Chapter 602 Winning Over Yao Jinniang
The rain has stopped and the sky is clear.
After the sun shower, a rainbow suddenly appeared on the horizon.
To the ancients, this was a seven-colored glow, signifying good things to come; it was an auspicious omen.
As soon as the rain stopped, the street vendors immediately brought out their tables and chairs and continued operating, hoping to earn more money after the rain.
Yao Jinniang stopped beside the noodle stall, folded her umbrella, and stood to the side, reaching out to help the hunchbacked man move tables and chairs.
"Jinniang, you're back?" The hunchbacked man smiled and put the bench down for Yao Jinniang to handle.
In no time, Yao Jinniang had arranged the tables and chairs neatly.
It had just rained, the ground was wet, and there were few pedestrians. The noodle stall didn't get any customers for a while.
Yao Jinniang sat to the side and saw her father-in-law still busy inside. She called out, "Father, come and rest. We can continue working when the guests arrive. It's alright."
"good."
Although the hunchbacked man agreed, he didn't stop and continued working in the small kitchen.
After a while, he came out from inside, carrying a plate of pastries, and placed it on the table in front of Yao Jinniang.
"Try it, it's made exactly as you said." The hunchbacked man sat down, a bright smile on his face and a hint of anticipation in his eyes.
Yao Jinniang glanced down at the pastries, then looked up at the hunchbacked man, a hint of worry in her eyes. "Didn't you say you'd wait for me to come back and make them? You can just make the noodles."
“You must be tired out here. I used to know how to make these pastries. I even taught you how!” The hunchbacked man sighed. “Alas, I’m getting old. My skills aren’t as good as they used to be. When I was young, these pastries were very popular!”
“I know, you taught me too.” Yao Jinniang lowered her head, her eyes slightly dimmed.
Back then, her family only doted on her younger brother, and she almost fainted from hunger. Fortunately, she met her father-in-law, who not only provided her with food but also taught her cooking skills and facilitated her marriage to her husband.
Unfortunately, her husband passed away early, leaving her and her father-in-law alone.
After her husband passed away, her father-in-law's hair turned white almost overnight, his condition deteriorated significantly, and his memory gradually declined.
Her father-in-law is not only her relative but also her benefactor, freeing her from a life of exploitation; therefore, she now only wants to be a free person and take good care of her father-in-law.
"Jinniang, there's something I want to tell you."
The hunchbacked man's solemn demeanor startled Yao Jinniang, and she had a premonition that her father-in-law would bring up Xinglong Restaurant again.
“Jinniang, although I have a bad memory, I do remember one thing: Manager Wan of Xinglong Restaurant has come to see you many times. Is he trying to get you to work at Xinglong Restaurant?” the hunchbacked man asked.
Yao Jinniang didn't want to deceive her father-in-law, so she nodded.
"Jinniang, you really don't need to worry about me. I can manage the noodle stall and take care of myself. You should think about your future and find a stable job so I can rest easy..."
The hunchbacked man put his words into words, and Yao Jinniang was momentarily at a loss for words.
During this time, she also paid attention to Wan Qiqi, and even went to the scene when she confronted Zuijianglou.
No matter how you look at it, Wan Qiqi is a qualified boss, a good businesswoman, and a strong woman.
Of all the women she had ever met, none had ever impressed her as much as Wan Qiqi, yet also frightened her.
Just then, a customer arrived at the noodle stall.
"Father, I will think carefully about what you said."
Yao Jinniang got up, intending to ask the guests what they wanted to eat, but was stopped by the hunchbacked man.
"I'll take care of the stall, you sit and rest."
After finishing his sentence, the hunchbacked man walked over to the seated guest and asked with a smile.
Upon seeing this, Yao Jinniang lowered her head.
Compared to the past, my father-in-law's memory has improved recently; he doesn't seem as forgetful, and his condition appears to be getting better.
She was afraid the other person was faking it to put her at ease, but memories can't be faked.
"Excuse me, may I sit here?"
A clear, crisp female voice came from behind.
Yao Jinniang turned around, and a beautiful figure quietly came into view, followed by a bright smile.
"Yes...yes."
Yao Jinniang quickly stood up and gave up her seat.
Wan Qiqi placed her hand on Yao Jinniang's shoulder and gently pressed it down. "Sit down. There's no need to be so formal. I don't care about those formalities, and I'm here to see you."
Yao Jinniang was stunned, not expecting Wan Qiqi to be so direct, and sat down blankly.
She gave an awkward smile. "Manager Wan, what would you like to eat? I'll make it for you."
Wan Qiqi didn't answer, staring at the cold pastries on the table. She reached out to take them, but Yao Jinniang stopped her.
"Manager Wan, this is already cold. If you want to eat it, I'll make it for you again."
"good!"
Wan Qiqi's "okay" caught Yao Jinniang off guard. She thought the other party would refuse, but the other party was not polite at all.
Yao Jinniang looked up at the kitchen and said, "It might take about fifteen minutes."
"Okay," Wan Qiqi replied as before.
Wan Qiqi came here for Yao Jinniang, and she would be there for her no matter how long it took.
Fifteen minutes later, the steaming hot pastries were placed on the table.
Wan Qiqi picked one up, took a bite, and a look of amazement flashed in her eyes.
This is actually just an ordinary pastry, sold everywhere, but Yao Jinniang's version is more delicious than those from other places.
Thus, Wan Qiqi confirmed the answer in her heart.
"Jinniang, I've come today for the same reason: I'd like to invite you to join Xinglong Restaurant and be in charge of one type of dim sum."
Yao Jinniang was about to speak when Wan Qiqi stopped her.
"Let me finish speaking before you answer." Wan Qiqi put down the pastry in her hand and said seriously, "You were at Xinglong Restaurant the day Zuijianglou came to confront us, right?"
