Chapter 73 Honey Pomelo Tea

Chapter 73 Honey Pomelo Tea

An autumn rain caused a sudden drop in temperature, bringing a chill to the air.

Wan Qiqi opened the door and was immediately hit by a blast of cold wind.

Chen Yongliang walked over, looked at the gray sky outside, and asked in a low voice, "Sister-in-law, are we still going to town today?" He felt that it might rain again today.

It's cold, and many people are reluctant to go out, so there might not be many people willing to buy sweet soup.

Wan Qiqi sighed inwardly. She had spent two days preparing and finally decided to set up her stall, only to encounter such weather. Was fate deliberately making things difficult for her?

It's just that the weather is getting colder and colder, and if I don't go out and earn some money soon, it will be really hard to get by.

She closed the door and whispered, "Go! It's only the first day, we can't let the weather defeat us!"

The two men got the tools they needed for their stall by riding on Sun Qian's oxcart.

"Whose stuff is this? It's taking up so much space, how are we supposed to sit down?"

"That's right, Brother Sun, your oxcart is for transporting people to make money, not for transporting anything else!"

"Ouch, what's this stuff? It's so hot! What if it spills and burns us?!"

Wan Qiqi knew that these people were talking so much because they didn't like her.

Sun Qian turned around and smiled, "It's alright, my oxcart is very stable, nothing will happen."

“Brother Sun, we believe you, but we don’t believe some people. After all, even her own father was made sick by her. What else wouldn’t she do?”

"Yes, how can someone like that stay in the village? What if she's in a bad mood one day and poisons the whole village?"

"Hasn't she already drugged them? Otherwise, she could have completely bewitched them, making them unable to distinguish right from wrong!"

Wan Qiqi rolled her eyes, not wanting to pay any attention.

She maintained the same attitude: say whatever you want, it won't hurt me.

Chen Yongliang was not pleased to hear this and sat up straight, ready to retort.

Wan Qiqi tugged at him and whispered, "If a dog bites you, do you bite it back?"

Chen Yongliang replied matter-of-factly, "No, why should I bite back? Can't I fight back?"

His words made Wan Qiqi suddenly realize something.

Exactly! She doesn't have to retaliate verbally, but she can make others feel bad in other ways!

Wan Qiqi tugged at Chen Yongliang and whispered, "You can only feel good for a moment by cursing back like that. I have a way to make them come begging to me in the future. Do you believe me?"

Chen Yongliang nodded; he believed him!

Along the way, the two closed their eyes and ears, letting those people talk as they pleased.

After talking for a while, the villagers realized that the two men were not responding, so they stopped talking.

When we arrived at Hefeng Town, it was already broad daylight, but there was still no sunlight.

Sun Qian helped the two men unload their stall items, and after looking at them for a long time, he still couldn't figure out what they were planning to sell. Finally, he couldn't help but ask, "What kind of business are you planning to do?"

Wan Qiqi picked up a bamboo cup, scooped out a spoonful of jam, filled the cup with hot water, stirred it a few times, and handed it to Sun Qian, "Uncle Sun, have a taste."

After hesitating for a long time, Sun Qian finally took the cup and took a small sip.

A look of surprise crossed his face. "Is this grapefruit syrup?"

"Honey grapefruit tea." Wan Qiqi smiled. "What does Uncle Sun think?"

Sun Qian nodded: "The taste is excellent. How much do you price it?"

"Three coins." Wan Qiqi stared at Sun Qian. "Do you think this price is acceptable?"

"That's good." Sun Qian finished his honey grapefruit tea, took out three copper coins from his pocket, and handed the cup back to Wan Qiqi.

Wan Qiqi took the cup but not the coins. "Please drink this cup. We hope you can introduce us to customers."

Sun Qian nodded, not continuing the topic, and asked, "When will you return? My oxcart will be back by noon at the latest, just like always."

Seeing his reaction, Wan Qiqi understood what he meant and didn't press further. She answered his question, "If I return to the village, I will arrive at the town entrance before noon. If I don't, there's no need to wait for me!"

"Okay, you guys go ahead with your work, I'll go buy some things."

Watching Sun Qian's departing figure, Chen Yongliang couldn't help but ask, "Sister-in-law, why do I feel like Uncle Sun doesn't really support us selling sweet soup?"

“Everyone has their own ideas, you can’t expect others to think the same way you do, can you?” Wan Qiqi carried a basket on her back and a jar in her arms as she walked forward, looking for a suitable place to set up her stall.

Chen Yongliang picked up the two wooden buckets and followed along, saying, "But I agree with a lot of what you said, sister-in-law!"

Wan Qiqi glanced back at Chen Yongliang and realized that this man was not only talkative, but also stubborn and argumentative. Once he got hold of a point, he would argue with you endlessly.

Whether this kind of persistence is good or bad is hard to say.

The two walked through the crowd and saw many stalls on both sides of the market, selling all sorts of things.

They chose an open space and began their first day of setting up a stall.

A vendor selling handicrafts nearby, noticing they were unfamiliar faces, greeted them, "Little sister, little brother, what do you sell?"

When Chen Yongliang saw someone asking, he immediately introduced, "This is our homemade honey grapefruit tea. It's very sweet. Would you like to buy a serving to try?"

"Made of honey!" The woman looked surprised and peeked inside. "It must be very expensive!"

"It's not expensive at all! It's only three coins a cup, much cheaper than the sweet soup at the dessert shop, and it's made with the best ingredients. Why don't you come and try it?"

Wan Qiqi watched as Chen Yongliang and the woman exchanged questions and answers, and they seemed to be doing business together.

But it was clear that the woman was just curious and had no intention of buying anything. Even though Chen Yongliang talked a lot, the woman just laughed and didn't actually do anything.

At this moment, a well-dressed young man stopped in front of the stall, his eyes fixed on Wan Qiqi for a long time before he slowly asked, "Young lady, what are you selling here?"

Seeing his somewhat lewd smile, Wan Qiqi was reluctant to talk to him, but since he was a customer who had come to inquire, she patiently explained, "This is honey pomelo syrup that I made. Would you like to buy some to try, sir?"

"Sure, give me one." The man was still smiling, his eyes fixed on Wan Qiqi.

Stare my ass! My son is six years old! You're probably just blinded by lust!

Although Wan Qiqi was cursing in her heart, she maintained a fake smile on her face, quickly brewed a cup of honey grapefruit tea, and handed it to the young man.

The other person accepted it with a smile, their fingertips seemingly unconsciously tracing the back of Wan Qiqi's hand before gripping the bamboo cup tightly, taking a sip, and saying, "Not bad, it's good stuff!"

Wan Qiqi responded with a fake smile, then placed the back of his hand, which he had touched, behind her back and wiped it several times on her clothes.

The young man finished his honey grapefruit tea in no time.

"Yongliang, what are you doing? Come and help!" Wan Qiqi shouted.

"Alright, sister-in-law!" Chen Yongliang answered loudly, and quickly ran over, took the bamboo cup from the man's hand, and said with a grin, "Sir, it's three coins a cup, would you like another cup?"

The young man's expression stiffened for a moment, but his gaze remained fixed on Wan Qiqi. "One cup is enough, but I'd like to bring some home. I wonder if you could accompany me to deliver it? It's not far ahead."
