Arthur was bewildered. The "thank you" seemed odd, something about it felt off. He was the one who felt embarrassed; why was a female in such a hurry? He tried to think of an excuse, then turned his face away and said...
"I didn't come here specifically to save you. You didn't give me the formula, and I was afraid you'd die and wouldn't get the Rejuvenating Water. Don't flatter yourself."
"Nine-Nine Resurrection Water~ Haha"
Guo Xiaoxiao burst out laughing. He remembered that name so clearly, even though it was just something he'd made up on the spot; it sounded hilarious coming from him.
Seeing Guo Xiaoxiao mocking him, Arthur's ears turned bright red, and he said with slight anger.
"why are you laughing!"
"I wasn't laughing at anything."
Guo Xiaoxiao covered her mouth; she really couldn't hold back.
"snort"
Arthur became arrogant and refused to talk to her. Guo Xiaoxiao was starving; she hadn't eaten dinner and hadn't eaten anything since, only a little this morning. She was so hungry that she asked...
"I'm hungry, is there anything to eat?"
Looking at the disheveled Guo Xiaoxiao, Arthur thought to himself, "I don't need to be nice to a female at all. I don't need to do these things for her. What does it matter to me if she's hungry? She's furious! She seduced him again! That arrogant female, thinking a male will obey her every word? Guo Xiaoxiao was confused. Had she done something wrong to anger him again? Was he planning to kill her in the deep mountains and forests and dispose of the body? This assassin orc wouldn't even blink an eye, killing her with a single blow. Just as Guo Xiaoxiao was desperately on guard against Arthur, he suddenly leaned in, his warm breath brushing against her face.
"cough…"
Guo Xiaoxiao hurriedly dodged, and the two stared at each other for a long time.
Arthur finally roared in great anger
"...Yes, wait."
"ah"
Guo Xiaoxiao was startled by his shout. She covered her ears and saw Arthur quickly turn around and jump into the nearby bushes. "So what if you're shouting? Why are you yelling like that? Who are you trying to scare?"
Arthur kept searching for food not far from Guo Xiaoxiao. Guo Xiaoxiao could hear Arthur's movements, and she felt safe and no longer afraid.
Soon Arthur came out carrying several large rabbits and some wild vegetables, and threw them in front of her. Guo Xiaoxiao stared at him in astonishment.
"So fast!"
Arthur quickly gathered some firewood and set it over a fire. He skinned and cleaned the rabbit, removed its internal organs, and roasted it over the fire. He stuffed wild vegetables into the rabbit's rear end to help it cook faster. He then skewered the rabbit and roasted it.
Without saying a word or paying attention to Guo Xiaoxiao, he focused entirely on roasting the rabbit. He was quite skilled at cooking and, relying on his experience, knew this rabbit would be fatter than the previous ones, so he would need to roast it for a while longer.
Guo Xiaoxiao squatted down next to Arthur, watching him busy. Although he was bloodthirsty, a ruthless killer, and had a bad temper, he was still good at this moment.
She hadn't known him for very long, and while she knew very little about Arthur, she also knew he was definitely not the type to take care of women. Seeing him proactively cook for her was quite a surprise.
Arthur finished baking, used a bone knife to cut off a piece of rabbit leg, and handed it to her.
Eat up.
"Okay, thank you."
Guo Xiaoxiao took the rabbit leg, blew on it, took a bite, and found it tender, delicious, and still a little hot—it was so good!
Arthur watched her eat quietly, then handed her another one.
"And there's plenty more."
Guo Xiaoxiao took it and started gnawing on the rabbit leg again, stuffing it into her mouth non-stop because she was starving.
"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you."
Arthur reminded him and started eating too. He had a big appetite; a few rabbits were just enough to fill him up, and he usually couldn't get full without two or three wild boars.
Guo Xiaoxiao ate two rabbit legs and some wild vegetables. Feeling full, she put down the bones she had finished gnawing on and felt really comfortable.
When Arthur saw that she had stopped eating, he looked up and glanced at her.
I'm full.
"Mmm, I'm full."
Guo Xiaoxiao licked her lips, nodded in agreement, and said she didn't want to eat anymore; she was content with just being full. Arthur finished the rest of his meal, straightened the animal skin covering Guo Xiaoxiao's face, and carried her back to the tribe. He remained silent the entire way. He didn't press her to ask why she had run away. He knew that Guo Xiaoxiao had heard the messenger male say that Miken and Cangjue had arrived, and that's why she had run away to find them. But he didn't want to hear that answer from Guo Xiaoxiao, so he turned a blind eye and pretended not to know.
Upon arriving at the tribe, on the way back to the stone house, the male tribesmen he encountered all expressed envy upon seeing the female he was carrying in his arms.
Arthur remained indifferent, his gaze fixed straight ahead. Guo Xiaoxiao nestled in his arms, watching him intently. She then realized that Arthur wasn't entirely heartless. Pulling herself back to reality, she knew that just because he had nearly killed Mickson and Cang Jue, she couldn't harbor any good intentions towards him. She needed to find a way to escape. She wondered what had become of Mickson and Cang Jue. Should she ask him? Would he tell her…? So sleepy…
