Chapter 537 New Residence

Chapter 537 New Residence

The three of them sat on the terrace and talked for quite a while.

Wan Qiqi found the terrace increasingly pleasing to the eye and wanted to place a lounge chair there to comfortably sunbathe.

This is truly comforting.

Zhu Chengye brought his newly recruited employees and introduced Wan Qiqi to them.

Perhaps because they had never seen a restaurant with a female owner before, these people seemed a little curious and glanced at her a few more times.

However, some people were unhappy about this, seemingly unwilling for the woman to be the hostess and have to manage them.

Wan Qiqi wrote down all these people's names, planning to find time to train them, otherwise the restaurant might be in trouble.

Having met her new staff, visited restaurants, and strolled through the streets, Wan Qiqi got up, ready to check out her new place of residence.

Zhu Chengye followed her downstairs and asked, "I've already arranged accommodations for the restaurant staff. Have you booked yours yet? Yunhe County is big, and the housing prices aren't low; it's quite an expense."

“Brother Zhu, how come you’re just like my mother-in-law?” Wan Qiqi couldn’t help but complain, then smiled and said, “I also have someone in my family who works in the county government, so no one should dare to quote a high price to him.”

Zhu Chengye hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "You should go back to your lodgings and rest. I'm busy with the restaurant. You're new to Yunhe County, so you probably still have a lot to take care of. Once you're done, go see your sister-in-law. She's been wanting to learn a trade from you for a long time."

"Great! I'll definitely go visit my sister-in-law!" Wan Qiqi smiled, her eyes crinkling into a bright smile.

Despite working with Zhu Chengye for so long, Wan Qiqi had never actually met his family.

Sometimes, Wan Qiqi even felt that Zhu Chengye was a loner who didn't seem to have a family.

Upon arriving in Yunhe County, she finally saw Zhu Chengye's family, which made her feel that Zhu Chengye had warmth and was no longer just a tool buried in work.

Before the two even reached the door, they saw an official with a knife standing there.

He stood straight in the doorway, sunlight falling on his profile, making his features appear sharp and defined. He was fair-skinned but not delicate, and his brows exuded a heroic air.

Wan Qiqi was so engrossed that she didn't hear what Zhu Chengye was saying in her ear.

She finally realized what it meant to be blinded by love.

It turns out that when she sees someone she likes, she unconsciously projects a glow onto them, just like when she sees Chen Yongnian now, she feels as if he is bathed in light.

Suddenly, a figure blocked the light in front of her, causing her to frown.

"Brother-in-law, what are you doing here?" Wu Gousheng said with a smile, completely unaware of the hostile gaze on the person behind him.

He only shivered and moved away when he felt a chill run down his spine.

He looked at Wan Qiqi with a puzzled expression and said, "Sister Qi, there are still a few days until the start of summer. Why do I feel a chill on my back? Am I going to catch a cold?"

Wan Qiqi glanced at him and said, "Just get more sun!"

"Oh," Wu Gousheng replied, stepping aside to give up his seat.

Upon seeing the young couple meet, Zhu Chengye said to Wu Gousheng, "Gousheng, there are still some things to do at the restaurant, and we're short-staffed. Could you stay and help out?"

“Sure!” Wu Gousheng replied and immediately went inside.

Chen Yongnian looked at her for a while, then looked at Wan Qiqi and said gently, "Aren't Pingping and An'an coming over?"

"They still have to go to school, so they won't be coming over yet!" Wan Qiqi glanced around, not seeing anyone else from the county government office, and asked, "Are you patrolling alone?"

"No, I asked Mr. Pang for leave and will take you back to your residence." Chen Yongnian said, glancing at the street and noticing many people watching him and his wife. He frowned and said, "Shall we talk as we walk?"

He didn't like others looking at his wife with curious eyes, because his wife was his.

Wan Qiqi did not refuse and followed Chen Yongnian into the crowd, saying, "Aren't you afraid that the people in the county government will have a problem with you if you keep taking leave every few days?"

“If you come here, I won’t need to ask for leave. Besides, the two officials allow me to go home and stay at the county office.” Chen Yongnian said, a bright smile spreading across his face.

When the two reached an intersection, Chen Yongnian slowed his pace and gestured for Wan Qiqi to walk into the alley.

After passing through a narrow alley, you will see neatly arranged residential houses.

Chen Yongnian led Wan Qiqi onward and stopped at the entrance of what appeared to be a large courtyard.

He took out his keys and opened the gate to the yard.

This courtyard is actually quite similar to the courtyards in the town, with a well, an elm tree, and a set of stone tables and chairs, except that this house is only one story, not two.

One master bedroom, two secondary bedrooms, plus a living room, kitchen, and woodshed.

It's still a simple setup, not much different from the ones in town.

Seeing Wan Qiqi standing still, Chen Yongnian explained, "I've compared them, and this courtyard is the most suitable location for you to go to the restaurant, although it's a bit small... If you don't think it's suitable, I'll find another one."

“This place is fine. I don’t have any high requirements.” Wan Qiqi stepped inside, looked around, sat down on the stone bench, and said, “We won’t be home for long. This place is fine. We might have to move again soon, so there’s no need to make it too big.”

Chen Yongnian nodded in agreement, and then added, "I...I haven't bought anything yet, so I don't know what kind you like. I wanted to wait for you to come and look at things together."

He felt a pang of guilt because he didn't know his wife well enough, and didn't even know what kind of woman she liked.

Seeing this, Wan Qiqi said, "I don't actually have any requirements for these things. I like everything you pick, like this hairpin you bought, I really like it."

As she spoke, she reached out and touched the hairpin in her hair bun, a happy smile spreading across her face.
