Chapter 36 National Talents

Zhao Niangen's lack of resolve made Zhang Shunlin extremely frustrated.

Sheng Qian is right; he can't help Zhao Niangen forever.

If Zhao Niangen can take good care of himself, that would be the best outcome.

Zhang Shunlin was frustrated because Sheng Qian could keep Zhao Niangen with just one sentence, and now she could persuade Zhao Niangen with just a few more words.

Sheng Qian really knows how to exploit Zhao Niangen's weaknesses, and she gets them right every time.

Zhang Shunlin turned and left without listening to Zhao Niangen's answer.

Zhao Niangen's silence has already said it all.

Zhao Niangen watched Zhang Shunlin walk away and opened his mouth as if to call him back.

"Ignore him."

"But Dalin has always taken good care of me."

He would feel guilty if Zhang Shunlin left alone.

“If you succeed in the future, you can help him more,” Sheng Qian pointed to the line drawing in his hand. “Take it back and look at it yourself. Here is fifty yuan. Take it and buy some daily necessities for yourselves. Also, these four sets of clothes, two sets for each of you.”

Sheng Qian handed him the bag that was placed at her feet.

"Our clothes?"

“I made them, so they should fit well. If you feel uncomfortable wearing them, bring them back and I'll alter them for you. If Zhang Shunlin doesn't want them, you can wear them all, since you two are about the same height anyway.”

Zhao Niangen held the clothes in his hand, looking somewhat dazed.

"What? You don't want it?"

“No, no…it’s just that no one has ever made clothes for me before,” Zhao Niangen’s ears turned red.

"I'm also getting you a couple of sets to change into. Go back and find Zhang Shunlin."

Sheng Qian waved her hand and was about to leave.

"Will Dalin leave?" Zhao Niangen still felt a little reluctant, after all, he and Zhang Shunlin had played together since childhood, and both of them were in bad shape.

When Zhang Shunlin was five years old, he dragged his mother away, not wanting her to leave. Later, his mother still resolutely left the village. Later, it was said that his mother remarried and was doing quite well.

His father remarried around that time, and his stepmother gave birth to two younger brothers and two younger sisters.

With a stepmother comes a stepfather.

His father had kicked him out long ago.

Zhang Shunlin seemed to have a grudge against his father, and they would fight whenever they met.

Zhao Niangen knew that Zhang Shunlin disliked this place very much, but he hadn't left.

Zhao Niangen thought that part of the reason might be because of himself.

Therefore, he still felt guilty towards Zhang Shunlin.

Sheng Qian gazed in the direction Zhang Shunlin had left and said, "If you can persuade him, he will stay."

"Sheng Qian, is this thing... really dangerous?" Zhao Niangen looked at the line drawing in his hand with some unease.

Sheng Qian narrowed her eyes slightly, her voice somewhat distant: "That depends on which direction you develop in. If you can become a talent for the country, that would be a tremendous good thing."

"National talent?"

Zhao Niangen never imagined that he could one day become a talent of the country; all he thought about every day was how to survive.

Seeing the confusion in his eyes, Sheng Qian guided him: "Once you show your talent, I will find a way to help you break into it. What happens after that is up to you."

"And what about you?"

"I?"

"With such amazing skills, why don't you use your connections with the Long family to get into a better place and forge a better path?" Zhao Niangen couldn't understand.

Sheng Qian twitched the corner of her mouth. "I'm a girl, unlike you boys. Those kinds of places only have men."

Zhao Niangen didn't know the ins and outs of the matter, so he just believed Sheng Qian's words.

"That's such a pity."

"That's why I want you to take a good look. If you're interested and can learn it, I'll teach you when I have time." Sheng Qian then handed over the fifty yuan he hadn't taken: "Consider this my salary for you. Take it. If you feel it's too hot to handle, then study hard and repay me when you're successful in the future."

"Thank you..." Zhao Niangen accepted the money and clothes.

She felt extremely grateful to Sheng Qian.

Sheng Qian waved her hand, turned around and left.

Zhao Niangen took the things Sheng Qian had given him to Zhang Shunlin.

Sheng Qian returned home and continued to tinker with her clothes.

I still went to bathe Long Yunting that night.

Hou Guifang has been gone for so long, and she hasn't called once. I wonder what the situation is like in Beijing.

The next day, after Sheng Qian had breakfast, she opened the door and saw Dr. Tan arrive.

He was carrying a medical kit, just like last time.

"Is Madam Long not here?"

"Didn't Aunt Fang tell Dr. Tan?" Sheng Qian raised an eyebrow.

I've been gone for so long, and I haven't received a single phone call.

Sheng Qian had the illusion that Long Yunting had been abandoned.

Dr. Tan shook his head in puzzlement. "I'll go in and check on him first."

Sheng Qian nodded and stepped aside.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure peeking out and quickly retreating.

Sheng Qian closed the door.

Dr. Tan examined Long Yunting using Western medical instruments and said to Sheng Qian in surprise, "His condition has improved, even more surprisingly than before. It's only a matter of time before he wakes up. Keep a close eye on him recently. Here's my phone number. Take this and call me if anything happens."

Sheng Qian took the phone number he wrote down, thanked him, and saw him out.

After standing at the door for a while, Sheng Qian turned to go back inside, but then noticed that some people nearby were glancing over from time to time.

At that moment, a figure suddenly rushed over, his face as gloomy as if it were stained with ink.

With a gloomy face, he strode up to Sheng Qian and raised his hand to hit her.
