Chapter 48 Going Home

Chapter 48 Going Home

Looking at the empty medicine hut, Dr. Sun was filled with joy.

The more disappointed I was when my medicine shop had no one to advise me, the happier I am now.

The fact that severely ill patients with the plague are gradually becoming mild cases is a good thing for both the village and the individuals involved.

Chen Lizheng walked in with a smile, "Old Sun, you're really something, you've truly cured this plague!"

Sun Langzhong smiled and rolled his eyes. "This is all thanks to Qiqi's help. She provided a lot of advice. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to guarantee that the villagers could be cured."

“Yes, Chen Wanshi deserves credit!” Chen Lizheng smiled and stroked his mustache. “Once the plague is over, I will definitely report to the county government and ask for a reward for the Chen family. Old Sun, you will get one too…”

Wan Qiqi glanced at the gloomy sky outside the window and said calmly, "We can only assess the merits after the last person has recovered. If the plague is not well controlled, it is very likely to make a comeback."

"Qiqi is right. Although there is no serious illness, we still need to be vigilant. Old Chen, your task is going to be more important!" Doctor Sun patted Chen Lizheng on the shoulder and slowly walked out.

Chen Lizheng recalled that in order to control the spread of the plague, the bodies of those who died from the disease were forcibly burned, which aroused the dissatisfaction of many villagers.

Although the relief from the plague was convincing, it still failed to calm the emotions of those people.

He turned his attention to Wan Qiqi, hoping she could give him some advice.

Over the past few days, he discovered that Wan Qiqi had unique ideas. If she were a man, she would definitely be a pillar of the nation. It's a pity she gave birth to a woman...

Wan Qiqi glanced at him and said respectfully, "Lord Village Head, I am just a woman. The management of village affairs is still handled by the Village Head."

She smiled, her eyes crinkling, and turned to leave the house.

Standing in the courtyard, Dr. Sun saw Wan Qiqi come out, chuckled twice, and whispered, "Let him handle it himself. We're only responsible for treating her."

"Mmm." Wani Qiqi nodded, feeling great.

Once the plague is under control, there will be no pressure!

But... her wallet was empty too!

Originally, I had more than ten taels of silver, but now I have less than one tael left.

Her task of saving money to support her family has to start all over again!

Fortunately, everyone is still here, and they have successfully weathered the most dangerous moment, seeing hope for victory.

As the epidemic subsided, the village gradually reopened, with only a few households near Sun Langzhong's house still under martial law. Villagers were free to move around the village.

After this ordeal, many people have run out of food, even rice bran is gone, but thankfully they survived.

Some people were skeptical when they heard that they could move around freely, thinking, "How could the plague end like this?"

But after waiting at home for a day and seeing everyone going out to work in the fields as usual, they were willing to believe that the epidemic was really under control.

Many people wanted to leave the village, but found that they were still being guarded and could only move around in the village and the surrounding mountains.

Furthermore, the village head requested that everyone cover their faces when going out and minimize contact with others.

As the epidemic subsided, those who went to help were kept under observation for two days. Since no one showed signs of infection, they were all sent back home, including the Chen family.

Upon hearing the news, Lin Dazhuang and his sister Lin Zhaodi secretly went to the vicinity of the Chen family and bumped into each other.

"Sister, what brings you here?" Lin Dazhuang asked in surprise. He remembered his third sister saying she had gone up the mountain!

"I...I came to see..." Lin Zhaodi was caught red-handed by her younger brother and was a little embarrassed. "Sister-in-law Chen taught me how to make octopus. Now that I'm back, I want to thank her."

"Oh, octopuses are quite delicious." Lin Dazhuang didn't think much of it because he had already seen Chen Yongliang.

A smile played on his lips as he rushed out and hugged Chen Yongliang tightly. "Brother Yongliang, I knew you'd be alright!"

Chen Yongliang was knocked back several steps before regaining his balance. He then pulled Lin Dazhuang's hand off his neck and complained, "I wasn't killed by the plague, but you're going to kill me!"

Lin Dazhuang chuckled and punched Chen Yongliang in the chest, a smile playing on his lips. "When did you become so fragile?"

"I'm still recovering from my illness, and I'm quite weak!" Chen Yongliang pretended to be weak, completely forgetting that before he recovered, he had shown off his muscles in front of Wan Qiqi to show that he was strong.

The smile on Lin Zhaodi's face vanished instantly, replaced by a hint of worry.

"Your sister is here too?" Chen Yongliang was somewhat surprised to see Lin Zhaodi.

"Yes, she said she was coming to see your sister-in-law." Lin Dazhuang then looked behind Chen Yongliang and found that he was alone. "Where are your older brother and sister-in-law?"

"They'll be back in two more days, until the plague is completely cured." Chen Yongliang felt a bit troubled thinking about this. How could he tell his mother, and how could he explain it to Pingping and An'an?

They agreed to go and come back together. The two children will be heartbroken to see him return but not their parents.

Lin Dazhuang nodded, looked at Lin Zhaodi, and noticed that her gaze was fixed on Chen Yongliang. "Third Sister, why are you looking at Brother Yongliang?"

"No...no..." Lin Zhaodi lowered her head. "I...I'll go back first..." She left in a hurry, afraid that the two of them would notice that she was blushing.

Chen Yongliang and Lin Dazhuang exchanged a glance, shrugged, and walked towards the Chen family home together.

"Didn't they say the people who helped were back? Yongxing, go and check again. Why haven't your older brother and the others returned yet?" Wang stood at the gate of the courtyard, looking at the mountain road with her two children, appearing somewhat disappointed.

Chen Yongxing wiped the sweat from his forehead and placed his hands on the hoe handle. "Mother, don't worry! They'll be back soon!" he said with a hint of helplessness.

He had only been turning over the soil for half an hour, and Wang had already asked him the same question no less than ten times.

Not only that, she would take something out to wash every now and then, or she would clean the kitchen.
