken. Where are you going to find fifty yuan to give back to your family? You good-for-nothing! What's the use of raising you? I think we should hurry up and marry you off so your dowry can make up for this fifty yuan!"

Gao Xiufang was beaten and cried out in pain, falling to the ground and unable to get up for a long time.

She was in so much pain that she was convulsing.

She never expected that the person she bumped into that day would be Old Man Ye, who came from the city. Although no one knew what the old man did, the fact that he had someone taking care of him indicated that he was no ordinary person.

As for that guy named Chen Junyi, he has connections in the county seat and also in the town.

So that day, Old Man Ye came to the Gao family to ask for an apology and paid them fifty yuan on the spot.

The Gao family members then dragged Gao Xiufang and started beating her.

Gao Xiufang hadn't run far when she was pinned down and beaten again, dragged all the way home and beaten back.

Pan Feng got tired of hitting and started cursing again. The neighbors could hear it clearly, but no one came in to interfere.

Gao Xiufang crawled back to her room, choking back sobs, sobbing uncontrollably.

Pan Feng cursed as she walked into the room. Gao Sanwang returned from chatting outside, not caring at all about his daughter being beaten. For them, this was just an everyday occurrence.

"What are you applying?" Gao Sanwang frowned, staring at Pan Feng who was applying something to a broken mirror.

Pan Feng said, "Isn't it all to curry favor with the Long family?"

Gao Sanwang's furrowed brows relaxed; Pan Feng had told him about this.
