It was all Arthur's wishful thinking; Fara simply wanted to lie down and do nothing.
"Carter, why don't you invite Shi Lin over for dinner tonight? He's sent so many things over; it's not good to keep letting him send them for free. What do you think?"
Irina asked, feigning modesty, "How could Carter disagree? Irina is the head of their family; whatever she says goes."
"I'll follow your instructions. If there's not enough game after today's distribution, I'll go back to the forest and hunt some more. I'll do my best."
Carter looked at Irina with gentle eyes. He would be content if she just wanted to say one word to him; he didn't ask for anything more.
If Shilin joins the family this winter, he might not be able to have a child this year, but he can wait until next year. Irina and he are both still young and have plenty of time.
Irina: "Then go and prepare. I want to be alone for a while."
Irina's decision to ask them to leave stemmed from her desire to avoid seeing them. Seeing them would remind her of her humiliating past. Even if it wasn't their fault, weakness was still a mistake, a lesson Irina had learned in her youth.
In the Zemin tribe, she had never suffered such humiliation. Now, she wasn't even allowed to learn medicine. Arthur and Mikeson would send orcs over every now and then to peek into her doorstep.
It must have been at Guo Xiaoxiao's behest. Do you know how much she hated him after all that she went through? It only took a few months for her to go from heaven to hell.
If given another chance, I would still poison their food, but I would do it even more perfectly, without letting anyone discover a single piece of evidence.
Katie nodded and disappeared from Irina's sight. Just then, Shi Lin came over and saw Irina leaning against the railing, looking sullen.
"Nana, aren't you going down to play? Is it too hot?"
Upon seeing Shi Lin, Irina's face blossomed into a beautiful smile that nearly blinded him. Shi Lin immediately moved closer.
"It's so hot, why didn't you go downstairs? Today is your coming-of-age ceremony."
Shi Lin: "I just came up from down here, so come over and say hello."
