His features were sharply defined, with a hint of coldness and hardness. His dark hair hung down to his ears. Even in his sleep, he would occasionally furrow his brow, as if he were feeling uneasy. He carried a familiar scent.
It was a faint but not unpleasant feeling. Haitang stared blankly at Dongfang Long, who was hugging her, for a long while. "Little Dragon..." Haitang wanted to push him away, but he hugged her even tighter. Haitang blushed and her heart pounded.
The aura emanating from Dongfang Long carried a faint, refreshing fragrance. As he held her in his arms, she could feel his warmth and a strange, comforting sensation.
But she felt a little unwell and nudged her several times, "Sister, you're finally awake." Hearing this voice, Haitang looked at Xiaohe, "You slept for a whole day and night."
"What's going on?" Haitang asked Xiaohe. Xiaohe was slightly taken aback and looked at Dongfanglong.
"Little Dragon went to rescue you. When Daddy came back, he was holding you like this. He must have been terrified." Xiaohe said as she looked at Haitang. Haitang looked at Dongfang Long and thought about what happened yesterday.
The sight of Dongfang Long desperately trying to save her, and the grotesque image of him being pinned to the ground by those snakes, made her momentarily dazed. Haitang nodded and let Xiaohe leave.
Haitang reached out and touched Dongfang Long's cheek. "Thank you," Haitang said with a smile, knowing that the child was terrified, just as she had been terrified herself yesterday.
Dongfang Long groggily opened his eyes and saw Haitang wake up, her hand still touching her cheek. "Relax now that you're awake," Haitang said immediately after feeling awkward for a moment.
Upon hearing this, Dongfang Long's eyes immediately reddened, and he hugged Haitang and burst into tears, "Tangtang, you're alive, sob sob... I thought Tangtang was dead, I... I didn't protect Tangtang well..."
Haitang was about to push the person away, but when she heard them crying, she paused for a moment, then reached out and hugged them, rubbing their head. "Tangtang is alive because of Xiaolong. If it weren't for you, Tangtang would be dead. Don't cry, be good... You saved me," Haitang said, looking at Dongfang Long.
When Dongfang Long looked at Haitang, tears were still falling. He thought Ti was dead and was very worried. Then he couldn't remember anything and just hugged Haitang.
Haitang looked helpless as the other person hugged her, but sensing their lingering fear, she didn't push them away. "Tangtang, I won't let this happen again. I'll protect you..."
When someone younger than herself told her to protect herself, Haitang felt a strange unease, as if something was seeping into the depths of her heart.
She suddenly felt that the boy in front of her had really grown up and become a man. She felt a little lost because children grow up and leave, and she was reluctant to let him leave her.
Dongfang Long cried himself to sleep. After seeing that she had let go of him, Haitang got out of bed with a bit of helplessness. When she looked at Dongfang Long, she asked Xiaohe to give her a good sip of water and then wiped Dongfang Long's face.
Dongfang Long also had bruises and had suffered many injuries. It was difficult to bandage him even though he was holding Haitang. After Haitang woke up, she cleaned his wounds.
While cleaning the wound, she glanced at Dongfang Long's expression and couldn't help but shake her head. Her hand unconsciously touched Dongfang Long's cheek, but she withdrew it the next second.
Haitang shook her head, feeling that she was probably a little obsessed. After cleaning up the mess, she carried the basin of water outside. There were many people busy outside. Seeing that Haitang had woken up, Shi Hu and the others came up.
"You're awake. Is there anything wrong with your body?" Shi Hu asked worriedly. Haitang shook her head, indicating that she was fine and there was nothing wrong with her body.
Upon hearing this, Shi Hu nodded and then told Haitang some things. Haitang was stunned for a moment when she heard this. "When I went there, I did hear a sound, like the dragon's roar that your grandfather told me about. But I'm not sure if it's true. It's probably true, because when I went there, several snake-clan beastmen were dead. Unless the little dragon had transformed into a beastman at the time, it would have been impossible for it to kill those snake-clan beastmen."
Upon hearing this, Haitang was stunned for a while before saying, "No wonder I felt he was much weaker when I took his pulse just now."
"Father, let's not tell anyone else about this yet. I'll tell Xiaolong," Haitang said, glancing at Shi Hu. Shi Hu nodded.
“I also think it’s better not to tell anyone else. The dragon orcs are different from us. Now that they’ve successfully transformed into true beastmen, that’s a big deal. It might even attract other tribes to spy on them.” It’s not just the little dragon cub that’s being spied on, but also their own daughter.
Hearing this, Haitang nodded. Then, looking at the distance, she asked, "Have many people died?"
"We've calculated it. With about ten orcs, facing such a large-scale surprise attack, our losses won't be too heavy," he said, looking at Haitang. Upon hearing this, Haitang opened her mouth but then nodded.
Haitang looked around and saw that some rooms in her house were damaged. Xingxing and Yueyue were currently working hard to repair the broken parts of the room. Haitang looked next door and saw that Xiuxiu's house was in a similar state.
Thinking about this surprise attack, Haitang felt a pang of sadness. She glanced at the distance and asked, "What about the families who lost their orcs?"
"What else can they do? The tribe will compensate them with things, but they can't take care of everything. However, they can raise livestock." Just like at home, they can raise livestock so they don't have to hunt for meat.
"In the future, if any of the young beastmen in their families want to transform into beastmen, the tribe's beastmen will step in to guide them. As for other matters, they can only rely on themselves." This is the way of the times, and it is also the rule of the tribe.
