Chapter 776 Court Hearing

Chapter 776 Court Hearing

“Chen Wanshi, a woman who beats the drum is usually punished with a beating. Since you are the wife of County Magistrate Chen, you will be spared this beating. If your accusation is wrong, it is not something that can be resolved with ten strokes of the cane!”

Xie Xing, dressed in official robes, slammed the gavel on the table.

Wan Qiqi bowed slightly and said, "Yes, I understand. I filed a lawsuit against Tang Bingfeng precisely because I have evidence."

Her cold gaze swept over Tang Bingfeng, and she asked in a chilling voice, "May I ask if Mr. Tang saw Wu Gousheng five days ago?"

Tang Bingfeng glanced at Wan Qiqi, then raised his hand to Xie Xing and replied, "My lord, I remember that Wu Gousheng's case has already been judged as a misconduct. How can you tolerate this woman causing trouble here?"

He didn't treat himself as a prisoner at all, and even questioned Xie Xing.

Xie Xing's face was gloomy, and he said coldly, "Tang Bingfeng, this is a courtroom. You should cooperate if you are not guilty. If you are making false accusations, I will punish you accordingly."

Wan Qiqi overheard their conversation and guessed that their cooperation wasn't so friendly and that there were still many conflicts.

She sneered, her eyes turning icy, and said, "Tang Bingfeng, how can you be so sure I'm joking? I remember there were many suspicious points about the corpse, such as the wound on its waist and abdomen!"

"How would I know? I only learned of Wu Gousheng's death through outside sources," Tang Bingfeng said righteously.

He held his right wrist with his left hand, acting as if it were none of his business.

"Wan Qiqi, everyone knows you have a grudge against that brat, but you can't just frame someone because of that!"

"Whether it's a frame-up or not, let's look at the evidence." Wan Qiqi didn't care about Tang Bingfeng's provocation.

She looked at Tang Bingfeng and asked again, "Master Tang, may I ask where you were and what you were doing five days ago at 1-3 PM?"

Tang Bingfeng replied with disdain in his eyes, "I was in my own shop at noon, and the shop assistants can vouch for me."

"Really?" Wan Qiqi realized that Tang Bingfeng was really experienced, lying without any panic.

"Otherwise what?" Tang Bingfeng retorted.

"I have some information, but I don't know if Mr. Tang is aware of it."

Wan Qiqi narrowed her eyes slightly and said, "About five or six days ago, Miss Fang Luxue from Master Tang's family came to me, asking me for help, saying that her mother was imprisoned by you. Is that true?"

"Nonsense. That girl was being willful and wanted to go out to play. I refused, so she said those things." Tang Bingfeng sneered.

"But it was because I heard about this that I asked Wu Gousheng to accompany Fang Luxue to the Tang family to see them, and then Wu Gousheng got into trouble."

Wan Qiqi stared at Tang Bingfeng, waiting for his answer.

"What a joke! The idea that Lu Xue went to you crying is absurd, let alone bringing outsiders to your home. I have never seen Wu Gousheng!" Tang Bingfeng continued to deny it.

"Really? Then, does Master Tang dare to have Xiaoxue'er and Aunt Rong come over to testify that what I said earlier was a lie?" Wan Qiqi smiled.

“They’ve gone to visit relatives and aren’t in Yunhe County these past few days,” Tang Bingfeng replied.

He looked at Wan Qiqi and couldn't help but wonder if the person was in Wan Qiqi's hands.

But if Wu Gousheng was in Wan Qiqi's hands, how could Wan Qiqi not care about his disappearance? Only now is she asking herself this question.

If Tang Rong is really in Wan Qiqi's hands, she should have filed a complaint against herself long ago.

But in the past few days, he had people keep an eye on the road out of Yunhe County, as well as the counties and prefectures near Yunhe County, but he still hadn't seen Tang Rong.

Where did the person go?

Tang Bingfeng was somewhat confused and vaguely uneasy.

“Master Tang cannot hand over Xiao Xue’er, but Qiqi has someone who can testify that Wu Gousheng went to the Tang family that day and had a conflict with Master Tang.” Wan Qiqi smiled.

Tang Bingfeng's face turned cold, and he said, "I've never seen him. You're just paying someone to frame me."

"Whether it's a frame-up or not, we need to bring the witnesses up first, Lord Xie, don't you agree?" Wan Qiqi looked at Xie Xing.

Xie Xing did not deny it, and slammed his hand on the table, saying, "Bring witnesses!"

A beggar and two servants dressed as servants of the Tang family were brought in and made to kneel in front of Xie Xing's shop.

"Who are you? What do you know? Tell us the truth!" Xie Xing said coldly.

The beggar hurriedly said, "Sir... I am a beggar from Hefeng Town. Five days ago, I passed by the Tang family and saw Master Tang leading a group of people beating a man. He even stabbed the man, and blood was flowing everywhere. It was terrifying!"

"Don't talk nonsense, I never did it!" Tang Bingfeng retorted coldly.

“Master Tang, don’t worry, there are two more people. You wouldn’t say you don’t know these two people, would you?” Wan Qiqi asked softly.

Tang Bingfeng glanced at the two kneeling men on the ground and snorted coldly, "I recognize them, they are my servants."

"It's good that Master Tang doesn't deny it." Wan Qiqi looked at the servant and said, "Tell me what Master Tang did that day."

"I...I..." The servant stammered for a long time, unable to utter a complete sentence.

Seeing this, another servant said, "My lord, spare my life! I only helped the master throw the person into the mass grave. I didn't do anything else. I didn't kill anyone. Please spare my life!"

Tang Bingfeng's face was extremely gloomy. He said coldly, "Lord Xie, do not believe Wan Qiqi. She is a vicious woman with a wicked heart. She must have bribed the two of them to make them say such things!"

Wan Qiqi didn't argue, but looked at Xie Xing, wanting to see how he planned to handle the situation.

Xie Xing felt like he was sitting on pins and needles.

Judging from Wan Qiqi's expression, he guessed that she probably had a backup plan, and if he helped Tang Bingfeng, the consequences would be unimaginable.

However, Tang Bingfeng possessed evidence that he had contacted Tang Qiwen to deal with Fang Ziming.

If these things are revealed, he will lose his official position, face punishment from the imperial court, and possibly even be exiled.
