Chapter 9 Beating the Black Bear
The meat was quickly grilled, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. He Jing ate the meat in his hand, thinking about how quickly Gu Zheng cleaned up the mess last night. He felt that the slices he had now were not enough to fill his teeth, so he asked curiously, "Are you full?"
"Yeah." Gu Zheng paused and continued, "I just ate."
He Jing was puzzled. The supplements and biscuits in his backpack were still there. What did he eat? Suddenly, an idea flashed in his mind. He remembered the smell he had just smelled on Gu Zheng. It seemed that he was not mistaken. It was really the smell of blood.
It turned out that this pig was roasted specially for her.
That’s right, if I don’t eat raw meat, do the locals eat it too?
He Jing's mind flashed with the image of himself eating raw meat. He felt a little overwhelmed, and the speed of his mouth slowed down. The meat in his hand no longer tasted good.
Gu Zheng noticed her change and didn't say much. He just asked after she finished eating, "Do you want to eat more?"
"No... I'm full." After saying that, he put down the leaf in his hand and walked to the side. He opened a strawberry-flavored supplement and held it to his lips, drinking it in sips.
Gu Zheng finished the rest in silence.
"High-level individuals usually undergo wilderness survival training before transformation. Learning how to catch prey and fill their stomachs in the wild is an essential skill."
He Jing listened to Gu Zheng's words and nodded.
Xiao He understood very well. Xiao He also knew that if he hadn't been at the training ground, or if he hadn't met Gu Zheng, he might not even be able to catch any prey, and might even become prey to other animals. If it weren't for the supplies they sent him, he might end up...
She didn't think there was anything wrong with the current environment, nor did she think it was terrible for Gu Zheng to eat raw meat. It was just that as a modern person in the 21st century, she couldn't change her mindset all of a sudden.
"Let's go, we're about to set off." Gu Zheng pulled out a bag from somewhere and hung it on his back.
"What is this...?" (O_O)
"We might need the airdropped supplies later."
"Do I still need to bring this backpack?" He Jing pointed to his backpack.
"Put it here for now."
He Jing returned to the tree with the backpack in his mouth, stuffed his clothes into it, hid the bag deeper, covered it with leaves, then jumped down and followed Gu Zheng.
Gu Zheng didn't say where he was going, and He Jing didn't ask.
The two walked out of the bear poison fruit forest and passed through the camphor tree forest. Perhaps because of the presence of tigers, they did not encounter any small animals along the way.
He Jing was running around bored, when suddenly Gu Zheng stopped and stood sideways in front of the kitten.
He Jing was confused, "What's wrong?"
"There's a sound." Gu Zheng pricked up his ears and sniffed carefully. "It's a bear." The animal form of Chen Peng, the head of the Sixth Department, is a bear.
When He Jing heard it, he held his breath and pricked up his ears to listen. It seemed like... there was some sound, but the kitten couldn't hear it clearly.
The sound came from not far ahead, and a cat and a tiger quietly approached. A cave gradually appeared in front of them. The stone blocking the cave entrance was trembling slightly, as if something was colliding inside.
The stone was a little loose, and some small gravel fell off.
Suddenly, Gu Zheng quickly turned around and said to He Jing, "Hide!" Then he hung the bag on her, raised his hand, picked up the kitten and threw it in the direction it came from.
There was a loud noise behind me, and the cave entrance collapsed.
He Jing quickly hugged his backpack and landed on the ground. Then, without looking back, he dragged his backpack towards an inconspicuous camphor tree and quickly climbed up to hide.
He Jing held his breath tightly, his heart beating wildly, and quietly pulled aside the leaves in front of him to look over.
What came into view was a huge black bear, even bigger than a tiger, rushing out of the cave accompanied by gravel and loud noises.
It was Chen Peng who had completely transformed into a beast. He had lost his mind and was roaring as he pounced on the tiger in front of him.
Gu Zheng quickly dodged, "Chen Peng?!"
The black bear didn't respond and turned around and rushed over again. Without any further ado, the tiger and the bear started fighting quickly.
The black bear is bigger, but the tiger is stronger and more flexible, so the two are in a stalemate for a while.
The black bear gradually became impatient, its fur all standing up, and it stood upright and roared! Gu Zheng was also watching the front paws gather strength, his eyes gradually turning dark blue.
The black bear suddenly pounced and slapped the tiger with its paw. The tiger dodged sideways and grabbed the tiger's shoulder. The sharp claws instantly cut through a large area of fur, but were then thrown away by the black bear's arms, which swung violently in pain.
"Bang!" With a loud bang, it hit the stone wall outside the cave.
Gu Zheng seemed to feel nothing and immediately turned over.
The black bear's roars echoed in the forest, and it continued to pounce on him, waving its hands. Seeing the bear's paw coming in front of him, Gu Zheng rolled sideways to avoid the attack. He hooked the bear's injured shoulder again with his backhand, bit the black bear's neck, and smashed it hard against the stone wall.
"BOOM!!" The cave shook! Rocks flew everywhere!
The black bear couldn't even make a sound the moment it landed.
"He Jing! Throw me the white tube in your schoolbag!"
He Jing quickly pulled it out of his bag and threw it hard. The black bear struggled to attack again, turning over several times in an attempt to stand up again.
He Jing's heart was in his throat.
The tiger jumped up and caught the powerful stabilizer, then turned around and used the momentum to knock the black bear back to the ground. Gu Zheng quickly held down the black bear and quickly inserted the stabilizer into his neck.
The black bear's struggles gradually subsided, and then it lay on the ground motionless.
After waiting for a while, Gu Zheng let go of his hand and jumped off the black bear. "It's okay."
He Jing breathed a sigh of relief, his heart finally settling down. He dragged his backpack down from the tree and walked in front of them.
"Is this a black bear? What should we do with it? Should we eat it?"
"...This can't be eaten." Gu Zheng said speechlessly: "This is Chen Peng, the Minister of the Sixth Department."
"Oh! It's your teammate, then why did he attack you? What happened to him?" He Jing reacted and felt that the whole cat's head was about to smoke, but fortunately the fur blocked his blushing face.
Gu Zheng looked at the other person's eyes which became moist because of embarrassment, and couldn't help but touch her red ears with his claws, and his mood suddenly became better.
"There's something wrong with the magnetic field here. He's been affected and has completely transformed into a beast, temporarily losing his mind. I just injected him with a powerful stabilizer. Now we just have to wait for him to wake up."
Gu Zheng explained and dragged Chen Peng back to the cave.
The situation in the cave was better than expected. Gu Zheng found food, drinks and medicine in the corner.
The black bear was obviously injured. Gu Zheng took the medicine and gave him a simple bandage. He Jing squatted beside him and watched quietly.
When Gu Zheng was about to put his things away, he suddenly took two steps forward and said, "You're injured too, don't you want to treat it?"
