Chapter 564 The Zhu Family as Guests

Chapter 564 The Zhu Family as Guests

Zhu Chengye's house is located in the northern part of Yunhe County, some distance from Wan Qiqi's house.

Therefore, by the time Wan Qiqi brought Chen Yongnian to Zhu Chengye's house, it was already dark.

The Zhu family's house was neither very large nor very small; it was about the same size as the Wan family's house back then.

There were several servants in the house who were in charge of household affairs. Zhu Chengye's wife, Zhu Lingshi, only needed to manage the affairs of the courtyard and take good care of their son who was studying.

Zhu Lingshi was a little shorter than Wan Qiqi, slightly plump, and seemed to be a good-natured person.

When she saw Wan Qiqi come in, she immediately dropped what she was doing to go and greet her. She wiped her hands on her apron before taking Wan Qiqi's hand and said, "Qiqi, you've finally come! Come and teach me how you stir-fry meat. I can't seem to get that flavor."

Upon seeing this, Zhu Chengye said, "My lady, Qiqi is a guest. Let her sit down and rest. Let the servants take care of the rest."

"That won't do. I finally managed to invite the chef to my home, so I have to teach him a thing or two. Don't stop me, or I'll get angry with you." Zhu Lingshi's hands on her hips made her look somewhat unreasonable.

But her face was beaming with a bright smile, which made her seem a bit arrogant.

Zhu Chengye sighed slightly helplessly, shook his head and said, "Sigh, I can't help you anymore, you'd better figure it out yourself!"

Zhu Lingshi won and showed a smug expression, but she did not pull Wan Qiqi into the kitchen directly. Instead, she asked, "Qiqi, this is your first time in the Zhu family. You're not going to blame your sister-in-law for making you do things, are you?"

As she spoke, she suddenly let go of Wan Qiqi's hand and said, "Never mind, never mind, I can't scare you away, otherwise that old man will blame me and make him lose his business partner."

"I'm listening! Please don't talk bad about me in front of outsiders, okay?" Zhu Chengye turned his head and said, his face still showing helplessness.

"Hmph, I don't care. Qiqi is not an outsider. She is my good sister." Zhu Lingshi said, hugging Wan Qiqi tightly as if she were holding a precious treasure.

Wan Qiqi didn't resist the hug; in fact, she quite liked the way Zhu Chengye and Zhu Lingshi interacted, appearing relaxed and happy.

But she also clearly sensed one thing: Zhu Lingshi, like Zhu Chengye, was a master of PUA.

The meaning behind those few words I just said to myself is quite obvious.

Chen Yongnian stood to the side, looking somewhat dazed and out of place.

He seemed unable to get a word in edgewise, and didn't know what to do, so he could only stand there and watch Zhu Chengye and his wife bicker.

"I don't care about any of that." Wan Qiqi grabbed Zhu Lingshi's arm and laughed, "Sister-in-law, whatever you want to learn, I'll teach you. I guarantee that after you graduate, you'll be in high demand by all the restaurants."

"That's great! I can go out and be a cook now, and I won't have to put up with someone's attitude at home anymore!" Zhu Lingshi said, pulling Wan Qiqi inside.

Zhu Chengye turned his head and shouted, "You really think I'm not here? When have I ever given you attitude? Would I dare?"

After he finished speaking, he smiled indulgently, waved to Chen Yongnian, and said, "Come on, let's go to the main hall and wait there, have some tea, and chat."

"Okay," Chen Yongnian replied, following behind Zhu Chengye, but his eyes were still fixed on the direction of the kitchen, unable to look away.

Zhu Chengye looked slightly helpless, reached out and grabbed Chen Yongnian's arm, and said, "Don't worry, my wife won't do anything to your wife. When you go back, you'll still be a perfectly healthy wife, without any... missing pieces of flesh."

He originally wanted to say "a strand of hair," but then he remembered that his wife often lost hair, and he figured Wan Qiqi must be the same.

You can't make such boastful claims. If Chen Yongnian takes it seriously and comes looking for you even if you're missing a single hair, then you'll be in real trouble!

After glancing at it a few times, Chen Yongnian finally looked away and followed Zhu Chengye to the main hall.

The moonlight was bright and clear, and a gentle breeze was refreshing.

Zhu Lingshi brought over a steaming bowl of soup, her face beaming with smiles, and said, "Yongnian, try my cooking. It's not quite as good as your wife's."

"My lady, how do you expect Yongnian to respond to what you've said?" Zhu Chengye's words carried a hint of reprimand.

Zhu Ling glanced at Zhu Chengye, seemingly unhappy, and sat down without saying a word.

When Wan Qiqi came in and saw this scene, she couldn't help but laugh and said, "Why are you two fighting?"

β€œHe said I was making things difficult for Yongnian.” Madam Zhu Ling glanced at Zhu Chengye, turned around and faced away from him, and said, β€œI just want Yongnian to judge how much of what I did is comparable to what you did.”

Wan Qiqi walked over, reached out and gently pinched Zhu Lingshi's face with a smile, and said affectionately, "Sister-in-law is so smart, I can learn it in no time. I think you are much better than me. I have to practice again and again before I can make any progress."

Upon hearing these humble words, Madam Zhu Ling's face immediately lit up with a bright smile. She said, "Qiqi, you're being too modest! Stop fooling around, let's sit down and eat first, or the food will get cold."

At this moment, the servants brought the child who was studying in the study out to meet Wan Qiqi and Chen Yongnian.

The child was a few years older than Pingping and had a scholarly air about him, which made Wan Qiqi feel that if he continued to raise him like this, he might become a bookworm.

But she couldn't interfere with how other families raised their children.

After dinner, the moon had quietly climbed over the hillside, and night enveloped the entire land, making everything pitch black.

Seeing this, Madam Zhu Ling said, "Qiqi, it's getting late. If you don't mind, you can stay here and leave tomorrow."

Wan Qiqi walked to the door, turned back, and said, "It's okay, with Yongnian here, there won't be any danger. There are still people at home; they'll worry if we don't go back."

Zhu Ling thought about it and realized it made sense. "Wait a minute, don't go yet, I'll get you something..."
