Chapter 549 The Gift Giver

Chapter 549 The Gift Giver

The commotion at the restaurant entrance attracted the attention of many people.

The guests sitting inside also looked up, wanting to see what was happening at the door.

Actually, there was only a middle-aged man and a child at the entrance, both of whom were carrying weapons, which attracted a lot of attention.

If there's anything that truly drew everyone's attention, it's this middle-aged man.

Many people recognized him as Pang Zhao, the county magistrate!

"Why would Magistrate Pang come here? I don't recall ever hearing that Magistrate Pang has any connection with Xinglong Restaurant."

"That's hard to say. The military garrison is under the jurisdiction of County Commandant Pang, and Manager Wan's husband is also the head of the military garrison. Doesn't that give us a connection?"

"This is just a superior-subordinate relationship, and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with Xinglong Restaurant."

"What kind of relationship exists is none of our business, and there are some things we shouldn't pry into too much. There's a saying: the more you know, the more dangerous it is..."

As soon as those words were spoken, the discussion gradually subsided.

Wan Qiqi and Chen Yongnian also arrived at the entrance of the restaurant. When they saw the people coming from the entrance, they raised their hands in greeting and said, "Greetings, Lord Pang!"

Pang Zhao waved his hand, indicating that they didn't need to be so polite. He then had his attendant hand two boxes to Chen Yongnian, saying, "I heard that Xinglong Restaurant is opening, so I prepared some small gifts. Please don't find them offensive."

"How could we possibly look down on this? It's an honor for our restaurant that Mr. Pang has come!" Wan Qiqi smiled and told the waiter to put the gifts away. She then said to Chen Yongnian, "Yongnian, there are some private rooms available on the third floor. Could you please take Mr. Pang to rest there?"

The restaurant is temporarily open to the public on the first and second floors. The five private rooms on the third floor are not open to the public and are reserved for guests of special status.

Xiao Huai was one of them, and Pang Zhao, as a county magistrate, was naturally entitled to rest on the third floor.

"Then I'll go upstairs and sit for a while, so as not to disturb your work!"

After exchanging a few words with Wan Qiqi, Pang Zhao, led by Chen Yongnian, headed to the third floor.

At this moment, the child who had been standing to the side carrying the gift box finally spoke up, "Sister Qi, are you done with your work?"

He blinked, and with his soft hair, he looked like an innocent little puppy, making you want to pat his head.

Wan Qiqi reached out and patted Chen Molin's head, saying, "Why did you come? And why did you bring things?"

"My master originally planned to come, but he had official business at the county office and couldn't get away, so he sent me instead!" Chen Molin said with a hint of disappointment, but by the end, a bright smile appeared on his face.

Unable to get away?

Wan Qiqi felt that Fang Ziming and Xie Xing weren't really busy, but rather wanted to find out what the other would do.

These people have become cautious and will not act rashly!

“Okay, what would you like to eat? I’ll have the kitchen prepare it for you.” Wan Qiqi said, taking the gift from Chen Molin’s hand and leading him to the counter to put the gift down.

Zhu Youcai looked at the child who reached Wan Qiqi's shoulder and asked curiously, "Manager Wan, who is this?"

“My younger brother, Chen Molin.” Wan Qiqi’s eyes curved into crescent moons as she said this.

It was obvious that she liked this younger brother very much.

"Hello, Uncle." Chen Molin greeted him politely.

Zhu Youcai paused for a moment, then replied, "Okay, okay... Do you want some candy? I have some here."

He grabbed a handful of candy from the counter, which was meant for the customers, and put it into Chen Molin's palm.

This simple, straightforward, and somewhat naive approach to care is Zhu Youcai's best way of expressing himself right now.

Even though he has children at home, he is not good at coaxing them.

Or rather, he seemed completely clueless about everything except accounting.

Since adults and children have different hand sizes, Chen Molin used both hands to catch the candy and prevent it from falling.

He turned his head to look at Wan Qiqi, as if asking what to do with the candy.

Wan Qiqi took a small handful from his hand and put it back in the counter, saying, "He doesn't like sweets very much. I have some freshly made candied fruit. I'll give it to him later."

Chen Molin nodded vigorously, indicating his approval.

Actually, what child doesn't like sweets? But he's losing his baby teeth, and Sister Qi said that he shouldn't eat too much sweets when he's losing his baby teeth, otherwise his teeth won't grow in properly!

He didn't want to have a gap in his teeth, as it would look bad and make him speak with a lisp.

Just then, the waiter who was responsible for greeting customers at the door hurriedly walked inside, looking around as if searching for something.

Finally, his gaze settled on the counter.

"Manager Wan, Zuijianglou has sent someone with gifts. Should we accept them?"

Wan Qiqi raised an eyebrow, thinking to herself that Manager Lü really did what he said he would do!

"Answer it? Why don't you answer it?"

She looked at Chen Molin, then at the seat where Fang Luxue had been sitting, which was now empty, and said, "Sit here and play for a while. Order whatever you want to eat. I have some things to do."

"Okay, Sister Qi, you're busy, I won't bother you." Chen Molin was very obedient and chose a secluded spot to sit down.

Wan Qiqi gave the waiter some pointers on Chen Molin's habits before following another person toward the door.

At the entrance of the restaurant.

The person giving the gift paced back and forth, his brow furrowed, seemingly quite dissatisfied with the scene before him.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, the shop is busy." Wan Qiqi walked out with a smile, tilting her head to look at the person who brought the gift, but she didn't make any move to let anyone accept the gift.

"Hmph, what a big shot!" The gift-giver flicked his sleeves, put his hands behind his back, raised his head arrogantly, and said, "So what if there are a lot of people at the opening? If you're so capable, let's see if your business can be this good in the future."

"Then I'll take your good wishes!" Wan Qiqi was completely unaffected, maintaining a cheerful and smiling demeanor.

She then had the waiter accept the gift and said, "I've received the gift, so I won't invite you in for tea. After all, your manager probably wouldn't think much of a small restaurant like ours, right?"
