Chapter 567 Street-side Noodle Shop

"It's alright. The first time I ate here, it tasted the best. The second time, it didn't seem as good as the first time," Wu Gousheng replied earnestly.

Wan Qiqi nodded and said, "Because the people who made the noodles were different each time, but the soup sauce for the noodles was made by the same person."

"You can taste the difference?" Wu Gousheng looked somewhat surprised.

Before Wan Qiqi could answer, the hunchbacked man came out with two bowls of noodles, smiling and saying, "Sorry to keep you waiting, gentlemen. I added extra ingredients for you. Please try them and see if they suit your taste. If not, I'll make you some more."

"No need, your noodles are delicious, Uncle, you can be more confident," Wan Qiqi said with a smile, stirring the noodles in her bowl a few times, taking a slurp, and praising, "Delicious!"

Hearing the praise, the hunchbacked man's smile grew even brighter, and he said, "I'm not good enough yet. When my daughter-in-law comes back next time, I'll have her cook for you. I guarantee you'll want to eat it again and again."

Wu Gousheng wanted to say that they had eaten there, but they had never seen the fat chef in person.

Wan Qiqi, however, could understand.

After the loss of his wife and children, he was bound to be mentally distraught. Fortunately, his daughter-in-law was willing to stay and take care of the family, which helped to stabilize the household.

She looked up and asked again, "Your daughter-in-law went out to work again? Are you watching the stall?"

"Yes! She always worked very hard and endured a lot of hardship." The hunchbacked man said, his eyes welling up with tears. He sighed and said, "It's a pity! My son died young, and the two of them didn't leave behind any children. But it's probably for the best. If she were to meet a good family, she would have no worries."

Wan Qiqi could tell that the hunchbacked man genuinely wanted his daughter-in-law to be well.

She tilted her head and said, "Uncle, I run a business and need someone who can cook. If your daughter-in-law comes back, you might as well ask her if she has any ideas."

“Oh, okay, I’ll talk to her when she gets back,” the hunchbacked man replied.

Wu Gousheng watched, sighed, and lowered his head to eat his noodles.
