Chapter 582 Refusal to Join

Chapter 582 Refusal to Join

Regardless of the changes in restaurants and eateries, the small stalls continue to do business, and the bustling streets remain the same.

Wan Qiqi walked through the bustling streets and came to a food stall, where she found a place to sit down.

Someone immediately came to greet and receive her.

"Young lady, what would you like to eat?" the hunchbacked man asked. Seeing the person in the seat look up, he suddenly smiled and said, "Young lady, I remember you. You've eaten here before, haven't you?"

Wan Qiqi smiled and said, "Yes, I've been here many times. I'd like to ask you for a favor."

"Help?" The hunchbacked man seemed puzzled, as if he couldn't remember what the other party wanted him to do, and looked slightly confused.

"Young lady, what do you want me to do? I'm old and my memory isn't what it used to be. Did I do anything for you?" the hunchbacked man asked patiently.

He liked the guest in front of him quite a bit and enjoyed his smile, but he couldn't remember what the guest had asked him for help with.

"It's alright, uncle. Bring me a bowl of their signature noodles first, and I'll talk to you about it when you're less busy."

Wan Qiqi glanced around and saw that although the noodle stall was small, it had quite a few customers, coming and going almost non-stop.

Such an environment and group of people are not suitable for conversation.

"Okay. My daughter-in-law is at the shop today. I'll serve you some food first, and then I'll listen to you slowly."

As the hunchbacked man walked inside, he kept thinking back to what he had asked the girl about, and why he had no recollection of it at all.

"Dad, what's wrong? What kind of noodles did the customer order?"

A large figure was squeezed into the small kitchen; she occupied the kitchen all by herself, making it impossible for anyone else to enter.

"The minibus stop." The hunchbacked man said, stopping by the window outside the kitchen, his hand constantly touching his head, muttering, "What exactly did I promise her..."

Upon hearing this, the person cooking noodles inside suddenly turned their head and asked, "Dad, what are you talking about? Who did you promise to do something? Let me tell you, don't chatter with the customers, or you'll get scammed without even knowing it!"

"Jinniang, don't worry, although I have a bad memory, I'm not so easily fooled," the hunchbacked man replied.

The plump woman busy in the kitchen was none other than Yao Jinniang, whom Wan Qiqi had asked the hunchbacked man three times about whom she wanted to see.

“Father, please don’t say that.” Yao Jinniang sighed, looking somewhat helpless. “I was just saying that last time, I had only been at Changchun Tower for less than half an hour when I heard that they were going to sell the stall. I was so scared that I didn’t do any work and ran straight back to deal with it.”

The hunchbacked man turned his face away and said in a low voice, "You keep saying I don't remember things. How could I possibly sell a stall to make a living..."

Upon hearing this, Yao Jinniang could only sigh helplessly.

She couldn't remember how many times her father-in-law had given this explanation, and it was always the same.

But it's not hard to blame him, after all, his memory has been poor all these years.

"Jinniang, the girl sitting outside looks kind. Even if she wants me to do something for her, it shouldn't be anything bad. Her attitude is quite nice too..."

As the hunchbacked man spoke, he cautiously looked at Yao Jinniang, seemingly assessing her attitude towards the matter.

Yao Jinniang poured the toppings onto the freshly cooked noodles and carried them away from the kitchen.

“Dad, what you say sounds so good, I’ll go and take a look for you.”

Yao Jinniang carried the noodles out, finally spotting the person she was looking for in a small corner.

Although the woman was dressed plainly, not like a young lady or lady from a wealthy family, she had an extraordinary air about her and looked like she was no ordinary person.

Yao Jinniang placed the noodles in front of Wan Qiqi and said with a smile, "Madam, please enjoy your meal."

In ancient times, married women would comb their hair up, while only unmarried women would wear their hair down.

Wan Qiqi wore a simple bun hairstyle and a silver hairpin, making it easy to tell that she was a married woman.

But Wan Qiqi is not from ancient times after all, and sometimes she wears her hair down, which is why people mistake her for a girl.

"Thank you." Wan Qiqi tilted her head and smiled, without saying anything else.

Yao Jinniang was taken aback. She felt that the person in front of her looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere before, but she couldn't remember where.

"You're always running back and forth between the noodle stall and Chun Chang, you must be working so hard." Wan Qiqi said, mixing the noodles without looking up.

"Who are you?" Yao Jinniang looked at the woman in front of her warily.

This person seems to have investigated her beforehand; he doesn't have good intentions!

"I forgot to introduce myself, I am Wan Qiqi, the owner of Xinglong Restaurant."

The name "Wan Qiqi" startled Yao Jinniang, who then took two steps back.

"You... Manager Wan, is there something you need?" Yao Jinniang's smile disappeared, replaced by a hint of restraint and wariness.

Wan Qiqi glanced at the noodles in her hand, then at Yao Jinniang, and said, "I need to talk to you. Let's find a quiet place to chat after we finish our noodles."

After exchanging a few words with the hunchbacked man, Yao Jinniang walked into the alley with Wan Qiqi.

After navigating two alleys, there were finally no pedestrians left.

Yao Jinniang stopped and looked at Wan Qiqi's back. She asked seriously, "Manager Wan, what is it you need? I have other things to do later."

Wan Qiqi also stopped and turned to look at Yao Jinniang.

Just as rumored, Yao Jinniang's figure could be described as "obese".

However, she is not bad-looking. Even though she is chubby, it is not hard to see that she has delicate features. She would definitely be a beauty if she lost weight.

Wan Qiqi inquired about Yao Jinniang.

Yao Jinniang was born into a family that favored sons over daughters, where her younger brother always got priority. Later, she met a kind shop owner who not only gave her food but also helped her out and taught her a skill.

Later, she married the shop owner's son and became his daughter-in-law.
