When Haitang heard this, she nodded to indicate that she understood. "How long will the sandstorm last?" Yueyue asked, looking at Ximing.
"I'm not sure either, it's been a while." Upon hearing this, Haitang and the others nodded. A while was indeed quite a long time.
After looking around, Haitang said on the way back, "We didn't bring much food with us. We'll stay here for a few days before going hunting."
"Hmm, I'll go out and see what we can eat." The older one nodded and looked at Yueyue, who was deep in thought.
"What's wrong, Yueyue?" Yueyue looked at Haitang when she came to her senses, but didn't speak. Haitang asked, "Did something happen?"
"No, I was just thinking that it's not a good place to hunt here, so let's look for another place." This area is rather poor, and there's hardly any food.
There were many orcs in this tribe. Haitang and the others went to catch fish to eat every other day. Of course, they didn't go too far. Haitang's clothes and face looked ugly.
Yueyue started catching fish for Haitang to eat. She started hunting as early as her freshman year of college. When Haitang looked at the distance, she asked, "What's wrong?"
"Water bamboo..." Haitang walked over to the pond not far away, and Yueyue did the same. There were some water bamboo in a small pond, and Haitang asked Yueyue to go down and pick them.
Yueyue nodded and dug up some water chestnuts, each about the size of a fist. Haitang washed them clean, took a bite, and found them delicious raw. "Take some of these back with you. We won't have to worry about food for a few days."
Upon hearing this, Yueyue nodded, dug up some water chestnuts, washed them, and took them back. After returning home, she started cooking them in a pot. Da Yi had caught a chicken, and Haitang started cooking the chicken.
Haitang's cooking skills were outstanding. Under these circumstances, many people smelled the aroma. It was Ximing who came over and asked, "What are you eating?"
He stared blankly at the white thing not far away. "That's water bamboo. It tastes good when stewed with chicken," Haitang said. Upon hearing this, Ximing was stunned.
"Isn't it poisonous?" They dared not try anything new, fearing it might be poisonous, or that people starving might die from eating random things.
"No." Hearing this, Haitang shook her head. Ximing watched Haitang and the others eat. Haitang also gave Ximing a bowl. After hesitating for a moment, Ximing couldn't suppress his desire and started eating.
The taste was excellent; it was something Ximing had never eaten before. "Your cooking skills are truly remarkable." It was the first time he had ever realized that food could be so delicious. In the past, the food he ate was merely to fill his stomach, but Haitang could make food more than just something to fill his stomach; she could make him linger and savor the taste.
"Practice makes perfect," Haitang said upon hearing this. "The waters around here are quite nice." Although it was close to the desert, there were many bodies of water around it. Ximing nodded upon hearing this.
"Yes, there are many bodies of water around us, and we rely on these bodies of water to survive. Otherwise, there would be no way for us to live here." It is because of these bodies of water that the lizard race can survive.
Hearing this, Haitang nodded. "Where did you get this?" Ximing replied, "We'll pay you for it."
"Okay, I don't want any reward, just that we stay outside and that you guarantee our safety and prevent others from harassing me," Haitang said. Food was important to Haitang, but she couldn't take it with her.
So telling Lizard Ming not only meant doing him a favor, but also getting him and the others to protect them, since they were outsiders after all. Hearing this, Lizard Ming nodded, "Okay, that's for sure."
Upon hearing this, Xi Ming nodded, not feeling that there was anything wrong with the matter. Upon hearing this, Hai Tang nodded as well.
He took his men there directly. When Xi Ming saw it, he was a little surprised. "There are many of these things around. If they are edible, then we don't have to worry about going hungry."
When Ximing looked into the distance, he said, "With all this food, we don't have to worry about going hungry." Hearing this, Tianmi nodded and told him some cooking methods.
Lizard Ming listened to his advice and dug some up on his way back to feed his branch of the tribe. After cooking them, the females and beastmen ate them with great relish.
"Delicious! Where did this come from?" an orc asked. The thing was white and tender and tasted very good. Although there wasn't much meat, it was enough to fill one's stomach.
"We discovered it by accident, so don't tell anyone. Our small branch is small, and we can't compete with others." Although they were all from the same tribe, none of them were without their own ulterior motives.
Unlike the Tiger Tribe, the smaller branches here have to rely almost entirely on themselves for survival. If their food is stolen by others, their tribe will go hungry, so this matter must be kept secret.
Upon hearing this, all the beastmen nodded, including the females. There were only a few females, and they all began to dig for food. Everyone was very happy when they brought back the food.
"Who exactly is that woman? I feel like she knows a lot, like food..." Who exactly is Haitang? I feel like Haitang knows a lot of things.
"The food and drink are the same," Lizard Ming said upon hearing this. "These are not things we can concern ourselves with. We just need to know that we have enough to eat, and that we can have a few more little beastmen every few years."
