Arthur: "Carlos, you said this thing you recognize isn't poisonous, right? Have you ever eaten it? Is it tasty?"
Carlos: "I've never eaten it, but I know the fruit. It's called Green Melon. I've seen other orcs eat it and they were fine afterward. They said it was quite sweet. Some orcs brought it to me, but I don't usually like eating fruit, so I didn't accept it."
When Yichan was the wandering beast king, many orcs came to curry favor with Kalos, also in order to fight for their rights in the cave.
Carlos used to be a nobody, but he started to remember the faces of the orcs who came up to him. He would assign them important tasks and give them more rewards like red crystals.
Just like that wolf beast before, who thought it gained favor with Carlos through its own strength, but that wasn't the case. Rather, it was because it frequently hung around Carlos, harboring a desire to make its own way in the world.
Carlos naturally remembered him more, even though his own strength was actually quite weak.
"It's okay, let's cut it open and see. If you like it, then let Xiaoxiao eat it."
Mikson brought out a large bone knife and cut the watermelon in half, revealing a red slice with black seeds. Watermelons in the Beast World were different; they were redder than those in modern times, and the seeds were larger.
All of this made Guo Xiaoxiao smell the true fragrance of watermelon. She had never smelled such a strong watermelon aroma in modern times. She hadn't even had dinner yet, and she already wanted to eat watermelon.
Guo Xiaoxiao's mouth was practically watering; she knew it would taste incredibly sweet with just one bite, and her throat was churning uncontrollably.
Arthur saw that Guo Xiaoxiao was so hungry and thought it was cute. He touched her little face and then asked Mickson to cut it into small pieces so that Guo Xiaoxiao could eat it easily.
"I think we should find one to try. Just in case it's poisonous. I've never seen a big melon before. It's better to be cautious."
Cang Jue has become cautious. Ever since he was poisoned and had a period of trouble, he has maintained a certain level of vigilance towards unknown foods and plants.
"I told you it's not poisonous. I've often seen beastmen eat it, and they're fine. You're overthinking it. It's just a normal fruit."
Carlos repeated his statement that the watermelon was not poisonous. He disliked being distrusted, so why would he harm Guo Xiaoxiao? If it were truly poisonous, he would have run far away to return it to her.
Guo Xiaoxiao watched as Mickson divided the watermelon into small pieces, and she reminded him...
"You can't eat the watermelon rind; only the green part and the red part are edible."
With his skillful knife work, Mickelson cut it very evenly, giving Guo Xiaoxiao reminders as he cut.
"Be careful what you eat. You can't eat the black pits either. Don't swallow them or your stomach will hurt."
Miksen didn't actually know what it was, but when Carlos said it wasn't poisonous, he felt relieved. Anyone could harm Guo Xiaoxiao, but these males of theirs certainly wouldn't.
After cutting it up, Guo Xiaoxiao couldn't wait to pick up a piece and bite into it. It tasted just like that, a familiar feeling. Guo Xiaoxiao felt like she was flying to heaven.
He finished the whole piece in one go, then noticed that the others hadn't moved and were just staring at her.
"You guys should eat too, have a taste, it's really delicious, I won't lie to you, hurry up and take some to eat."
Cang Jue said, "It's alright, you eat first. We'll eat after you're done."
Guo Xiaoxiao refuses to share the good food with everyone; how can she enjoy it all by herself?
"Eat up, it's okay, there's plenty more. I'll be full after a few pieces, I still need to eat dinner. Just fill up for now, eat quickly, eat quickly."
The group couldn't resist Guo Xiaoxiao's urging.
Everyone was holding a slice of watermelon, hesitating whether or not to take a bite.
Carlos took a bite with a nonchalant air, and tasted it. Water droplets burst open, and a sweet liquid filled his mouth. It was so sweet, both sweet and cool, it was simply a summer-cooling wonder.
Carlos finished eating, swallowed his food, and nodded.
"They're so sweet! Where did you find them? I'll get you two more tomorrow."
Guo Xiaoxiao: "It was given to me by an orc."
The others also took a bite of watermelon. It was incredibly sweet, like honey, and so refreshingly cool. The heat instantly subsided, and a cool sensation spread from head to toe.
Which orc would bring him fruit? Was he trying to curry favor?
Randy took a bite of the watermelon, put it down, and started staring at her with a questioning look in his eyes, but he didn't ask her directly.
Guo Xiaoxiao blinked at Randy's big eyes, and Randy opened his mouth, but finally spoke.
Why would someone bring you fruit?
As soon as they got back, they couldn't wait to show them the watermelon. Before they could explain, Cang Jue had already moved the gifts in the house to the third-floor room, so they didn't see them.
"It's just that the orcs who weren't adults sent me a thank-you gift, saying they wanted to hold a ceremony. I appreciate their hard work."
Everyone suddenly realized that Cang Jue already knew, but he just hadn't had a chance to explain.
"Xiaoxiao, I can see you really value this ceremony. How can we help you out? Do you need us to set up a large bonfire for you?"
The word "fire" is unnecessary. If Guo Xiaoxiao hears "fire," then those sitting around her will not only be sweating and irritated, let alone offering blessings. That's not good for others either.
"No need, it's too hot. I just wanted to say a few words to them. Don't worry about it. They're making a big deal out of it. It's making me a little nervous now."
They've given all the gifts, so they need to bring out something real; they can't just say a few words at the ceremony and leave.
