Chapter 25 Catching the Thief
"Qiqi made all of this, please sit down!" Madam Wang couldn't hide her joy.
Wan Qiqi served the rice and placed it in front of everyone, who were once again speechless with astonishment.
“This… brown rice…” Chen Yongliang was also speechless.
I don't know how long it's been since I had a meal like this!
"You need to eat well to have the energy to work." Wan Qiqi sat down, put a piece of meat on Wang's plate, and then ate by herself.
Seeing this, the others, not wanting Wan Qiqi to eat alone, immediately started eating.
After finishing his meal, Chen Yongliang patted his belly, looking satisfied. "Burp~ So full~ So delicious!"
Wan Qiqi smiled faintly.
How could they not be full? She cooked two or three days' worth of their rations and then secretly made up for it.
She also exchanged the seasonings at the mall for her stir-fries, so the taste was naturally better than usual!
"Qiqi's cooking is really good!" Wang smiled and ate with great satisfaction.
"Yes, sister-in-law's cooking is really good, even better than my wife's!" Chen Yongxing couldn't help but praise her as well.
Hearing everyone's praise for Wan Qiqi, Li Chongniang felt a little uncomfortable.

After the meal, Wang took the initiative to leave with the two children and Li Chongniang, and only then did the three brothers sit down.

Chen Yongxing spoke first: "Sister-in-law, what are we going to do tonight?"
Wan Qiqi's lips curled into a smile, and she uttered two words: "Catch the thief!"
Chen Yongxing's expression changed. "What thief are you catching?"
Then, he asked himself and answered, "With just a few of us catching grain thieves?"
Suspicious gazes lingered on Wan Qiqi.
The three brothers were men after all. Although they were not as strong as the soldiers, they were still quite strong. Their eldest sister-in-law had small arms and legs, and she was afraid that she would be injured by the thieves, let alone catch them.
Wan Qiqi shook her head helplessly, "Outsmart them." She felt that the three brothers' idea of resolving the issue by force was not unacceptable, but it was too dangerous.
If you decide to do something, you must do it properly; any injury to anyone is a failure.
The three brothers were amazed by Wan Qiqi's confident demeanor; she was like a completely different person!
Wan Qiqi glanced at it twice and smiled faintly, "Who knows, maybe they're not bandits, but village thieves?"
"Sister-in-law, you mean—"
Wan Qiqi immediately made a gesture to stop Chen Yongliang, "I'm just guessing, I can't be sure. We'll talk about everything after tonight."
Chen Yongliang nodded obediently.
Night fell quietly, and the sky was covered with a layer of dark clouds.
The wind blew against the broken windowsill, sending in gusts of cold air.
Chen Yongnian squatted under the windowsill, looking out through the hole in the window, and occasionally glancing back at the bed.
Wan Qiqi was intrigued by Chen Yongnian's actions and found them amusing.
Her only pleasure after get off work in modern times is her mobile phone. Like many others, she can't live without it. But the two days she spent in Lotus Village gave her a new experience.
Although they are just trivial matters concerning family life, they are all about striving for a better life.
Seeing the hardships of those impoverished times made her realize how fortunate she had been before.
She used to have everything, yet she was alone. Now she has nothing but family and children.
While Wan Qiqi was distracted, she heard light footsteps approaching from outside the courtyard.
Chen Yongnian became alert, picked up a thick wooden stick from the side of his feet, and waited for an opportunity to strike.
Wan Qiqi hurriedly said, "Put down the stick and open the door!"
Chen Yongnian was taken aback, then moved towards the door with the stick in his arms.
The door opened, and Chen Yongxing rushed in, hugging his arms and shivering for a while. "It's so cold outside. Is he not coming?"
He felt like the wind was going to blow him silly!
The wind is so strong, almost like before the last flood. I wonder how many days this rain will last.
Wan Qiqi frowned as she looked out the window. She hadn't expected that the sun would shine so brightly during the day, but that a strong wind would howl at night.
The weather suddenly changed, and there was a sudden commotion outside the courtyard. Wan Qiqi quickly extinguished the oil lamp.
"Father, does the Chen family really have a lot of grain? Didn't everyone say that the eldest daughter-in-law of the Chen family borrowed grain?"
"What do you know? Do you think I don't know who she is? She's definitely keeping all the good stuff!"
"If she had anything good, why would she need to borrow grain from her parents' home and get pushed into the water?"
"Are you determined to argue with your father? Didn't you see how arrogant she was during the day? There wasn't just meat in her basket, there were also new clothes for the children."
"What's wrong with new clothes?"
"You spendthrift son, you don't know how expensive cloth is now that you're not in charge of the household! Those few clothes in her basket are worth at least several strings of cash. Only these penniless Chen family members don't know their value!"
The two brothers turned to look at Wan Qiqi simultaneously, as if to confirm whether it was true or not.
Wan Qiqi couldn't help but think to herself, "Thank you both!" But she put on a smile and pretended nothing was wrong.
Actually, the room was pitch black. The two brothers couldn't see Wan Qiqi, and Wan Qiqi couldn't see the two brothers either. They relied entirely on their senses.
The father and son outside the door continued their discussion, standing at the doorway.
"Father, the eldest daughter-in-law of the Chen family has fair skin and tender flesh, and so much private money. Why don't I trick her into coming here, and we can enjoy ourselves together..." The young man outside the door spoke with increasing lewdness. "Ouch, Father, why are you hitting me?"
