Chapter 486 Catching the Thief

Chapter 486 Catching the Thief

The unexpected words delighted the bearded man.

He quickly ushered her up, saying, "Young lady, please come upstairs. I guarantee you'll be satisfied."

Wu Gousheng knew Wan Qiqi's intentions, but he was unwilling to let her go up alone.

In his eyes, his Sister Qi was weak and powerless, no match for the bearded man.

He put on a wronged look and said, "Sister Qi, I want to go up and take a look too. Can't you take me with you?"

Wan Qiqi: "..."

She really didn't know when Wu Gousheng had learned to act cute. His aggrieved look was so endearing that she didn't know what to say.

Remembering the past, she decided not to be stubborn and turned to the bearded man, saying, "My brother is curious, want to come along?"

The bearded man was naturally unwilling, but since he was alone, he couldn't act rashly, so he replied, "Alright, let's go together then."

He thought to himself that once he found out where the young woman lived, he could sneak over there at night, kidnap her, and do whatever he wanted with her.

This young woman looks frail; she certainly has no chance of resisting.

This skin is so nice, it must feel so good to touch...

Just thinking about it made him feel like he was floating on air, and he couldn't stop craving it.

Looking at the stubble-faced man's lewd smile, Wu Gousheng really wanted to beat him up and gouge out his eyes, but without Wan Qiqi's orders, he dared not make a move.

Upon reaching the second floor, it was indeed quite different from the first floor.

Both the decorations and the furnishings appear quite new.

"The second floor is alright. I wonder how much silver it would cost to buy this shop?" Wan Qiqi chose a clean spot to sit down, adopting a posture of discussing with the stubble-faced man.

The bearded man had no idea about any of this; he was there to rob them.

However, thinking that he could get the silver and then rob the woman, it didn't seem so bad. He immediately put on the air of a boss and said, "Young lady, if you want it, one hundred taels of silver is the price."

Wan Qiqi frowned slightly, seemingly quite dissatisfied.

The bearded man sensed something was wrong and immediately changed his mind, saying, "How about ninety taels? You're good-looking and well-dressed, so you're sure to spend more than that amount of money."

At this point, he realized that the woman was well-dressed and might be a rich man's daughter.

But upon closer inspection, it doesn't quite seem like it.

“Alright, ninety taels. Write the resale contract, and we’ll go to the government office to get the documents stamped. That’ll be it.” Wan Qiqi smiled slightly, appearing very composed.

Upon hearing that they were going to the government office, the bearded man's face immediately changed. He said, "No, ninety taels is too little. I'll lose money. One hundred taels... no, one hundred and fifty taels. Will you buy it or not?"

Wan Qiqi's expression finally turned cold at this moment, and she said, "Brother, in business, you have to keep your word. It's not very nice of you to go back on your word like this."

The bearded man finally realized that this woman was no pushover.

Recalling the woman's arrival, he finally realized something was wrong and immediately snapped, "I'm not selling anymore! I'm not selling anymore... I'm not selling anymore! Go back to where you came from!"

"Brother, what you're doing is wrong?"

If there were a cup of tea at this moment, Wan Qiqi would definitely be sitting and drinking tea while chatting with the person in front of her, appearing relaxed and natural.

"You're the one who invited me in to look at the shop, and you're also the one who promised to sell it to me for ninety taels. How can you suddenly say you won't sell it anymore?" Wan Qiqi's face showed a bit of grievance.

The bearded man was so attracted by Wan Qiqi's aggrieved look that he almost blurted out "I'll sell you."

Then, he pinched himself to clear his head and said, "I'm not selling anymore, I'm not selling anymore! Even if the King of Heaven himself came today, I wouldn't sell!"

As soon as he finished speaking, footsteps suddenly came from downstairs.

Judging from the voices, there were at least a dozen people.

Moreover, the shop door appeared to have been kicked open.

The bearded man realized something was wrong and looked at Wan Qiqi in fear, saying, "You...you reported it to the authorities?"

"My guards were worried something might happen to me, so they called the constables. I'm really sorry." Wan Qiqi put on an innocent expression, as if it really had nothing to do with her.

The bearded man leaned out of the window and his eyes met those of the constable below. Startled, he immediately ducked back, trying to reach for the dagger hidden at his waist, only to find it empty.

He seemed somewhat panicked, and then he saw that his dagger was already in Wan Qiqi's hand, for her to play with.

"Who...who are you?"

Wan Qiqi pulled the dagger away, and the smooth blade immediately reflected her cunning eyes. She said slowly, "I will not change my name or surname, I am Wan Qiqi."

"Wan Qiqi?" The bearded man looked confused.

While he hesitated, a person suddenly jumped in through the window, kicked him to the ground, and pinned him down.

The bearded man struggled for a while but still couldn't break free of the control, and was then surrounded by the constables.

Li Wei released the bearded man, handed him over to the constable, and pushed him aside.

Wan Qiqi stood up, walked towards the bearded man, and said, "You don't know Wan Qiqi, but you should have heard about the bandit suppression in Lianshan. There was a couple who were rewarded for their meritorious service, right? Unfortunately, I am the wife of that couple!"

The bearded man then realized what was happening, his eyes filled with panic and even a hint of despair.

Yes, many people are still unfamiliar with Wan Qiqi and Chen Yongnian.

But whenever the topic of suppressing bandits in Lianshan comes up, everyone knows that a man from the Hefeng Martial Arts School climbed a cliff with his bare hands and, together with his captured wife, managed to bring the children of wealthy families home safely.

Before the bearded man could speak, his mouth was immediately gagged, and he was taken away.

Wan Qiqi stood there for a long time, watching the pressure difference disappear before she finally breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground.
