People are naturally inclined to take advantage of small gains; once they hear about free samples, they don't care what they're actually eating.
Everyone lined up at the door.
When Wan Niangzi, who had come to help Zhang Hui, saw so many people, she couldn't help but look worried and said, "Oh! So many people, how many snacks will we have to give out?" As she spoke, she glanced at Liu Yingying.
Liu Yingying knew what she was worried about, and said with a smile, "Don't worry, Madam Wan. We prepared so much goods yesterday, but it didn't actually cost much. They won't eat me out of house and home."
The group thought about it and agreed.
That bamboo skewer, with a whole cabbage leaf on it, had to be divided into three parts to skewer it. Although it looked like a lot, there wasn't actually much food in it.
The skewers are all cooked before dawn and are ready now.
They were placed in several large basins, and then carried to the door by the helpers, giving three skewers to each person in line.
One string of meat and two strings of vegetables.
"Thanks!"
"Mmm, delicious! So delicious!"
"Your boss is a genius, to think of such a way of eating!" a chubby man couldn't help but say.
Xiaoxue smiled and said, "Really? Then you must come and support us when the shop officially opens tomorrow!"
"Definitely, definitely!"
Many people nodded, just like the man.
People who can settle in the capital are not necessarily poor, and although the people in the northern part of the city have low social status, most of them are peddlers and merchants.
People like this have one thing in common: they like to eat and they don't lack money.
Therefore, when Liu Yingying chose this shop, she did a lot of work in market research.
Once I finished my work, the morning was over just like that.
The crowd gathered at the entrance dispersed, and Liu Yingying and the others collapsed in the shop, rubbing their backs and legs in exhaustion…
Xue Ye, like them, was busy all morning.
However, the guy didn't show any signs of fatigue on his face and went to stand alone in the backyard.
Liu Yingying ignored him and took out a bag of silver coins, pouring it onto the table.
"Everyone has worked hard today. Let's all come over and each take ten coins to go out and have a bowl of noodles for lunch!"
Zhang Hui stepped in front of everyone and said, "You think you're so rich? You can't just spend money like that!"
"This restaurant has all kinds of pots and pans, why bother eating out?"
Liu Yingying pouted; "But everyone is already so tired, they really don't have the energy to cook anymore..."
"What do you mean, 'no'? Don't forget what I used to do with my man!"
"Wait here, I'll go in and cook noodles for you!"
As she spoke, Zhang Hui pushed the bag of money back into Liu Yingying's arms and turned to go into the kitchen.
Wan Niangzi and Xiaoxue: "Let's go in and help Hui Niangzi!"
Liu Yingying chuckled and shook her head, letting them go...
She was really tired, not only physically but also mentally.
Since the day she left Furong County, she hasn't had a single night of restful sleep.
At that moment, no one noticed that a horse-drawn carriage was parked across the bustling street.
Zhu Qing whispered outside, "Sixth Miss, they've sold out of everything in their shop, and people have already dispersed. If we don't leave, people will notice."
After speaking, she stood to one side with her hands hanging down, somewhat apprehensive.
Inside the carriage, Pei Lanyi, dressed in a pale yellow silk dress, nearly tore the handkerchief in her hand to shreds.
"She's just a lowly country bumpkin after all!"
Doing this kind of business with the lower classes is really something!
“Sixth Miss is right!” Zhu Qing quickly agreed.
But how could Pei Lanyi possibly stand by and watch Liu Yingying build up her business right under her nose?
She ordered, "Send a few people here to keep an eye on things. Let her have her fun for a while. I'm going to let her taste what it's like to fall from heaven to hell!"
Then the carriage slowly left the long street.
Zhang Hui had already cooked a bowl of noodles for everyone and brought it over.
But only Liu Yingying, Xue Ye, and Xiao Xue each had a poached egg in their bowls.
Upon seeing this, Liu Yingying frowned and asked, "Why don't you have any eggs?"
Just as Madam Wan was about to speak, Zhang Hui nudged her lightly with her elbow.
Zhang Hui said, "Yingying, you don't need to worry about us. This shop is entirely funded by your money, so every little bit saved counts!"
"When did I ever use you to save money?" Liu Yingying was almost laughing out of anger.
She discovered that ever since they arrived in the capital, Zhang Hui had acted like an old woman who had to stretch every penny.
But you can't really blame her for that.
"We're eating at the same table, how can I eat like this?" she said, using her chopsticks to peel off half an egg and put it into Zhang Hui's bowl.
Xiaoxue followed suit and gave half of the eggs to Wan Niangzi.
"Stop talking nonsense and eat!"
After finishing their meal and cleaning the shop, Liu Yingying sent Xue Ye and Xiao Xue home first.
Madam Wan had taken on the laundry job, and it was time for her to leave.
For a moment, only Liu Yingying and Zhang Hui remained in the shop, waiting for her sworn brother to arrive.
As dusk approached, the two heard the sound of horses' hooves outside the door.
The sound stopped outside the door, and then a man's rough voice rang out.
"Huiniang, are you inside?"
Upon hearing this voice, Zhang Hui's face lit up with joy, and she immediately stood up.
"It's my sworn brother!"
She went to open the door and welcomed the man inside.
Zhang Hui introduced the two women, "Yingying, this is my sworn brother, Zhang Xiaohu."
“Brother, this is my elder sister, Liu Yingying, whom I met back in my hometown.”
