Chapter 499 The School Opens

Chapter 499 The School Opens

After the house is renovated, it's basically ready to start teaching.

Zhong Le shared her teaching plan with Wan Qiqi, and once the plan was approved, she began to teach formally.

Among girls who want to study, many know about this; some want to try it, while others are observing.

Many more people are deterred by their parents' opposition.

Even if they say they won't charge Xiufei, who can be sure they really won't charge a single penny?

In reality, they were more afraid that this was just a ruse to deceive their daughter and then turn against them.

Although girls are not as valuable as boys, if they can find a wealthy family after they grow up to support their parents' family, it's not a bad deal.

People are often like this: they want something for nothing, but when it actually falls from the sky, they become extremely wary, afraid of a trap.

However, this did not have much impact on the girls' school.

Even with only five or six students, Ms. Zhong Le maintained her teaching methods and was able to teach even more effectively.

After finishing her business at the restaurant, Wan Qiqi came to the school to check on the students' learning progress.

Wu Gousheng followed beside Wan Qiqi, looking at the scene inside, and couldn't help but sigh, "Sister Qi, if word got out that women can sit in a school and study, I'm afraid no one would believe it!"

“If we publicize it, I’m afraid I won’t be able to keep it open for long.” Wan Qiqi glanced at him and said in a low voice, “Although the court has no explicit prohibition against opening girls’ schools, there is always some apprehension about girls’ education. If we make too much noise, it might attract envy.”

"What are you envious of? We didn't even receive any money, and we still lost so much money inside and out." Wu Gousheng said, somewhat puzzled.

“This matter cannot be explained in just a few words.” Wan Qiqi sighed, pondered for a while, and said, “Take Hefeng Academy for example. If the male students knew that there was also a girls’ school where they could study without paying tuition, would they think it was fair?”

“But men can take the imperial examinations and become officials, while women cannot. Isn’t that unfair? Why bother with this?” Wu Gousheng never dreamed that he would one day be talking about fairness in the issue of men and women.

In the past, all we knew was that men were superior to women, and that men were born to be of a higher status; there was never any fairness to speak of.

But at that moment, he said those words unconsciously.

Wan Qiqi looked at Wu Gousheng and suddenly smiled.

Wu Gousheng looked a little confused. "Sister Qi, what are you laughing at?"

"It's nothing, I just think you've grown up!" Wan Qiqi smiled and patted Wu Gousheng's shoulder, in a slightly better mood.

She walked out from under the eaves, sat on a stone bench in the courtyard, and closed her eyes to enjoy the sunshine.

Wu Gousheng's change in thinking made her realize that as long as you work hard, things really can change.

Because of his influence, Wu Gousheng's thinking has been subtly changed, and he is no longer the feudal and corrupt person he once was.

Once there's one, there will be a second, a third, a fourth...

"Clang~ Clang~ Clang~" Three bells rang, signaling the end of the class inside.

The girls came out laughing, sharing what they had just learned and what they still didn't quite understand.

As soon as they came out, they saw the noble ladies sitting in the courtyard, and they immediately became more reserved.

Mr. Zhong Le told them that they were able to study here entirely because of the financial support of a lady.

Looking at the people sitting in the courtyard, they realized that these might be the people Mr. Zhong Le had been talking about.

Luo Kui recognized Wan Qiqi and quickly ran to her side, greeting her with a smile, "Manager Wan, you've arrived?"

"You used to call me 'big sister,' why are you changing your address now?" Wan Qiqi raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile.

Luo Kui tapped her two index fingers together, and said apologetically, "I didn't know your identity before, nor did I know that you were the owner of this house. I was a bit presumptuous."

When the other girls heard the words "owner of the house," they immediately looked over, including the girl who had been watching from the doorway last time.

One of the bolder ones stepped forward and asked, "Beautiful lady, are you the owner of this house?"

Before Wan Qiqi could answer, Zhong Le came out and explained, "This is the owner of the house and the owner of this school. You can call her Sister Wan."

This name was discussed between Wan Qiqi and Zhong Le.

She didn't like being called "Miss" or "Mrs.", nor did she want these children to call her "Manager Wan" like they did in the restaurant.

Calling her "Auntie" makes her look old, since this body is only 22 years old. So calling her "Sister" is the most appropriate.

It feels friendly without being too awkward.

The six girls shouted in unison, "Sister Wan!"

Wan Qiqi was quite happy to hear this and said with a smile, "In the school, you need to listen to Mr. Zhong and be careful with your words and actions; but outside, I hope you will still stay true to yourselves, don't let rules and regulations bind you, and be your most authentic selves."

Upon hearing this, some people began to ask questions.

"Sister Wan, can I play in the water outside?"

"Yes, but you must be careful. It's not worth losing your life if you fall into the water."

"Can I climb the tree to pick fruit?"

"Sure, same to you. Just be careful. Whatever you do, safety should always be your top priority."

"If a boy bullies me, can I fight back?"

"Yes, but you need to ensure your own safety, rather than fighting back and ending up at a greater disadvantage."

"But my family prefers boys, they don't like us."

Why try to please others? Just like yourself, isn't that enough? We're not born to please others, but to live authentically. Only by loving yourself can you earn the liking and respect of others!

The girls were a little confused and didn't quite understand.
