Chapter 667 The Hideout in the Woodshed
"What is there to fear from an investigation if an official is honest and upright?"
After Liang Pengfei finished speaking, he drank the tea in front of him in one gulp, got up and walked towards the officials.
Upon seeing Liang Pengfei, the official bowed and respectfully said, "Sir, there is nothing unusual!"
Liang Pengfei nodded, signaling everyone to evacuate the restaurant.
He walked up to Wan Qiqi, raised his hand in a gesture of respect, and said, "Excuse me! If you have any news, please let me know!"
Wan Qiqi noticed the problem in the words, smiled slightly, and said, "If there is any news about the thieves, I will definitely inform the government."
Liang Pengfei paused slightly, his lips moved as if he wanted to say something.
He hesitated for a moment, then bowed again and said, "Manager Wan, this person is involved in a very serious matter, and it is not appropriate to make it public at the moment. I hope that Manager Wan can inform me directly after you see him!"
Wan Qiqi nodded gently, "Xinglong Restaurant will definitely cooperate with the government in the investigation!"
Liang Pengfei has his own difficulties, and Wan Qiqi has her own principles.
Seeing this, Liang Pengfei said nothing more and left with his men.
As she led her people away, Wan Qiqi's smile suddenly vanished, and her brows furrowed.
She turned around and asked, "Where's Erpang?"
"It seems to be in the woodshed in the backyard... What's wrong?" Zhu Youcai noticed that Wan Qiqi's expression was off and feared that something was wrong.
"It's alright, keep the business running and reassure the customers. I'll go look for him in the backyard!"
After Wan Qiqi finished speaking, she walked towards the backyard.
The door to the woodshed in the backyard was tightly closed.
Suddenly, the door opened.
Erpang poked his head out, looked around for a while, and then came out of the woodshed.
He came out and carefully closed the door, looking rather furtive.
"Erpang!"
A normal call startled Erpang so much that he jumped on the spot.
He looked like someone had caught him doing the worst thing.
Wan Qiqi naturally noticed this and asked, "What are you doing here?"
"I...I cleaned up some things!" Erpang stammered, his head hanging down.
Wan Qiqi glanced at the woodshed and said, "Erpang, you've been with me for quite some time now. I hope you know what's important and don't delay the restaurant's normal operation."
"Okay, I know!" Erpang replied, still keeping his head down.
Wan Qiqi didn't say much.
After giving her a brief reprimand, she turned and left.
Erpang breathed a sigh of relief after Wan Qiqi left, and then threw himself into his work.
But his attention was always on the woodshed, which caused him to do several wrong things that afternoon.
As night fell, he switched shifts with the others, stayed at the restaurant, and became the last person to leave.
He lit a candle, opened the woodshed door, and whispered, "Everyone in the restaurant has left. Come out and leave on your own!"
At that moment, a middle-aged man in tattered clothes jumped out of the woodpile.
The middle-aged man came out and knelt down before Erpang, kowtowing and saying, "Thank you, thank you, young brother!"
"Don't thank me, just go. I don't want to ruin my boss because of you!" Erpang turned his face away, not wanting to look at the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man immediately got up and ran outside.
Erpang watched the middle-aged man leave, lowered his head, and sighed.
He was actually very scared, afraid that Wan Qiqi would find out what he had done and kick him out.
However, he never imagined that he would have the chance to see his uncle again!
My second uncle died ten years ago after he became involved in a case!
However, his uncle's unexpected appearance today startled him.
"Ouch!"
Suddenly, shouts came from outside.
Erpang recognized his uncle's voice and immediately ran outside.
After running out, he stood there stunned, "Sister Qi... Sister Qi, Brother Gousheng..."
He swallowed hard, unsure of what to do.
Wan Qiqi glanced at Erpang, looked at the person Wu Gousheng had captured, and said coldly, "Send him to the authorities!"
Erpang's heart skipped a beat, and he immediately ran over, "Sister Qi, could you... not see me off?"
Before Wan Qiqi could speak, Wu Gousheng spoke first:
"Erpang, what are you thinking? Harboring prisoners will not only get you punished, but it will also implicate Sister Qi!"
Erpang's eyes reddened, and he suddenly knelt down in front of Wu Gousheng.
"Brother Gousheng, I beg you, please don't send him off!" His voice trembled, he choked up, and then said, "Even if you do send him off, could you at least let him go home first?"
Wu Gousheng frowned and, using the torch in his hand, examined the captured man once more.
This person looks familiar... I feel like I've seen them somewhere before...
Wan Qiqi naturally noticed these problems as well, and said coldly, "Let's go upstairs and talk in a private room!"
After a while, the four of them went to a private room on the third floor.
"Untie him and pour him a cup of tea!" Wan Qiqi sat down and gestured for Wu Gousheng to do so.
Upon hearing this, Erpang immediately said, "I'll do it, I'll do it..."
"Sit down, don't move!" Wu Gousheng said through gritted teeth, pressing Erpang back down.
He carried a teapot and two cups.
One was placed in front of Erpang, and the other was placed in front of Erpang's uncle.
Wu Gousheng stared at Erpang, poured two cups of tea, and untied the rope binding Erpang's uncle.
He moved a stool and sat down next to Uncle Erpang, as if afraid that the man might try to sneak away!
“You don’t need to sit there, he won’t run away!” Wan Qiqi reminded her.
"No, what if he has some ulterior motives? I can still capture him!" Wu Gousheng refused.
He wasn't afraid that the person would escape, but that this person would harm Wan Qiqi.
Wan Qiqi didn't dwell on the question and asked gently, "Who wants to speak first?"
"I, I..." Erpang said, trying to stand up.
Catching a sharp glint in Wu Gousheng's eyes, he immediately sat back down.
"Sister Qi, let me tell you!" Erpang said, bowing his head. "This person is my uncle, Zhao Yi."
"Zhao Yi!" Wu Gousheng suddenly stood up from the stool, his eyes filled with shock.
