Chapter 622 The Old Man's Preferences

Chapter 622 The Old Man's Preferences

After the competition.

Day 1.

Wan Qiqi discussed the desserts with Yao Jinniang and Feng Qing, deciding which desserts would be most suitable for the birthday banquet.

Yao Jinniang and Feng Qing both agreed to choose the one that best represents Xinglong Restaurant, so that everyone would think of Xinglong Restaurant as soon as they see it.

Wan Qiqi stated that this birthday banquet should focus on Mr. Xiao, and all dishes should be prepared according to his taste.

The other guests were there to attend Mr. Xiao's banquet, and they should eat whatever the host provided.

The next day.

Wan Qiqi and the two improved the pastries, making them more suitable for a large family like the Xiao family.

Even though Wan Qiqi asked Wu Gousheng to inquire about Old Master Xiao's tastes, she couldn't find out.

Chun Chang disdained communicating with Xinglong Restaurant; Bafang Laike was unaware; Kelaiju knew, but wanted the owner to ask them himself, not wanting to tell anyone else.

Wan Qiqi was speechless and helpless, and prepared to meet with guests at the guesthouse.

It's a good opportunity to discuss pairing the two snacks and drinks to achieve the best flavor.

As soon as Wan Qiqi stepped out of the restaurant, she heard someone calling her from behind.

"Wan Qiqi, where are you going?"

A lazy yet magnetic voice reached Wan Qiqi's ears, and even without turning around, she knew who it was.

If it were someone else, she might have pretended not to hear and left.

But Xiao Huai was exactly what she wanted, so naturally she wouldn't leave.

"Go to Kelaiju and ask them what kind of wine they're planning to make, and also ask about Old Master Xiao's taste," Wan Qiqi replied with a smile as she turned around.

The former is to let the other party know her efforts in preparing for the birthday banquet; the latter is to see if this person will kindly mention Old Master Xiao's preferences.

If Xiao Huai truly had filial piety, he shouldn't have joked about things that would please Old Master Xiao.

"Wen Ke Lai Ju? Shouldn't we, his children, be the ones who know my father best?" Xiao Huai asked seriously, a hint of doubt in his eyes.

"That's hard to say. After all, you don't eat at home often, so the person who knows you best is probably your housekeeper." Wan Qiqi smiled, seemingly unconcerned that saying this might offend Xiao Huai.

Xiao Huai didn't get angry; instead, his eyes widened as he stared at Wan Qiqi.

After a long pause, he suddenly smiled and said, "Then how do you know I won't ask around and buy food for the old man?"

Wan Qiqi raised an eyebrow, shrugged, and walked towards Xiao Huai, inviting him into the restaurant.

"Young Master Xiao, what would you like to eat today? I don't have time to cook, I have to prepare for the birthday banquet." Wan Qiqi pointed this out, not expecting Xiao Huai to cause trouble again.

If the other party really wants to cause trouble, there's nothing she can do, since she can't afford to offend the Xiao family right now.

"I won't sit down today. I'll buy some food to take back to my grandfather." Xiao Huai smiled and walked to the counter, asking Zhou Youcai to bring out the bamboo skewers for ordering.

He carefully flipped through the bamboo skewers, as if he were really choosing.

After a while, he placed six bamboo skewers on the counter. "These six, plus double-skin milk and peach blossom pastry, to go."

Wan Qiqi glanced at the counter, put away the skewer, and handed it to Chen Sanyuan, "Go, tell the kitchen to make it as if it were for delivery."

Chen Sanyuan paused for a moment, then replied, "Okay."

Wan Qiqi noted down what Xiao Huai had ordered, led Xiao Huai to sit down in an empty seat, and had tea and snacks served.

As she poured the tea, she asked, "Third Young Master, does your father have a sensitive stomach?"

Xiao Huai was taken aback, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. He chuckled, picked up the tea he had just poured, and took a sip. "You've asked so many questions, hoping to get information out of me?"

"Didn't you already tell me?" Wan Qiqi sat down boldly and poured herself another cup of tea. "If you have a sensitive stomach, you should eat a light diet, avoid spicy, greasy, raw or cold foods, eat small meals frequently, and it's best not to eat too much at night."

"Are you a doctor?"

Xiao Huai's question stunned Wan Qiqi.

"I have a doctor in my family who knows more than you. You just need to focus on the birthday banquet." Xiao Huai's voice was gentler than before.

"Yes, I overstepped my bounds!" Wan Qiqi laughed self-deprecatingly.

What am I doing? Why am I meddling in other people's business?

Knowing what to pay attention to regarding the other person's diet makes it easier to prepare a banquet.

But would the other party really be that kind?

A light diet is not just for people with poor digestion.

Xiao Huai ordered double-skin milk pudding and peach blossom pastry, which shows that Old Master Xiao has no aversion to these foods and can eat them.

The fact that a traditional Chinese medicine doctor was kept at home indicates that Mr. Xiao might fall ill at any time, hence the need to have a doctor at home.

Although the Xiao family children often cause trouble outside, they seem to be trying to avoid getting angry with Old Master Xiao.

In conclusion, Wan Qiqi suspects that Grandpa Xiao's problem is not gastrointestinal issues, but rather a condition similar to high blood pressure.

Seeing the wicked smile on Xiao Huai's face, tinged with a hint of mockery, she became even more certain of her guess.

This person is so naive!

Soon after, the dishes Xiao Huai ordered were ready, and a servant immediately came to collect the food box.

Xiao Huai waved his folding fan and left Xinglong Restaurant in a good mood.

"Young master, where do we go next?" the servant asked.

"While the food is still hot, let's head back to the Xiao residence!"

Xiao Huai's words were half true and half false, but they were also genuinely kind to Old Master Xiao.

The Xiao family's backyard.

The sunlight slanted across the pond, making the lake water sparkle.

Grandpa Xiao stood by the pool, scattering fish food into it, watching the fish scramble for it.

He sighed, a hint of desolation in his eyes.

"Master, the Third Young Master has arrived, bringing food."

When Old Master Xiao heard the butler's voice, he turned around and saw Xiao Huai standing by a stone table not far away, smiling and waving at him. There were also several food boxes on the table.

He was stunned for a moment.
