Now, the three-day deadline has passed, and there is still no news.
"Sister Qiqi, come down for lunch." Fang Luxue stood under Wan Qiqi's window, waving incessantly.
Wan Qiqi had no appetite whatsoever; her mind was filled with worry.
She knew that Chen Yongnian was different from before; he was more thoughtful and more composed.
But he was new to the government and didn't understand many laws, so how could he possibly investigate a case clearly?
Even Magistrate Fang couldn't figure out the collusion with the bandits, so how could a mere clerk like him be more capable than Magistrate Fang?
"Sister Qiqi, if you starve to death, who will help that idiot?"
Fang Luxue's voice reached Wan Qiqi's ears, causing her to roll her eyes.
How can you starve to death if you skip a meal?
This girl is purely using Chen Yongnian to provoke herself!
For some reason, Wan Qiqi found that this kind of stimulation was effective for her.
After hesitating for a moment, she went downstairs anyway.
They were originally supposed to stay at an inn, but were later invited by Madam Fang to live in the Fang residence.
Wan Qiqi was worried about Fang Luxue's safety, so she did not refuse.

Madam Fang, without any airs of an official's wife, got up to serve Wan Qiqi porridge.
Wan Qiqi stared at Madam Fang, a hint of doubt in her eyes.
Her son was about to set off to guard the border, and her husband was imprisoned in the county government office with his situation unknown. Yet, Madam Fang always wore a faint smile and acted with unhurried composure.
She couldn't help but ask, "Mrs. Fang, aren't you worried?"
"I'm worried, but what can I do?" Madam Fang sat down, a hint of worry finally showing on her face. "Even if the outside world descends into chaos, what can a woman do? She can only wait at home for her husband to return!"
Madam Fang's tone held a hint of self-mockery, "If we can't even do this well, what's the point of existing in this world?"
Wan Qiqi nodded slowly.
She didn't agree with Mrs. Fang's statement that women couldn't do anything, but she appreciated that Mrs. Fang was finding her own direction instead of wallowing in self-pity.
