Chapter 477 The Affairs of Hefeng Academy

Chapter 477 The Affairs of Hefeng Academy

Just as dawn broke, the sun quietly climbed over the hillside.

Wan Qiqi got up early, tidied up her three little ones, and led them out of the yard.

Wu Choudan asked curiously, "Sister Qi, why are you free to see us off today?"

"Since I got up early today, I'm taking you to the academy." Wan Qiqi grinned, then yawned.

A few dewdrops immediately clung to her eyelashes, looking like they were about to fall off.

I've only been up for ten or twenty minutes, but I'm already incredibly sleepy.

Wan Qiqi felt that the road in front of her was somewhat hazy, as if it were shrouded in a layer of mist.

After walking around in a daze for more than ten minutes, I finally arrived at the entrance of the academy.

Two majestic stone lions stand guard at the entrance of the academy, while the trees on either side rustle in the wind.

Sunlight shone on the glistening dewdrops, making them sparkle.

Wan Qiqi saw Pingping and Wu Choudan off at the door and led An'an to the backyard.

An'an is a girl, so it's not appropriate for her to enter the academy through the main gate; otherwise, others might have objections.

As they walked to the back gate of the academy, they happened to run into Tao Ran and Tao Jing talking.

Tao Jing's expression was not good; in fact, it carried a hint of anger.

Even after seeing Wan Qiqi, her expression didn't improve much.

Tao Ran seemed to notice and turned around as well.

He was still wearing his old blue robe and had his hair tied up with a jade crown, but there was a bruise on his forehead, and you could see the broken skin if you looked closely.

His expression was very serious, and his brows were furrowed, as if he had encountered some difficult problem.

An'an ran over, hugged Tao Jing's leg, and called out, "Aunt Tao, Uncle Tao, good morning!"

Her sweet voice finally calmed them down a bit, but Tao Ran's expression remained serious.

He gave a faint "hmm," nodded to Wan Qiqi, and entered the courtyard.

Wan Qiqi could tell he was preoccupied, but she didn't bother to chase after him to ask. Instead, she stopped in front of Tao Jing, took out the medicine powder she had prepared, and said, "This is wound medicine made in the village. It's better than any other medicine. Please give it to your brother for me."

Tao Jing stared blankly for a moment, then took the medicine and said, "Thank you, Sister Qi. My brother is in a bad mood, please don't take offense."

"It's alright." Wan Qiqi smiled faintly and didn't press for details about what had happened.

Tao Jing instead said, "Don't worry, An'an will be fine as long as she stays with me. And no one should cause trouble at the academy again in the future."

"Yes, I trust you with the child." Wan Qiqi paused, then asked, "Why is someone causing trouble?"

Tao Jing hesitated for a long time, wanting to speak but stopping herself, and finally sighed, saying, "My brother doesn't want to mention this matter to outsiders anymore, so I'd better not say anything!"

"Okay." Wan Qiqi didn't ask any further questions. After watching Tao Jing lead the person into the academy, she turned and left.

For some reason, she felt a pang of sadness watching An'an being led into the academy by Tao Jing.

Why is it that Pingping can study openly and honestly, while An'an can only get in through connections?

She gazed at the rising sun on the horizon and sighed.

When Wan Qiqi arrived at the town entrance, she collected all the wild vegetables that the women had picked and then sold them in the system's marketplace.

There are many kinds of wild vegetables in spring, and after preparing them, one can earn at least one or two taels of silver a day.

If the wild vegetables are rare and plentiful, one can earn between two and three ounces.

These small amounts, accumulated day by day, can eventually add up to a considerable sum of silver.

After finishing these tasks, Wan Qiqi strolled around the streets as usual, preparing to ask Uncle Xiang about what happened at the academy yesterday.

Before she could find Uncle Xiang, she heard a lot of gossip.

Have you heard about Hefeng Academy?

"They must have heard about it. It's such a big deal, who wouldn't know..."

When Wan Qiqi heard people talking about He Feng, she slowed down and prepared to listen to what had happened.

She hadn't walked two steps when she encountered villagers coming to the town for the early morning market, interrupting her plans.

"Qiqi, the seedling you gave me last time is growing so well! I just wonder what it will look like to eat, and what the fruit will look like..."

Aunt Youyi kept talking in Wan Qiqi's ear for a while, so Wan Qiqi could only hear the words "fighting", "woman" and "fire" in the conversation.

Afterwards, Wan Qiqi simply gave up listening to the discussions and started talking seriously with Aunt Youyi.

"It's just a seedling, I can't say for sure. Let's wait a month or two and see if it can flower and bear fruit. Who knows, we might end up eating fruit!" Wan Qiqi grinned, as if she really didn't know anything.

“That’s true. We’ll just eat the fruit. Let’s plant it for a while and then talk about it.” Aunt Youyi nodded in agreement, but before ending the conversation, she brought up the story of Chen Yongxing living in the wasteland for the sake of the seedlings.

After Aunt Youyi finished speaking, the people who had been discussing the matter dispersed.

When Wan Qiqi went to the place where she usually met Uncle Xiang, she couldn't find him anywhere.

Wan Qiqi knew that someone must have come before Uncle Xiang left.

The only person who could make Uncle Xiang leave her was Wu Gousheng.

Wan Qiqi didn't linger. She walked through the streets and alleys and headed straight for Xinglong Restaurant.

At this time, the restaurant had not yet officially opened for business, and everyone was cleaning and chatting at the same time.

Some people were estimating the restaurant's revenue yesterday; some were talking about the strange customers they encountered yesterday; and others started a poll on how strict the two managers were.

Just as they were tallying the results, Wan Qiqi suddenly appeared, silencing the group. They immediately buried themselves in their work, not daring to utter another word.

When Si Xi saw Wan Qiqi, he was a little surprised and said, "Sister Qi, why are you here so early today?"

"Get up a little earlier." Wan Qiqi didn't pay attention to their previous conversation. She glanced around and saw Wu Gousheng talking to Tie Niu not far away. She called out, "Gousheng, come to the study with me."
