She craned her neck to look at the lake, then said in distress, "Oh no, my book is gone!"
"A book?" Wan Qiqi vaguely realized that she might have misunderstood the girl, and lowered her head, saying, "I'm sorry, I thought you..."
"It's nothing," the girl said casually. "I know you mean well, big sister."
As she spoke, she began to wring out the water from her trouser legs.
After wringing it dry, she turned her head to take a closer look at the woman sitting next to her, then jumped up in surprise and said, "Madam, I'm so sorry, I've wet your dress!"
Wan Qiqi waved her hand and began to wring out her wet skirt, saying, "It's nothing, as long as you're not trying to commit suicide!"
Then she smiled and said, "I still prefer you calling me 'big sister'."
This misunderstanding eased Wan Qiqi's previous disappointment, and a smile naturally appeared on her face.
Or rather, the girl's vitality seemed to possess a magical power, dispelling the gloom in her heart.

Wan Qiqi was taken aback, finding the girl quite interesting, and asked, "How did you figure that out?"
The girl blinked and said, "When most people see someone by the lake, shouldn't they think about enjoying the scenery? Besides, my book was so obviously in the water, yet you didn't notice it. Instead, you noticed me walking towards the lake. It must be because you're in a bad mood that you assume I'm in a bad mood too."
Wan Qiqi thought the girl's words made some sense, nodded, and then, remembering the book she mentioned, asked, "Your book? You can read?"
The girl hesitated for a long time, seemingly struggling with whether or not to talk to the stranger.
But thinking about what the older sister had just done, she felt that the older sister wasn't a bad person, so she nodded and said, "I know a little. My mother taught me."
Wan Qiqi sized up the girl.
She was dressed plainly, and it was obvious that she wasn't from a wealthy family.
But judging from the condition of their home, it shouldn't be bad. Their clothes were clean and tidy, and the patterns on their clothes were particularly lifelike.
The girl seemed to notice Wan Qiqi staring at her sleeve and smiled, "Isn't it pretty? My mother embroidered it; she's incredibly skilled!"
