Chapter 115 The Smartest Person in the Wang Family

Wang Dabing truly lives up to his reputation as the smartest person in the Wang family.

Liu Yingying was very satisfied with this.

After all, she does need someone to help her right now, but whether she should really entrust Wang Dabing with important responsibilities in the future remains to be seen.

"Then it's settled. You can all go back now!" Liu Yingying pinched her brow and dismissed the three of them.

After everyone left, she immediately went back inside and started doing all sorts of calculations…

"No, the mere three thousand taels of silver I have is simply not enough!"

She needs to think of a few more ways to make money...

Along the country path, with a gentle evening breeze, Liu Yingying was preoccupied with how to make a quick fortune when she saw Xue Ye carrying a bundle of bamboo walking towards her from afar.

Under the golden sunset, the young man, though dressed in coarse linen, could not conceal his breathtaking beauty!

He was the kind of wild and untamed boy.

However, that wildness was not the wildness of a brute.

Instead, it gives people a visual impact that combines divinity and wildness...

Liu Yingying couldn't help but sigh inwardly; this person is really good-looking, if he were in modern times he could easily be a top star...

Just as she was lost in thought, Xue Ye had already arrived in front of her. Seeing her like this, he couldn't help but frown and ask.

What are you looking at?

"Ah!" Liu Yingying was startled by the suddenness of the action, but quickly regained her composure. "It's nothing, I just remembered something... By the way, how's the two-meter-wide bed I ordered coming along?"

Xue Ye was speechless. He nudged the bamboo with his shoulder and said, "These bamboos are for making beds, but if you need five large beds, it will take some time, since I still need to go hunting in the mountains."

"Oh, then take your time. I wasn't rushing you, I was just asking casually..."

"Okay!" Xue Ye indicated that he understood, then quickly left with the bamboo on his back.

Liu Yingying continued to ponder her ways to make money.

When I returned to the village, I saw several hens at the village entrance, which struck me as odd.

After months of famine, even the wild grass in the surrounding villages had been dug up. Where did this big hen come from?

Just as I was thinking about this, I saw Shi Sanmei chasing after the hens with a bamboo pole in her hand.

"Chirp chirp...chirp chirp...go back quickly...what are you running around for? You won't even know if someone stews you!"

Liu Yingying smiled; "Sister Shi, are these your chickens?"

"Yes, I bought it a couple of days ago..." Shi Sanmei said, giving Liu Yingying a grateful look.

"Isn't this all thanks to you, sister? It allowed my family to have food to eat and earn money during these famine years. Otherwise, where would I have gotten the money to buy a big hen?"

Liu Yingying asked curiously, "Why don't you buy chicks? Aren't they cheaper?"

Shi Sanmei: "Little sister, don't you know you go to the city so often?"

“Eggs are expensive in the city now, so if I buy these hens and raise them for a while, they will start laying eggs.”

"Oh, I see!"

After chatting with Shi Sanmei for a few minutes, Liu Yingying prepared to leave, but then suddenly asked, "How much did you pay for these chickens?"

"Twenty coins a pound!" Shi Sanmei replied.

A thought struck Liu Yingying, and she suddenly asked, "Could you sell me one?"

"What, you want to buy it?" Shi Sanmei glanced at her, but then thought that this was nothing unusual, so she pointed to the speckled chicken and said.

"I weighed this one this morning, it's exactly one and a half pounds. If you want it, just give me thirty coins."

Thirty coins was just for the purchase of one chicken, not including the food we've been eating at home these past few days.

Although Shi Sanmei felt a little sorry for her, she thought that her family had only been able to live a good life because of Liu Yingying, so she felt that it was nothing.

"Here's thirty coins, keep it!" Liu Yingying didn't like taking advantage of others.

When Xianglian saw Liu Yingying carrying a speckled chicken back, she assumed she was preparing an extra meal for her family.

"Sister Liu, we still have a big bowl of pork tenderloin at home, why did you buy chicken again?"

Liu Yingying gave her a mysterious smile; "This chicken is my secret to making money!"

"Huh?" Xianglian tilted her head, not quite understanding her intention.

Liu Yingying didn't explain in detail, and grabbed the hen and went into the kitchen.

She worked quickly and efficiently, cleaning and bleeding the chicken, plucking its feathers, and then cutting it into very small, even cubes.

Then I took out a large bag of dried chilies that I had bought from the city last time from the cupboard, soaked them in water for ten minutes, and then steamed them.

This process takes a full hour.

Xianglian, curious, wanted to come in and help, but Liu Yingying refused.

"I don't need you here, but I do have something I need you to do for me."

Liu Yingying went into her room and quickly came out with a completed drawing.

"Give this to Xue Ye and have him make ten of these bamboo tubes by today. I need them when I go into town tomorrow morning."

Then he took out ten coins and asked Xianglian to give them to Xue Ye as a service fee.

She never lets anyone help her for nothing.

"Okay! I'll go right away!" Xianglian smiled, took the money and drawing paper, and left.

She was still worried about not finding a reason to go to Xue Ye's house.

After all, she was a young woman visiting from out of town, and her frequent visits to the orphanage and widow's home were bound to attract gossip from the villagers...

Upon arriving at the Xue family's thatched hut, Xianglian saw Xue Ye arranging a pile of bamboo in the yard, seemingly for some unknown purpose...

"Brother Xue Ye, are you busy?"

Xianglian tried her best to show a perfect smile, looking at him with eyes as clear as spring water.

Upon hearing this, Xue Ye stopped what he was doing, turned around to look at her, and asked expressionlessly, "Is there something you need?"

Xianglian didn't think his reaction was because he didn't welcome her; she believed that Xue Ye's coldness was simply his nature.

So he smiled and walked into the courtyard. "Sister Liu asked me to come find you. She wants you to make something for her!"

He then handed the drawings Liu Yingying had completed and the ten coins to Xue Ye.

Xue Ye took the blueprints, glanced at them, nodded, and said in his usual indifferent tone, "Alright, I'll finish it and send it over before dark!"

Then he continued fiddling with the pile of bamboo...

Xianglian remained standing there, gazing at the young man's handsome profile, her eyes sparkling with pink stars...

Seeing that she hadn't left, Xue Ye frowned slightly; "Is there anything else?"

"No...no..."

“Then you should go back. I’ll send the bamboo jar over once it’s finished!” he emphasized again.

"Oh... alright then!" Xianglian reluctantly went back.

In the kitchen, Liu Yingying had already mashed the steamed chili peppers, ginger, and garlic into a paste and started stir-frying diced chicken with rapeseed oil.

The whole yard smelled of chicken...

Once the chicken has been stir-fried until the skin turns white, add the mashed chili paste, and then pour another layer of oil into the pan, enough to cover the chicken.

Making this spicy chicken dish really uses a lot of oil!

Luckily, she redeemed it from the mall; otherwise, the cost price would have been even higher if she had bought it in the city!
