Chapter 213 The Disappointed Wu Gousheng

Wu Dagang chased Wu Gousheng all over the yard with a fire poker.

Wu Gousheng was young and had good stamina, and after running several laps, he still couldn't catch up, and instead, he was panting heavily.

"You little brat, you dare to run away? I'll catch you and give you a good beating!"

Wu Gousheng had just breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the man chasing after him again. He turned and ran, shouting, "Dad, I didn't do anything wrong. I just went for a walk. Why are you hitting me?"

"How dare you say that!" Wu Dagang stopped to catch his breath and then chased after him. "I promised to lend the mule cart to someone, and I even paid the money. But you just drove off without a word and didn't come home for days. And you still dare to say you didn't do anything wrong!"

When Wu Gousheng saw Aunt Wu come out, he immediately hid behind her and poked his head out, saying, "I had important business to attend to. Besides, didn't my sister give me the money?"

"Good heavens, you've got an extra sister now!" Wu Dagang didn't care about anything else and picked up a stick to smash her.

Wu Gousheng was very clever; he snatched the stick away in an instant and smashed it on Aunt Wu.

"Ouch, my back!" Aunt Wu cried out, sitting down on the ground and waving at the two men. "Alright, stop hitting him. He's still your son!"

Wu Gousheng nodded hurriedly, agreeing with what Aunt Wu said.

Wu Dagang was also tired from chasing, so he threw the stick aside and bent down to help Aunt Wu up.

Aunt Wu heard it all clearly. Her son called Wan Qiqi "sister" and followed her through thick and thin. This affection could not be explained in just a few words.

She waved to Wu Gousheng and said with a smile, "Gousheng, are you really that close to the eldest daughter-in-law of the Chen family?"

Wu Gousheng, unaware of his mother's ulterior motives, proudly declared, "Of course! I stayed with her in a bandit's den, and I even saved her life!" He got carried away, excitedly adding, "Mother, do you know, I've killed bandits..."

"Stop!" Aunt Wu interrupted him, "Since you saved her life, tell her to go to Hefeng Academy and ask your younger brother to study there after the New Year!"

Wu Gousheng's smile froze on the spot; he no longer felt like sharing, only endless disappointment remained.

It turns out that no matter what she was like, her mother only had eyes for her younger brother.
