Finally, as night deepened, they managed to coax Guo Xiaoxiao to sleep with their combined efforts. However, the grudge between them could never be erased, and neither was willing to give in to the other.
He still pretended to be indifferent in front of Guo Xiaoxiao, who was really at a loss as to how to mediate their relationship and was extremely anxious.
When I tried to mediate, they acted like brothers, saying it was okay, we made up, but when they turned their backs on me, they acted completely different.
The third day was the time limit set by the Beast King; it was the last day, and we could leave Beast City tomorrow. They still hadn't sent anyone over.
"Everyone else has already received their share, but we haven't heard anything yet."
As Miksen spoke, wondering if it was because of the merger of the two tribes, Cang Jue said...
"Today is the last day. They won't forget. Just wait and see."
Randy next door, like them, also failed to receive the messengers sent by the Beast King.
The orcs who received their allotted quotas were already complaining bitterly, saying that although it was supposed to be one-third, the actual amount given was more than half or even more than half for many tribes.
It's like they're deliberately making life unbearable for everyone, especially those tribes that were severely damaged by Arthur. They haven't even recovered yet, and the next year will be incredibly difficult for them to survive.
They were also required to provide a large number of shells and food.
It was getting increasingly chaotic. Inside the stone house, Guo Xiaoxiao and her two companions heard continuous sounds of smashing, fighting, and various commotions coming from outside.
"Won't something bad happen?"
Guo Xiaoxiao looked towards the door with concern.
"Don't worry, nothing will happen."
Miksen reassured him, while Cang Jue remained on guard at the entrance, forbidden from transforming into an eagle beast and flying into the sky, otherwise the eagle beasts in the beast city would attack the tower.
A wise man doesn't fight a losing battle, so Cang Jue didn't argue with them too much. It wasn't the final moment yet, and he couldn't rush things and reveal his strength. If danger arose, he could take Guo Xiaoxiao and escape from the trouble.
Randy came out and stood at the door, waiting just like Mickson and the others.
Mikson and Cangjue had no members of their kind in Beast City, but Randy and his group did. A portion of the wolf beasts lived in Beast City and occupied a significant portion of it, making it easier for them to exchange information.
The only drawback is that, as time went by, the relationships among the tribes became superficial, lacking the unity of the past. For example, during Arthur's attack on the wolf beasts in the tribe's beast city, they didn't help but stand by and watch.
Randy was already resentful, but he had to put on a brave face to maintain the relationship which was on the verge of collapse. He was very distressed.
Around noon, the people sent by Beast City finally arrived.
The person who arrived was the handsome guy who spoke first on the platform last time. Because there was a female inside the stone house, Miken and Cang Jue wouldn't allow him to enter. Miken went out to negotiate, while Cang Jue stayed in the stone house with Guo Xiaoxiao.
"Xiaoxiao, don't be afraid, I'm here."
Cang Jue hugged Guo Xiaoxiao and gently patted her back.
Guo Xiaoxiao wasn't that fragile; he was probably just worried that Miken and that guy would fight.
"Cang Jue, why don't you go out and keep an eye on things? If they make things difficult for Mikeson, you can hold them off for a while."
"Don't worry, Miken can handle it by himself. He's a five-star ring orc; they won't be stupid enough to fight him."
Guo Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes at him
"Don't you just like fighting with him?"
Cang Jue paused and said
"When did I fight with him? I just wanted to punch him."
Guo Xiaoxiao didn't believe it at all; the two of them always fought like madmen, showing no sign of joking.
Mickelson and the handsome man talked for a long time before returning to the stone house.
The figure he brought back was a generation higher than he had anticipated, and the other party left without caring whether Mickelson agreed to leave a share or not, giving him a few instructions before departing.
To make a comparison, Migson went outside to discuss with the other orcs who had received their shares, and found that, unsurprisingly, he had the highest share, even Randy had less.
The main reason is that they already knew that the Yushan tribe and the Sishui tribe had merged.
"That's outrageous! There are still females from the last Blackrock tribe merger who need to be fed. Where are we going to find so many stone houses to give to the Beast City?"
Cang Jue complained with dissatisfaction.
Guo Xiaoxiao frowned as well. These people were incredibly greedy. Although she didn't know much about the tribe, she was unsure exactly how much food they could stockpile each month.
However, one can also deduce from Migsen and Cangjue's expressions that they definitely need a lot.
"The biggest problem right now is that there are too many people in Beast City, and they want to start a war to resist, but we don't have enough manpower."
Mickelson was telling the truth; now, unless he could unite everyone to fight together, they had no hope of winning.
But that's too risky. Each tribe has its own agenda, so it won't be that easy.
"We can't just let them plunder. They'll either starve or die in battle; there's no other choice but death. Beast City is doing this on purpose; they want to suppress powerful tribes and strengthen themselves."
Cang Jue spoke, making it an obvious truth that everyone understood. Even if they knew he was only trying to suppress them, there was nothing they could do about it.
Mickelson said, "I'll go call Randy over to discuss this together; their share isn't small either."
Invited by Mickson, Randy entered Guo Xiaoxiao's warm stone house. A strange look flashed across the boy's face, which he quickly concealed.
The smell in the room was very strong; even though a long time had passed, you could still smell that fresh, raw scent.
There were four people sitting around the stone table. Guo Xiaoxiao found their arrangement strange; Miksen and Cangjue looked like two adults with a child, discussing the survival of their nation—it was somewhat comical.
Randy maintained the same expression; his youthful face didn't match his demeanor, making him appear quite out of place next to Miksen.
Guo Xiaoxiao even felt that Mickson should have consulted with Abil instead of Randy; although Randy was the clan leader, he was too young.
The boy hasn't fully grown up yet.
"Randy, what do you think of your share? Are you going to give it to them?"
Mickelson went straight to the point, asking first: if Randy was interested, the Wolf Clan was a good option to recruit.
Randy remained silent for a long time before looking up at them.
Whether or not we give it to them is not important right now.
"Any other ideas?" Mickelson raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue. Randy's expression suddenly turned serious.
"Let's find a way to save our lives."
Everyone was startled. Randy was just babbling incoherently, unable to finish his sentence. Mickelson asked...
"What do you mean?"
Randy, expressionless, said again...
"The chieftains of other tribes were all at the three-star, four-star, and five-star level, but they were all killed by the tiger beasts of that time."
"So what?"
Cang Jue stared at Randy and asked, knowing that there were wolf clans in Beast City; his information network was more extensive.
"The Beast King won't let us go. He doesn't want the powerful orcs to be the Horde's support. He's already planning this. He sent us here for two reasons: first, to announce that the Horde must hand over food every few months; and second, to lure us all here and kill us."
