Chapter 38 Watching Snow in a Cave

Chapter 38 Watching Snow in a Cave

Gu Zheng listened to the jumping sounds behind him and carefully checked the safety of his feet.

In places where the snow is deep, every step is like clearing a minefield, and no one knows whether there is soft grass or sharp stones underneath.

The two walked very slowly, and the kitten was always attracted by the snow around it. The soft snow on the branches fluttered down when blown by the breeze, and the kitten under the tree would dance along.

If the tree trunk was covered with snow, she would stop and draw on it.

Sometimes it’s a cat head, and sometimes there’s a word “king” on the forehead.

The sun rose quickly as they played. He Jing suddenly exclaimed softly. She gently pulled Gu Zheng's tail, "Look! Are there footprints there?!"

Gu Zheng's expression froze for a moment, and he swung his tail uncomfortably. "Well, animals here will come out to move around after the sun comes out. Judging from the footprints, they look like snow rabbits."

"Snow rabbit?"

"Their entire bodies are snow-white, and their pupils are also grayish-white, making them difficult to spot in the snow."

After hearing this, He Jing felt that the snow under his feet was not snow at all, as if there was a snow rabbit hiding somewhere!

After searching carefully for a while, I found nothing.

The two continued to walk down the mountain. Light snow began to fall from the sky, gently and softly. The kitten was very excited and raised its face, wishing it could open its mouth to catch the snow!

But after a while, I felt a little wet.

She shook her hair uncomfortably, trying to dry it>﹏<

Gu Zheng suddenly spoke up, "There's a cave not far ahead. Let's pick up some firewood and wait for the snow to stop before we continue."

Then he waved his big hand and the things covered under the snow were revealed. He Jing shrugged and nodded. Now she was quiet and felt that the snow was cold. She stopped pushing the snow and followed the tiger's butt to pick it up.

The cave soon appeared in front of us. In front of the cave stood a yellow pine tree, which firmly blocked the wind and snow.

Gu Zheng went in first and made sure there was no scent of other animals before calling He Jing in.

He Jing helped put the firewood in place and threw in two flints, and the orange-yellow flames illuminated the cave.

The cave is not big, but it is much warmer than outside, the ground is dry, and there is a supply box in the corner!

He Jing ran over and opened it in surprise, and found a soft quilt inside!

There is a big cat head printed on the quilt!

"Gu Zheng! Look?!"

Tiger was marking the entrance to the cave. He looked up at the sound. The firelight reflected in his eyes, revealing a smile. "Do you like it?"

"I like it! Was this also prepared by Aunt Wenqing?"

Gu Zheng remained silent.

He Jing smiled and chose a place to spread the quilt, then dragged a small blanket to the entrance of the cave.

She pulled Gu Zheng to sit down together, spread out the blanket and wrapped it around them, looking at the scenery outside.

From this angle, you can vaguely see the glacier in the distance, but most of it is blocked by the pine trees in front of the cave. Occasionally, there is a breeze, but the yellow pines dissipate it without swaying. When the wind blows in front of the kitten, it is more like a gentle caress than a wind.

She looked into the distance and felt it was boundless. The white of the earth and the white of the sky merged into one. Suddenly, she felt a little dizzy and quickly looked back at the tree in front of her. From this angle, she could just see the original color of the tree covered with snow.

Rich green.

Provides a refuge for the eyes.

The snow fell for a long time and didn't stop until mid-afternoon.

They were close to the plains, and when the snow stopped, the woods began to come alive.

Birds flew by in the sky, like the vultures before, chirping from time to time, choosing today's dinner.

Listening to the noisy sounds around him, He Jing suddenly asked, "Are there bears around here? Penguins?"

"Yes."

"So can we beat the bear?"

"Yes, but try to avoid them. They are more suitable for fighting in the snow."

The kitten nodded, gnashing its teeth with a small dried fish in its mouth. "Should we go find something to eat?"

The environment here seems to be a bit worse. When it snows, we have to stay in the cave. I’m afraid the supply won’t be enough after a long time!

Stock up on food while the weather is nice.

Gu Zheng looked at the half-rising sun outside and asked, "Do you want to stay here or go out and take a look?"

The kitten followed decisively, "Together, together!"

"Will we encounter snow rabbits?"

"Maybe."

"What else?"

"If we're nearby, there are snow wolves, snow deer, and snow foxes. There might even be wild boars and pheasants crossing the mountain."

"Then we still have a lot of choices!" He Jing thought optimistically.

"Um."

A small set of footprints appeared on the ground. He Jing leaned forward and tried to distinguish them. He then smelled them carefully, but he couldn't tell them apart.

"What's this?"

Gu Zheng took a look and sniffed, "Snow rabbit." Then he pricked up his ears and listened for a while.

"Not far yet."

He Jing subconsciously lowered his body and pricked up his ears to listen carefully. His eyes lit up. It seemed that there really was a sound, a very small sound of stepping on snow!

The sound was jumping, just behind the pine tree a few meters away!

She looked at Gu Zheng with a questioning look, and Gu Zheng nodded.

The cat and the tiger slowly raised their feet and landed them on the ground as if in super slow motion, approaching silently.

There seemed to be a ball of snow moving behind the tree. He Jing blinked silently and refocused. Before he could see clearly, Gu Zheng pounced on him!

Hit the target with one strike!

Only after Gu Zheng picked up the rabbit did He Jing see its full appearance! Wow!

This rabbit looks like it's taking good care of itself. Pulled out of the snow, it's even bigger than He Jing!

What a giant rabbit!

Shouldn't such a small paw print belong to a rabbit the size of a palm?

He Jing touched and pulled the rabbit in surprise. It was very good and solid.

The rabbit's blood dyed the snow on the ground red. Gu Zheng didn't continue, dragging the bled rabbit back, "We have to put it back, otherwise it will be easily targeted by other animals."

We soon returned to the cave. The firewood was still burning and it was warm.

"Does this firewood have to be kept burning?"

"Well, it can prevent wild animals from coming in."

"Will we stay here long?"

"It's up to you if you want to, but you have to stay tonight. It's going to be cold after the sun goes down. We can find another cave after that."

He Jing nodded, "When are we going back?"

Gu Zheng was silent for a moment, thinking of the kitten's situation. "Your transformation period is longer than initially predicted. The higher the level of your mental strength, the longer the transformation period will be. There's nothing to worry about. However, no matter how long it takes, you have to wait until the transformation period is over before you can leave."

"Hmm..." He Jing seemed to understand, "But didn't you say that people are not allowed to transform here?"

"You're different. You've just transformed, and you're not restricted by this place." Gu Zheng touched the kitten's ears. "If you feel hot all over or your joints ache, be sure to tell me. If I'm not with you, then go back to our base, light a fire, and cover yourself with clothes."

He Jing nodded seriously.

Gu Zheng rubbed the cat's head and restrained himself and withdrew his hand.

Occasionally, the sound of crackling fire could be heard in the quiet cave, and the aroma of meat soon filled the air. He handed the roasted meat to He Jing, and at He Jing's urging, he also ate a little.

Gu Zheng didn't eat much, just two slices, and he would refuse to eat any more if asked.

After eating, He Jing felt warm and his mouth was no longer greedy.
