Chapter 7: Revealing wealth attracts unwanted attention.

With a loud "bang".

The door was almost knocked down.

Sheng Qian walked out slowly.

He glanced indifferently at the Sheng family who squeezed in.

Seeing her cold reaction, Old Madam Sheng immediately started cursing, "You little bitch, I'll beat you to death!"

Despite her advanced age, the old lady charged forward with incredible speed and power when she picked up a weapon.

Seeing them rushing towards her recklessly, Sheng Qian moved aside to avoid them.

Ouch!

The hoe in Sheng Hongyang's hand narrowly missed Grandma Sheng's forehead, hitting her there.

Grandma Sheng fell to the ground on the spot, crying out "Ouch, ouch!"

The sound was like a loudspeaker, extremely shrill.

Ouch!

Sheng Qian plopped down on the edge of the door. People outside peeked in and saw Sheng Hongyang's hoe lying at Sheng Qian's feet. They thought Sheng Qian had been hit, and the villagers couldn't help but gasp.

With one swing of the hoe, Qianya was injured, though it was unclear where.

"It hurts so much! They're killing me! They're going to kill me! Help!"

Sheng Ping was startled by Sheng Qian's shout!

Isn't it a competition to see who can howl the loudest?

Then she'll join them in howling a few times!

Grandma Sheng's astonished gaze swept over, and her voice abruptly stopped as she stared wide-eyed at Sheng Qian, who was sitting on the ground howling.

Sheng Hongyang was also stunned for a moment.

Realizing what had happened, his face turned ashen.

"You wretched girl, who told you to learn all this nonsense? Who taught you? Get up! If you don't get up, I'll beat you to death on the spot."

Sheng Hongyang had never seen a junior dare to turn the tables on his elders like this, especially after Sheng Qianhao's outburst, which drew all eyes to him. He was so angry he felt like his lungs were about to explode, and his eyes were filled with a fierce glint.

"Stop, Brother Sheng, what are you doing?" The village chief's voice came with a stern tone.

Sheng Hongyang, who had picked up the hoe again, froze in mid-air.

The village chief came in and snatched the hoe from Sheng Hongyang's hand.

“Village chief, this wretched girl hit my precious grandson first, and she has no respect for her elders. She married into a good family, but she turned her back on us as soon as she came back.”

Seeing this, Old Mrs. Sheng started wailing again, pointing at Sheng Qian and accusing her of being the one to make the false accusation.

Sheng Qian rolled her eyes and said in a tearful voice, "Village chief, please judge this for me! My uncle's family invited me over for dinner, but they actually wanted my house in town. When I refused, my grandfather beat someone up, and he hit my cousin. My uncle found me a family that was very generous and gave me huge benefits, but my uncle's family is not satisfied and they want to bleed me dry. Village chief, you must uphold justice for me!"

Sheng Ping's face darkened upon hearing this.

Sheng Qian is just so openly telling others that his family received benefits from the Long family. Isn't that misleading everyone?

Everyone knows that Shengping's family received a huge benefit. In the future, whenever something happens in the village, they will definitely go to their family.

Although the villagers are simple and honest, it doesn't mean they are all kind-hearted; they won't be jealous of your family's good life.

When Sheng Qian shouted it out, it was as if she was revealing the wealth of Sheng Ping's family.

Sheng Ping's previous amiable demeanor vanished instantly, replaced by a coldness in his gaze as he stared at Sheng Qian.

The village chief frowned at Sheng Ping: "Sheng Ping, everyone in the village knows about Qian Ya's matter. You did the work, so we won't say anything. But you're forcing Qian Ya to hand over her house in town. What kind of behavior is that? How can you act like this?"

“Village Chief, this is a misunderstanding,” Sheng Ping quickly explained with a smile. “I didn’t take any benefits from them. As their uncle, I’m just trying to help my niece find a good home. It’s Qian’er who misunderstood. Qian’er, your uncle didn’t explain clearly. We were just worried that you would be taken advantage of, so we wanted to make sure that the house had been transferred to your name.”

Sheng Qian said with a strange look, "Uncle, you were there at the time, and you handled all the arrangements. Even my dad doesn't know as much as you do. Besides taking care of that half-dead person, I really have nothing else to do. Look, I haven't even had a meal today."

The villagers' gazes toward Shengping immediately changed.

To accomplish such a significant task, and with that family being so generous, Sheng Ping must have pocketed a lot of benefits; perhaps he even has a considerable amount of money hidden away at home.

And since these words came from Sheng Qian's mouth, it must be true.

Sheng Ping's expression darkened further, though he still forced a smile and tried to explain something.

“Since this is a misunderstanding, why are you shouting for violence?” the village chief said sternly. “Shengping, Qian’er is a married woman. It’s one thing if she doesn’t have any money to spend, but why are you even being so stingy with her food?”

Sheng Ping heard the village chief's warning, gritted his teeth, and took out twenty yuan from his pocket. "Qian girl, it was my fault for not thinking things through. This money is what my family has saved up by scrimping and saving. Take it."

"Why should I give this wretched girl money?" Upon seeing this, Old Mrs. Sheng's headache and wailing stopped. She jumped up and tried to grab the twenty yuan from Sheng Ping's hand.

Sheng Ping reacted quickly and pulled back.

“Uncle, the Long family told me that they gave you a lot of extra benefits, so I’ll take this twenty yuan.” Sheng Qian said, quickly pulling out twenty yuan.

Sheng Ping's lips twitched.

The way people outside looked at Shengping's family changed again.

Judging from what Qianya said, that family must have given Shengping a lot of benefits.

"Let's sit down and talk things over," the village chief said, clearly aware of the family's capabilities and therefore somewhat wary.

Otherwise, the village chief wouldn't have stepped in so easily for something like this.

Sheng Hongyang gave Sheng Qian a cold, brooding look, then strode out.
