The wound that looked so terrible before, could it really heal on its own? Or was I just seeing things? Monet didn't dwell on it too much and, together with Mikel, mashed up the fruit and fed it to Sam.
Mikel noticed that Sam's injuries had improved slightly, but didn't investigate further. It was good that he was alive; even for the sake of the fruit, such severe injuries might not have been healed. Now, at least his life was no longer in danger.
After feeding him the fruit, the two kept a close eye on Sam's condition.
As time passed, Sam's complexion gradually regained its color, and the pain in his body lessened, though he still seemed uncomfortable as his body involuntarily twitched.
Finally, he lay peacefully in bed, his breathing becoming long and steady, indicating that he had passed the critical period.
"It's alright now."
Mikel wiped the sweat from his brow, breathed a sigh of relief, and sat down to wait.
Seeing that Mossam's condition had improved, the old Monet, exhausted, sat down on the ground to rest.
Sam regained consciousness after a while. He slowly opened his eyes, and everything was initially dark. By the faint moonlight, he finally saw clearly what was in front of him. This wasn't his cave. He remembered being badly injured and being taken here by Miken and Guo Xiaoxiao to treat his wounds. This place was filled with strangely shaped things; it must be Monet's room from the clan leader.
He could faintly hear voices, and he tried hard to hear them, but he could only hear their voices and not see the people.
Sam frowned, feeling a dryness in his throat, as if it were on fire.
"woke up!"
Upon hearing the familiar yet unfamiliar voice, Sam instinctively tried to struggle to his feet—a conscious reaction befitting an orc.
However, my hands and feet were sore and weak, and I couldn't muster any strength. I couldn't even turn over.
"Don't strain yourself. You're weak and need to rest for a couple more days."
Mikkerson tore off a piece of animal hide from Monet's room and tied it around his waist. Noticing Sam was awake, he approached Sam's bedside.
Sam breathed a sigh of relief when he saw it was Mickelson; they had indeed saved him. But then he felt incredibly humiliated to be so easily defeated by a female. This incident would forever haunt him if he ever wanted to pursue Guo Xiaoxiao again.
Sam tried to raise his hand to touch his chest. In his daze, he felt something throbbing in his chest. It felt very comfortable, and even his breathing became easier. But now it hurt when he touched it. Was it just his imagination?
Mikkelsen, having ensured Sam's safety, said to Monet, who was sitting on the ground...
"Monet, I carried Sam back to his cave; he won't die."
Monet nodded
"Luckily, he was lucky. We found kiwifruit in no time after we went into the forest, otherwise he would be dead here today."
Actually, Sam's injuries were horribly severe at first; he was spitting blood and his internal organs were ruptured. Kiwifruit couldn't heal him, so they could only try using other fruits. However, when they returned, Sam's injuries had healed considerably, which is how he survived.
For phenomena they couldn't explain, they would only offer the explanation of the Beast God's blessing or that the Beast God didn't want to take his life.
"Yes, he's lucky. Monet, you rest, I'll take him back."
"Go ahead, come find me if you have any problems."
"Um"
Mickelson carried the limp Sam out of the cave and out of the cave.
The waiting group quickly surrounded her, naturally following Guo Xiaoxiao. Guo Xiaoxiao anxiously asked...
"Are you alright? Is he dead?"
Sam looked exhausted, and even maintaining a smile and saying hello was difficult for him, so he could only let Rickson carry him on his shoulders.
"Eating kiwifruit won't kill you. Xiaoxiao, we should go back now. Let's take Sam back to his cave while we're at it."
"That's good. This child isn't even grown up yet. If she were to die, it would be a terrible sin for her." Guo Xiaoxiao calmed herself down.
"Okay, then."
Sam slept soundly, and Mickson carried him back to his cave. Along the way, several young males approached to help, but seeing the horrific injuries on Sam's body, they retreated, mainly fearing they would only make things worse.
The males of the Yushan tribe are very united; they help each other most of the time, unless it's for the females.
"I'll do it."
Mikel took over from Rickson and carried Sam on his back.
"You and the female go back; I'll take care of Sam."
Mickel patted Mikel on the shoulder, saying he was a true brother, then turned to Guo Xiaoxiao, who was standing nearby looking slightly worried, and said...
"He'll be fine once he wakes up; let him rest for the night."
Monet watched Mikkelsen and Sam disappear before returning to the cave. He carefully checked everything inside, making sure nothing was missing, before stopping his work. Damn paranoia!
Monet leaned against the wall, looked at the moon outside the window, and sighed softly.
"How could this be? His near-death condition has improved? Unbelievable!"
Monet had mixed feelings. Although Sam's injury was healing relatively quickly, he always felt that Sam's injury was not healing on its own, but rather for some other reason.
…
Mikson and Guo Xiaoxiao returned to the cave, which was filled with the scent of another male that disgusted him and made him want to vomit. He began to blame himself for being gone for so long and for putting Guo Xiaoxiao in danger.
But all his worries and regrets turned into anger. Mickson had a strong possessive desire; he believed that Guo Xiaoxiao belonged to him for life and could not be coveted by anyone else.
Mickelson's gaze became uneasy. He looked at Guo Xiaoxiao from head to toe, searching for any signs of other males on her body.
The clothes were intact, though there were signs of tearing, but the body odor was clearly mixed with the scent of another male; it wasn't Sam's, but rather that of another male.
Guo Xiaoxiao didn't notice Mickson's actions and lay down on the leather mat to go to sleep.
