Chapter 11 Cornfield Accident

Su Daqiang was covered in injuries and lay in bed unable to move, but his eyes lit up when he saw Ma Qiumei enter the room.

"My darling, you've finally arrived! I've been waiting for you for so long... Your man isn't coming home tonight, is he?"

Zhu Erqiang works in town year-round and only comes back once every ten days or half a month, which is why Ma Qiumei dares to be so brazen in her extramarital affair!

"That damned guy won't be back until tomorrow morning. Did your wife get so angry that she went back to her parents' house again?" Ma Qiumei said sourly.

"Don't even mention that shrew, she's nowhere near as good as you..."

As Su Daqiang spoke, despite his disability, he pulled Ma Qiumei's hand and guided it towards an indescribable area, releasing all the pent-up anger he had been holding back the night before...

Soon after, sounds that made one blush and their heart race could be heard coming from inside the room.

Half an hour later, Ma Qiumei sat on the edge of the bed, tidying her clothes, her face full of worry. "Did you see clearly last night? Was it really that bitch who did it?"

"It's hard to say..." Su Daqiang's eyes were confused, then he suddenly said, "Do you think it's possible that Liu is hiding a man in the house?"

It was that wild man who hit him; otherwise, where would Liu Yingying, a mere woman, get such strength?

For a moment, the two of them couldn't come up with a solution.

But at least one consensus was reached: Liu Yingying is not someone to be trifled with now.

If we want to get revenge, we'll probably have to wait for the right opportunity...

The persistent high temperatures made it unbearably hot even in the middle of the night, and Liu Yingying tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep.

Life without air conditioning is unbearable!

Just then, the sound of a child crying came from outside.

"Waaah... Aunt Liu, Sister Zhaodi, are you asleep?"

It's Bao'er's voice!

Liu Ying jumped up, pushed open the door, and sure enough, saw a small, thin figure standing barefoot in the yard.

A four- or five-year-old child should be the apple of his family's eye, but he lost both his parents and is barely surviving with his elderly and blind grandmother.

In such times, it is extremely difficult for a child like Abao to grow up safely.

Liu Yingying felt a pang of heartache and quickly went forward to pick up Bao'er.

"Tell Auntie, what happened?"

As they were talking, Zhao Di and her brother came out and went up to ask them questions.

"Grandma's body is burning hot, and she won't respond no matter how I call her!"

Upon hearing this, Liu Yingying immediately thought of something and handed Bao'er to Zhao Di, saying, "Bao'er will sleep with you tonight. I'm going to check on Grandma Zhang!"

Liu Yingying carried a kerosene lamp into Grandma Zhang's house and heard the old woman starting to talk nonsense.

"Baby...Baby, where are you?"

"Ah Niu, have you and your father come to pick me up?"

As Grandma Zhang spoke, she suddenly sat up straight, staring blankly at the door with her long-blind eyes. After a long while, she suddenly collapsed again, continuing to ramble on.

If someone with average mental fortitude were to be scared away by her by now, they would probably be terrified.

Fortunately, Liu Yingying is someone who has lived a second life, and her mental fortitude has always been extremely strong.

She placed the kerosene lamp on the bedside table, then went over and touched Grandma Zhang's forehead.

"It's so hot!"

"Grandma Zhang? Can you hear me?" Liu Yingying's voice was neither too loud nor too soft.

But Grandma Zhang on the bed seemed unable to hear her voice at all, continuing to call out the names of her deceased husband and son...

Liu Yingying sighed, lifted the quilt, and her gaze fell from the blood-stained quilt to Grandma Zhang's left thigh.

That leg was noticeably swollen, and blood was slowly seeping out.

After some investigation, Liu Yingying finally confirmed her suspicions from earlier that day.

In this year of great famine, even normal families have no food to eat, but Bao'er said that his grandmother gave him meat to eat a couple of days ago.

Where does the meat come from?

It was Grandma Zhang who, fearing her grandson would starve to death, cut it off from her own thigh.

In ancient times, there were no antibiotics, and the weather was so hot that Grandma Zhang's wound became inflamed and infected.

But this was enough to take the life of this frail and pitiful old man!

Liu Yingying didn't dare to delay and quickly took out the medicine left over from saving Shen Shangxu that day and gave it to Grandma Zhang, and also fed her half a bottle of glucose.

At this point, she was completely at her wit's end!

Fortunately, Grandma Zhang's fever finally subsided by daybreak. When she woke up and found out that Liu Yingying had saved her, the old lady was about to get up and kneel down to her.

"Grandma Zhang, you can't do that! Lie down quickly!" Liu Yingying pressed her down. "Last night I had Zhaodi take Bao'er to sleep, so don't worry. I just boiled two eggs, have a bite first."

She only discovered this morning that most of the eggs and chicken delivered yesterday were still left.

It seems that only Bao'er ate, while the old man himself remained hungry.

"I'm not hungry... Yingying, thank you, I'm sorry to have troubled you..."

"Don't mention thank you. We're neighbors, and it's only right that we help each other out during these famine years!"

Liu Yingying's words warmed Grandma Zhang's heart. In this day and age, even brothers can turn against each other over a stutter, but Liu Yingying, who was not related to her, helped them, grandmother and granddaughter, time and time again.

Grandma Zhang knew she was powerless to repay her, so she could only silently pray that good people would be rewarded in the future!

After returning home, Liu Yingying let Bao'er stay at her house first and instructed Jiawang and Jiafu not to bully the little brother.

Considering that Grandma Zhang had difficulty seeing and walking, Zhao Di was asked to go and take care of her first.

As for herself, she is now out of ammunition and supplies, and has two choices in front of her.

First: Find ways to earn points.

Second: Find food or water on your own!

After thinking it over, Liu Yingying felt that the first option was relatively easier.
